I liked Aspen better until Maxon showed up. Afterwards, I fell in love with Maxon <3
TEAM ASPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Aspen has loved America for a long time and sacrificed everything to make her happy. Even his own feelings. Maxon may love her to but Aspen understands who she is and knows every little quirk she has. She has never cared for money, and to be frank the only reason she is there is because Aspen told her to. She didn't want to but she did it for him. Everything he has done is for her. He is the best choice for America.

Maxon of course. He is such agood person and Aspen let his ego get in the way of his and America's relationship. SO it is his lost. But I'm happy he did or else America would have never been with Maxon.
Plus i think Maxon would be so cute and remember when america kicked him!

TEAM MAXON! I never felt any emotional connection to Aspen, really. He was just a frustrating character that only seemed to think about himself. To me his character was pretty superficial too. I mean, what do we actually know about him? If you compare that to what we know about Maxon, and his personality in general, the choice is easily made!
TEAM MAXON all the way!!!! I know maxon is the cliché prince but aspen.... just no. I get it, Aspen was her first love. It doesn’t mean he has to be her last!
Yes, Aspen was quite nice in the beginning, but he gave up on America in The Selection because of his pride and egotistical thinking. Then, afterwards, he thought that it was okay to go stir up her feelings again, when he’d already broken her heart! Also, he kept putting shreds of doubt in her mind about Maxon, arguing that he was fake when he didn’t even know him.
Furthermore, he didn’t even believe that America would make a good princess, yet proposed that he loved her.
It did take America a while to realise it, but, I believe that she didn’t even still love Aspen when she found him again. Yes, I think she cared about him, or loved him in some way. But, she wasn’t in love with him like she once was.
It was simply the familiarity that came with Aspen; the ties to her old life, that kept drawing her to him. Whenever things got rough, she kept resorting back to Aspen, because he would always console her, but, he no longer knew the person she had become. He didn’t understand her, or make her feel just like America, like Maxon did.
Yes, Aspen cared about America, but Maxon was right for her.
He reminded her of who she was and brought out the best in her.
He would have done and given everything for her.
He made her feel like she wasn’t a 5, or 3, or 1, but simply her.
Together, America and Maxon made each other whole.
And, to be honest, I can’t possibly put into words how much that quote that Maxon said to America, ‘Break my heart, break it a thousand times if you’d like. It was only ever yours to break anyway,’ made me melt inside.
Also, I know that some people think that Maxon and Kriss would have been cute together, but they were always so smooth.
America and Maxon had so many ups and even more downs, but that’s what made them so real and, in the end, made their relationship so much stronger.

I used to think Aspen, but I'm so happy with Laspen (Lucy/Aspen)Now I think Maxon, but it still annoys me how he's so back and forth, and Aspen has just loved America the whole way through!

Maxon! I really disliked Aspen because of him breaking up with America in the first book. (Thinks about the chance of her finding true love) Yea, Maxon is better.

I get that everyone is mad that Aspen broke up with America, if she wouldn't have gotten selected, she would never have grew up or learned from it. In a weird way, Aspen breaking up with her made her stronger. It made Maxon love her even more. And the whole reason she was afraid of marrying Maxon was because she didn't want her heart broken. Those that say "Team Aspen" have trouble living in the present and not the past. Maxon gets her and knows her more than she does herself.

Would I have to take a beating if I say out loud that I wished ‘Mer ended up with Aspen? 😝 Because I wished they diiid!!! I’m curious how the story would’ve flowed if Kiera Cass didn’t change the ending. She said that originally, Maxon would have died with King Constantine during the last break in and that Queen Regina would come to adopt America and then ‘Mer and Aspen would end up together. *sigh*
But, of course I’m happy that America and Maxon ended up together anyway. After whirlwind of trials and doubts between them. But I just fell in love with Aspen’s character. At times it seems like America didn’t deserve Aspen’s loyalty and undying love because she keeps going back and forth between him and Maxon (which is also unfair for Maxon, I know).
I cried at the whole Epilogue chapter specially when it was Aspen who walked her down the aisle to Maxon. Because WHO DOES THAT? ONLY TRUE LOVE! I seriously lost it with that ending.
And it didn’t help that Aspen’s family life didn’t turn out how he hoped it would be with Lucy, not being able to bear childrens. That was just really saaaaad! But he remained a faithful servant to the crown and to Illéa nonetheless. I just wished Aspen also got his happy ending. My heart was aching for him from the Heir and the Crown.
Definitely Maxon.

