ARCHIVE TWO: PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF ~
Greetings! My name is Travis and I am excited to be part of the group. I have a history masters degree and am a history buff. I was previously in the military and my primary interest is in military studies.
Hi all,I'm from Portland, Oregon. I was a Fulbright Fellow in Munich, Germany for an MA in history. Since my current profession often involves researching mid-20th century European settings, especially in WWII, I still do lots of research and read nonfiction history. Looking forward to discovering interesting tidbits of history and story ideas as well as sharing what I've found.
Happy reading,
Steve
Welcome, Michael. I hope this club will inspire you to read more history. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you are ready to cite a book. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Hello everyone. I am Sue. I am a college student studying computing and living in an "international" Asian city, I had never interest in history except being forced to study both Chinese and world history during secondary school. Until recently I was more interested in world affairs reading a bunch of news about the conflicts in the middle east. And so I started reading history book. so basically I don't have much idea about world history but I will start to read more (hopefully)

I'm a surgeon in Idaho. Have been a longtime reader of history - nothing is out of my interest sphere. I'm looking for ideas of books to read that expand my knowledge of daily life in past times. I know our assumptions of how life was are often wrong so I like to hear it from the horses mouth with as minimal re-interpretation as possible.

Hello everyone, my name is Angel, and I've been a book hoarder and voracious reader since I was a little girl. I have two teen daughters I adore, and I'm so grateful to share my passion for reading, and knowledge, with them. I'm new to goodreads, and I really don't know why it took me so long to join in the fun...I enjoy reading many different genres, but historical non-fiction and biographies seem to be my preference. The book, and the author, that really hooked me:

David McCulloughI'm currently reading:
by
Ishmael BeahIt was my oldest daughter's summer reading pick. She was very moved by the author's story, so I had to find out for myself.
I'm excited to be in such good company, while still appeasing my introverted self!

Hello,
My name is Charles. I have loved history and geography since I was a kid. I still love to learn about history. My favorite books to read are historical fiction. I look forward to connecting with others who love history.
Greetings to everyone from northern Virginia. I am new to goodreads and was thrilled when I happened upon this group. I looked through the books you have been reading and they look like the kind of books I enjoy so it will be great to have a community to share. I have already downloaded the current book and hope to catch up with the discussion this weekend. I look forward to getting to know all of you. --Kathy
Hi everyone Firstly thank you for letting me join your group.
I am Julie from the UK and have loved history since I was in school. my fav ere is Ancient Egypt but love to indulge in most history. I work part time in the family glazing business I have two adult sons one with learning disabilities.
Hi, I am Pierre van Blommestein. I spent 20 years in the South African army as a chaplain, during the apartheid years. I have a deep interest in the stories of the ordinary people, of all persuasions, who lived through those events. In terms of modern military, political and social history, there is a huge untold story that many would find fascinating, I think. I currently live in Brisbane, Australia.
Hello All..I am Ali Khan Esufzai from Pakistan.
I teach various courses on Modern South Asia and have studied Indian/South Asian History and Islamic History.
However, my research (as a research fellow) is concerned with religious militancy (in Islam) with special emphasis on the roots (if any) in Islamic Education System ('Madrassas')..
Generally speaking, I always liked history and like to read books on the subject (got a soft spot for ancient history)..

What an interesting introduction, Pierre. We are so glad you joined us. We have a South Africa topic at the following link which may be of interest to you. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
This is how a book should look:
