FAQ:Q: When the theme/task changes what if my team isn't finished with the current set of 10?
A:That's not a problem, just finish out your current 10 and in the meantime you can still be working on the new theme/task too. Just can't use one book for both theme/tasks.
Q.So the team would have 2 weeks to try and read as many task-themed books as possible in sets of 10?
A: Yes
Q. If the team has 5 members, then each member would need to read at least 2 books in the 2 weeks and if they could each do 4, they'd have 2 sets of 10? I guess they wouldn't necessarily have to all read the same number but between them at least 10 books?
A. No one would have to read a set number of books. Each member just contributes as many as they want/can. Working towards the goal of sets of 10. Keep in mind too teams very well could be a little larger than SS/SSS since it's not a time deadline on this one. So finishing a set of 10 should be fairly easy. Teams will be evened out based on number of books read a week so it'll be fair across the teams.
Q.Is there extra scoring for additional sets of 10 in the 2 weeks?
A.Yes every time you complete 10 you'll score 100 plus any page points, bonus points, and or mini challenge points. And don't forget any book you read during the challenge that doesn't fit the theme/task still counts towards page points and bonus & mini challenge points if applicable.
Q. Do qualifying books have to be started after the new theme/task and or mini challenge are announced?
A. No they don't. For example: If you start a book on Tuesday and the theme/task and or mini are announced on Wednesdays but you finish on Saturday you can still use it.
Q. Can we use alternate editions for mini challenges if needed?
A. Yes just be sure to link the right edition when you post that you're finished.
Q. What all variations of the team names are ok for the team name bonus?
A.
Cinderella: Cinder, cinders, Ella
Snow White: Snow, snowed, snows, snowing, white, whites
Little Mermaid: Little, Wee, Small, Mermaid, Merfolk, Merman
Red Riding Hood: Red, reds, ride, riders, riding, rider, hood, hoods, hooded
Beauty & the Beast: beauty, beautiful, beauties, beast, beasts, beastly
Sleeping Beauty: Sleep, sleeping, sleepy, asleep, beauty, beautiful, beauties
Peter Pan: Peter, pan, pans
Q. On the bonuses are we limited to our team?
A. No, you can use any team's name, fairy tale re-telling, and author initials.

Can you give an example of a task? I'd liketo make sure this challenge is a good fit for me before I sign up. Thank you.
Sure!A few I've thought of:
Team Cinderella could have mean family as a task you'd read books where the mc has mean/crappy family.
Rapunzel one week could have long hair on the cover.
Snow White murder/assassins
Those are just a few I've kicked around mentally. The tasks won't be super hard. The mini's might be a little more complex/specific some weeks.

LOL, Deflater Tom.
I am without a contender in sports right now except for the French Open where Serena is still BOSS.
After the US Open (Tennis), I'll go into Sports Hibernation until the Cowboys resurface in August.
@Shy: yes, Spartacus and Agron know I hold them down like no other.

Welcome to a new team challenge, Grimm Readers
Dates & Details:
✪Sign ups are open now and will close on 6/9.
✪6/10Teams will be formed and the game will begin on 6/17. Any book started on the 17th or later is eligible to be used.
✪Teams will be formed based on amount of books read a week (see template for sign up at the end of this post)
✪I'm including the option of what genre's you read. IF it's possible to assign teams based on genre I will but amount of books read a week will take priority to genre.
✪The game will be over on 8/19 and at this point you'll have one week to complete tasks for final points.
✪On 8/26 points will tallied and the team with the most points is our winner.
✪You will have to create a shelf for read books only with this game.
How to Play:
✪Each team will be assigned 3 fairy tales. One will be your "major" fairy tale which will also be your team name and 2 will be your "minor" fairy tale.
✪Every other Wednesday your team will be given a theme/task based on your fairy tales. Once your team has completed 10 theme/tasks captains will submit a tracking post with a point summary. The goal is to complete as many sets of 10 theme/tasks as you can during the two week period.
✪There will also be a new mini challenge that runs each week for bonus scoring and additional fun :)
How to Report Finished Books:
✪For this game you WILL NOT be required to leave a review…hey it's summer time we all wanna be outside by the pool :)
✪Once you've finished a book: Tag it to your shelf
Post on your team's thread with a link to the book, the author, finish date, and rating. Also to make your captain's life easier include pages and scoring for your book.
Qualified Books:
✪Books must be a 150 page minimum
✪Re-reads are allowed
✪Graphic novels ARE NOT allowed
✪Anthologies are fine but you must read the entire book
✪Non-Fiction is ok too but not poetry books
✪Review books are ok so long as there's an ISBN number so it can be linked and tagged to your shelf.
Scoring:
✪If you read a book that doesn't fit the theme/task or the mini challenge you can still claim page points and bonus points if applicable.
✪Page Points:
150-200 = 20 points
201-300 = 25 points
301-400 = 30 points
401-500 = 35 points
501+ = 40 points
✪A qualifying mini challenge book = 20 points
✪Each completed set of 10 theme/task books = 100 points
Bonus Scoring:
✪Read a fairy tale re-telling = 50 points
✪Read a book who's author's first and last initials is in a team's name consecutively = 50
✪Read a book where the title/series name has a word that's in a team's name=50
✪There will be examples in the post below.
Captain Duties:
✪I would strongly recommend having 2 captains on each team where you can share spreadsheet and tracking duties.
✪Captains will need to have a team spreadsheet and keep track of your points on it.
✪Once your team has completed a set of 10 theme/task books, you'll need to post a tracking post with the books read and how they score. There will be a specific thread set up for this much like how we track things over on SS/SSS.
✪Report any problems, concerns, any missing players etc. to the mods. If we need to send out the tracking dogs talk to Ezi J/k =]