I'm torn, I started out on Team Aspen but I think I'm changing. Maxon seems like a genuine person that needs someone like America in his life.
I'm 100% team Maxon!! I love him and America so much... I would just get so annoyed with Aspen throughout the books. I do love Aspen in the Eadlyn books tho.

Honestly, Maxon because Aspen tends to give America whatever she wants, where as Maxon actually tells her no
Maxon, because Maxon and America belong together. Not to mention America close Maxon when she could have chosen Maxon. Also, Aspen likes to protect. Lucy really needs someone strong who can help her. I really like how Maxon and America, and Aspen and Lucy ended up together in the end.

Maxon.America loves Aspen as a really, really close best friend (in a platonic way) / brother. She loves Maxon as more.

MAXON!!!!!!!!!!!!Aspen has no purpose in the world except to go to the front lines and die. Not a good dude. He broke up with America, got to the palace and is all like. "America you can't pick that guy. I want you back." Then all Team Maxon fans are like "No second chances son."

Well actually America was at the competition not because of Maxon but in order to help her fimily financially but I get your point.
Team Maxon!! He is really sweet and never forced himself on her. He always asked her before doing anything.
Team Maxon! Aspen breaks up with America because of his own pride and ego, and then goes and says he still loves her and doesn't really respect/understand that she might not want him back. Going to the palace and making it look like they're still in a relationship, which was against the rules of being a Selected (is that the right term?), and could cost her and her family a lot.
Also, Maxon is so nice, despite the fact that they get in many arguments, he tells her that he'd end the Selection if she said she wanted to marry him, and propose. He also tried to understand what the lower castes were going through, and helped, before destroying the castes for good.

Team Maxon caus he is so bloody sweet and understanding towards America, and Aspen was kinda an ass in the beginning when he broke up with America solely based on his pride
I love this series and I dont even know why, but I was sooo annoyed by Maxon and America. America was mad on Maxon, cuz he was kissing Celeste and u know while she was kissing Aspen and giving him fake hope or how u say it in english. And opposite. Maxon was mad on America for kissing Aspen while he was kissing Celeste. Like what the hell? I was so angry with them that I just wanted to punch them both. I didnt really answer the question lmao. In the end I think I prefer Maxon and America. They are kinda sweet together.
I'm definitely team Maxon. Aspen and America are a good couple; don't get me wrong, but they were both young and it was a relationship that wasn't meant to last. I mean, if I'm honest, America is just one of those characters who I think is better off with no one, but that's not what happened. I feel like it was cruel of America to use Aspen as a "safety net" as her brother called it, if America wasn't chose for the selection and she had to go home. Maxon shows his dedication and care towards America several times. Aspen also does this, though if I remember correctly not many times are mentioned in the book. I could go one for another hour, maybe two, but I don't have the time. Overall, Maxon is definitely a better person for America. I mean, the thing he said at the end of the book, I think it went along the lines of "Break my heart. Break it as many times as you want to, it was only yours to break anyway" Right in the feels. I could be wrong about the exact quote but it was something like that. I don't remember Aspen saying anything like that, even in the first book. (I could be wrong, don't judge my memory). If the circumstances were different, and if America wasn't in the selection, and if maybe they were a little bit older, I think a relationship between America and Aspen would have lasted a long time.

Maxon, Maxon, and MAXON. He's so noble, and not only in royalty. He's a young man willing to stand up for his love, no matter the cost--or costs, if you know what I mean. I finished The One today and really liked it. No, it wasn't perfect... America has her faults... I wish there was more of a dystopian aspect... but I loved it overall!
