Grimm Readers ~ How to Play, Help, & Discussion

He came at you in a very rude manner and thus got blasted for his arrogance. Like many people have told you, don't worry about it.I see reviews at amazon saying "I loved this book". Oh yea? What did you like so much?
Besides, you didn't attack him and say he was the worst writer ever or say something about his mama.
LMAO, lots of authors learned a lesson from this one.

That's my dawg!

Also, the author may want constructive reviews, but they're not owed them. That's what editors/beta readers are for.

they don't want that either. Because my author friend always says "damn, if the reviewer knows so much, why doesn't' she write her own book then!"
they want praise for their efforts. They want validation for their blood, sweat and tears. then they want to sell books

I don't know if I would know how to write a review like that.

It looks like he has deleted his comments now but I can see the basis of it when people have replied, what a complete tool haha!
Did he honestly think by doing something like that it would hold him in good stead in a community that has had its fair share of bonkers author / bullying / stalking that he must have heard of recently!
Well done to you too Cait, you were perfectly polite with your reposed to him.
Ps I was one of the ones that hated BDB **Please don't kill me**

*cough*

Wooooooow! This guy is crazy!
Commercial Break. Feast eyes upon the beauty of Thor, I mean Chris hemsworth. Definitely Baby Daddy material.

Cait, thank you for keeping me entertained all night, I have sat and read all FIFTEEN pages and laughed a lot at his comments, luckily even deleting his comments doesn't help as the screen shots proving him as a batshit crazy douchecanoe shows!!
It is also lovely to see authors banding together to actually apologise (on his behalf).

As someone who is currently finishing a book to send to betas, I have been preparing for a long time for 1 star reviews. It comes with the territory. And I will own it if I get one. As a reviewer, I know that not everyone likes everything. And I know that when I give a bad review, it's not to be malicious, it's to be as helpful as possible, but even then sometimes the author did nothing wrong, it just wasn't for me. This guy obviously has issues that are deeper than just this. And your comments about his book being wordy and pretentious was definitely proven with his first comment to you.
Good on you for standing your ground.
ETA: Holy crap, I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read his comment about dark occultists or whatever. This guy is a serious nutter.

He went on my no- not-ever shelf. Sorry no money for you.
Several others did 1 star reviews after how he treated Cait. What an idiot - he kinda bombed his own book with all his crazy comments

LOL batshit crazy douchecanoe!! I love it - I'm gonna have to remember this

So what were you thinking, having your own opinion about this masterpiece? How dare you ...

This author is a prime example of how NOT to behave and he has done more harm to his own career than you could ever have done. Not only has he convinced me to never read one of his "masterpieces", but also reaffirmed my decision to think long and hard before reading a self-published author as you never know when one might go ballistic. I don't need that kind of pressure and leave it up to the readers who are far braver than I.

It's been absolutely crazy.

I just finished reading all about this and I have to say you did very well handling it Cait, some of his comments would have totally flipped my B*tch switch and then it would have been on! That guy seriously needs to get a life and probably a new carrier if he can't handle a few negative comments.

Look, my brother loves, I mean LOVES Bob Dylan, he worships him, and all that sails in him, I personally think that he sounds like a person starting up a motor boat or chainsaw!
I can't bear his voice at ALL, now I don't deny that he has made some great songs, but if he is singing them I would rather sit in the bathroom and clip my toenails........just saying!
However that does NOT give my brother the right to turn around and abuse me about it, we just have friendly banter where he tells me my taste in music is shit, and I tell him that he is an annoying little git lol
It's all about opinions, no one is right! The guy just needs to chill out and stop while he still has the option of having a writing career !

Who's on what team can be found here.
I'll get the threads updated with names, links, etc throughout the day.
I did my best to keep teams even with books and genres as best as possible.

Just want to clarify that re-tellings, as well as the word in a team name and author initials DON'T have to be your team. Any of the 7 teams are cool.
Also since this is the 1st time we've done this one. The first theme/task will be stupid easy for everyone to get their feet wet :)
I'll post the 1st set of theme/tasks and the mini towards the weekend so everyone can start hunting out options too.

Cinderella: Cinder, cinders, Ella
Snow White: Snow, snowed, snows, snowing, white, whites
Little Mermaid: Little, Wee, Small, Mermaid, Merfolk, Merman
Red Riding Hood: Red, reds, ride, riders, riding, rider, hood, hoods, hooded
Beauty & the Beast: beauty, beautiful, beauties, beast, beasts, beastly
Sleeping Beauty: Sleep, sleeping, sleepy, asleep, beauty, beautiful, beauties
Peter Pan: Peter, pan, pans

Just to make it easier if you would make a separate shelf for potential reads. I think I need to do the same thing.
