I agree with the rule about going for the second guy in the love triangle. Thats always the ones authors mean for the main character. the second one is always the one that is the one meant to be with the character. It's basically law. Author... Law.

I know how you feel. After the reveal of Maxon being beaten partially because of her. It cemented it for me that America needs him as much as he needs her.

Umm okay yeah I'm ready for the hate, but.....neither. They both suck. Aspen was stupid right from the start and he whines A LOT. I was all for Maxon until that part from The Elite where he turns into a DICK. That's the kinda sh!t that makes me really upset and I won't be forgiving him for that anytime soon. I really can't see how everyone is just okay with that?! And if America does, well then I guess they deserve each other. At this point I hope she ends up with neither of them. Why does she need a man anyways? Really, if those are the only choices, then single life is the way to go.

When America saw him making out with Celeste? He's allowed to do that. It was a stupid thing to do. But America was doing THE EXACT SAME THING with Aspen which you seem to forget to mention.

Cliche and typical ending/story would be for Amererica to end up with the Prince......( most likely will happen ) therefore rooting for Aspen.

I realize that America's no gem, but the question was do I like Aspen or Maxon and I said neither for obvious reasons. If Maxon really liked her, he wouldn't make out with other girls to relax and that's that. Doesn't make what she's doing right, but it doesn't make him the lesser of two evils either.

I'm team Maxon and I heard the audio version of the Guard and found that Maxon loves America but he thinks that Maxon is like his father or something along those lines.

While I am still Team Maxon all the way (still crossing my fingers, Kiera Cass), I do have some sympathy for Aspen after reading his family tree info in The Selection Stories. However, this is mainly from his mother and father's sad backstory. So while I do pity Aspen, I still believe Maxon and America should get together. Maybe Aspen could hook up with Lucy? Who knows.

Maxon is sweet, cute and innocently devoted to America. I respect that. Aspen is genuine, loyal and selfless. Both boys are humble and love America with all their hearts but America is so indecisive. I´m Brazilian and most readers of here want America and Maxon at the end. Aspen is a very loyal guy and deserves a beaultiful ending but his story with America is over. The point is that they don´t want to say goodbye. You can see this by reading "The Guard" when Aspen says they are still the same as when they lived in Carolina and he will fight to prove. Sorry, but this is an illusion. Things happened and feelings changed. America is not the same and she built something with the Prince. Is not the ideal relationship but they shared too much. There´s no way to ignore. America with Aspen is like the history walking in circles. She have to move on with the guy that helped her to grow up. Maxon is not perfect but they´re learning and like each other. This is more solid than a handful of memories.

Totally on team maxon. Maybe i would be more aspen if he was a more well developed character, but in the first book, he just... drops in. As in, POOF! voila, introducing America's love life that nobody knows a freaking fun fact about. Maxon, however... I wish he was real. hes such a good person and i swear America and him just make me squeal with girly-girl romantic delight. Team Maxon! WOOT WOOT!!

I've read The Selection Stories. But I confess that I still consider Kriss and especially Daphne as threats to America-Maxon. SPOILER: Did you notice the crisis with France? This reminds me of the words of "The Prince" that says "Suddenly, his offhand comment about Daphne being a waste made sense. He did not care if I was close to her because she was charming or good company; que he cared she was France. Not even a person to him. And since he basically had what he needed from France, she was useless in his eyes. Had she proven valuable, I had no doubt he would have been que willing to throw a beloved tradition out this window".

And still have the interview with Kiera Cass when she says: when I sat down and wrote it out the first team, I did. I Knew who she was supposed to be with. And as I got to the end of the first book, I Realized I did not know America as well as I thought I did-a lot of things were different about her. So when I went back and rewrote it I Realized she would pick someone different. So yes and no. Because the person que she ends up with changes. It is exactly who she would have picked, I just was not paying attention. "What does that mean? If she wants America to Aspen, so she's doing it all wrong. Aspen can be a good boy but .... I don´t think he is strong enough to be the choice of the protagonist.
