Why: I liked the Oz books when I was younger, but never liked the movie. The books were magical, but it was darker in ways (if memory serves) and the movie was so shiny and bright and didn't feel...like there was a real edge of danger to Dorothy's journey. The Oz in this new series (set after Dorothy leaves....and then returns to Oz) is twisted and magical even though that magic is now in the hands of the few. But Oz is an inherently magical place. No matter the version.
