Men in Blue #2

Razor's Edge

Rate this book
There's a thin line between protection and betrayal and they're dancing on it.

Isabella's marriage to the wealthiest man in the state looked fairytale perfect. Only she knows the truth behind the nightmare forcing her to run with the clothes on her back, the scars on her body and no one to trust. Not even her own father.

When the man hunting her has unlimited resources, hiding in plain sight is a wise choice. Isabella basks in the protection of the limelight as an instructor on a pro-am TV dance competition. Perfect plan, except her ornery partner is packing moves she never learned in any studio.

A rookie mistake in the line of duty earned Razor months of rehab and a healthy distrust of innocent-looking women. Determined to prove to his fellow men in blue his green has worn off, he goes undercover as Isabella's dance partner to investigate her possible involvement in a sex-slavery ring. But as he attempts to cozy up for information, their instant chemistry challenges his detached composure.

An attempt on her life should have cleared the air. Instead it muddies the waters even more, forcing them both to trust each other. And depend on the one thing Razor thought he d lost. His instinct.

Warning: This book contains ultra-sexy young cops, who aren t afraid to show a girl their best moves on and off the dance floor.

Ok so I LOVED Night is Darkest, but I absolutely LOVED Razor's Edge. BTW it was hard for me to tell on amazon that Night is Darkest was Book 1 of the Men in Blue series, so maybe my pointing it out will help you.

There was so much emotion in Razor's Edge, plot twists, love, sex, angst, even humor and MASON, TYLER & LACEY are a part of the story, it's great to see how they are doing and how the rest of the squadmates accept their committed menage. I loved the club scene, won't go into detail because I don't want to spoil it.

I can't wait to read JRad's story, I have always warned my daughter to never underestimate the computer "nerds" that I always felt some of them might just be more than we expect.

KEEP THEM COMING JAYNE!!!

I had a hard time with this book. Ok, you run away from your abusive husband only to find out you father is his Master and has been fucking him?!?!?!? Oh and on top of that you are a married virgin because your husband's dick is so small it never even got close to poping your cherry??? Let's not forget the part where you have to prove to your new boyfriend you are a virgin. So how would you go about that??? How about going in the bedroom with him and his best friend and having his best friend stick his fingers in you to find out while you kiss your boyfriend??? And of course it goes a little beyond "the virgin check" with your boyfriends best friend explaining how to give your boyfriend a proper blowjob. WACKED! I did have to give it 3 stars because no matter how off the wall it is....its Jayn Rylon and I love her books! Can't wait for the next in this series!

I absolutely loved Night Is Darkest, and this is the sequel to it. I really love Ms. Rylon's writing--I think it's smooth and easy to read. In this particular book, I just thought things dragged a bit too long. Then there was the whole checking the heroine's virginity thing by a bunch of cops, rather than taking her to a medical clinic for a doctor or nurse to examine...I had to suspend my disbelief for that scene and for what followed, but Ms. Rylon's love scenes are always very hot.

Some interesting characters introduced here as well, and I thought she set up the storyline for JRad and Lily very well.

I did this a lot backwards, since I started with Mistress's Master and then read Night is Darkest after this one. I definitely would have enjoyed these books a lot more reading them in sequence since they all set up the future book. Now I LOVED the other 2 books in this series, but I just didn't enjoy Razor's Edge as much. It is more vanilla out of the 3 books. I wasn't really feeling Isabella either. It wasn't anything specific about the book that I disliked, but I think compared to the other 2 books in the series it was just more toned down and just not as good.

I really wanted to like this one more. A cop going undercover as a dance partner for a televised dance competition? Yes, please! A woman running from a loveless marriage, desperate to experiment with her sexuality? Sign me up! The names Isabella and Razor? Love it!
The base storyline was good, but it just seemed to drag on and on. It was a bit of a struggle to get through. After each line of dialogue, we are then taken through every thought in that character's mind before the next line is spoken. I found myself skimming through paragraphs after a while just to get through the conversation.

Isabella Buchanan Carrington can't believe when she overhears her husband's plot to sell her to the highest bidder. Fleeing she has nowhere to turn and no one to trust. When she lands a job as a dance instructor for a televised show, she finds herself partnerned with James "Razor" Roeser.

Razor had become the embarrassement to his unit, he has one last shot at trying to rebuild his career by going undercover and investigating his new dance instructor as the local dance contestant. Everything about Isabella screams innocence, but he has trusted before and been burned. When Isabella reveals the truth, Razor knows he wants to be the only one in line to protect her even if it means hiding the truth about why he was really there.

Second in the Men in Blue series. I thought this idea of the cop/socialite dance show was highly creative. Definitely a sizzler.

Wow. This book was hot. There were a few twists and turns that I did not see coming.

Isabella is married to a man that doesn't love her. He plans on selling her and her virginity to the highest bidder. She escapes but not before being beating up. She has nowhere to go so she hides out in a seedy apartment. Razor is a cop who is coming back after an injury. They are paired up for a dancing competition. Razor is undercover to find out Isabella's secrets. It doesn't take long before they give into their attraction. After a few misses on her life, Razor and his coworkers start finding the truth of Isabella's secrets and tries to help her. But the truth is far darker than anything they could imagine.

Highly recommend this book, series and author.

Another great story from Jayne Rylon. Razor and Izzy were a great couple, and I loved to see their attraction grow. The one part of the story that made no sense to me was when she was trying to prove she wasn't the girl in the pictures by letting one of the officers check to see that her hymen was still intact. And then had a weird kind of threesome (still had the hymen afterward) with Razor and JRad. My feel is that if they really thought she was in the pictures, she probably would have been arrested first and a doctor would have examined her. But whatever. Generally speaking, the story was good, the couple was good, the ending was good. I look forward to the next one!

It was okay. The sex scenes were nothing out of the ordinary (I did enjoy the one starring JRad) and again, the writing was so cheesy I could barely stand to finish it. Fortunately, I have a thing for cops.

While I've been enjoying these books, the way they choose to "prove" her story was true was COMPLETELY ridiculous and really offensive to me.

I felt I needed to come back a few days later and give a better, or I should say more proper review.

These books have gotten decidedly darker.

Quite enjoyable, if some parts are a bit improbable (yeah, when you have a nurse in your gaggle of of people, two cops wouldn't perform a Hymen check themselves.)

Though... I really did like to see Jeremy do his thing..I might regret that a bit later on. The way he guided Izzy was something to behold. I do however wish he had been more in on the action and not just directing. (Having read the third book now, I know what that was all about.. still doesn't change that I wish he was more involved on it)

The plot was... interesting to say the least.

It wasn't really a one off book, this one pretty much sets the entire arc for the next book, which isn't a bad thing, but people need to be aware that it is quite important to read this one before reading book 3.

I really like Razor.

Jambrea.. is a name I cannot take seriously at all, which will make reading book 4 difficult.

Razor's ready to return to work after being being betrayed, shot & enduring over three months of hospitalization followed by physical therapy. His first assignment back is to go undercover to dig info up on a drug & sex slave ring.

Isabella escapes her husband after waking bound, flaunted for an audience, then tortured. She's willing to leave behind all the money & possessions she was born into then married up to, just to be free long enough to find a way to rescue other women who've experienced worse.

Isabella cannot trust Razor, as she knows there are cops on the take in her daddy and husband's back pockets. Razor cannot trust Isabella after falling for Gina's rouse and almost dying as a result of it.

I liked both of the main characters, enjoyed the supporting characters & devoured the plot. I had a small issue with her escape car & the issue of providing proof of maidenhood. But, I take it in stride, after all, it is a work of fiction.

Great Read

Razor is forced to go on a dance show to try and earn back his cred with his brothers in blue - his face partner is none other then Isabella who happens to be of interest of the police - will he be able to keep his distance better then he did before - will anyone believe the story that Isabella has to tell - this book will keep you on the edge of your seat and when you find out who's behind this you'll be shocked.

This book was kind of meh. Nothing much to it, not even the sexy times which are so very well written by this author. I loved Isabella and the back story, but Razor came off a little on the green side and it took me some time to warm up to him.

Not my cup of tea

I have a problem with a clinical examination by an uninvolved man for a hymen to prove virginity turning into a sexual encounter, so this installment of the Men in Blue turned me off.

The author gave us a "soft porn" warning, and boy did she need to.
The storyline was decent, and had a nice twist and turn, but there was lots of sex for sex's sake. Nothing wrong with that, but be prepared!

Heat, passion, and a sexy cop

Every page kept me entranced. The sparks almost jump off of the page. Razor deserves a fresh start and Izzy is the perfect match.

Razor’s Edge is Wicked Hot

Razor’s Edge is the second book in MS. Rylon’s Men In Blue series. I have had the pleasure of reading the first book in the series, The Darkest Night and I can honestly say that the sequel is quite worthy of every compliment and accolade it receives. Sometimes one is afraid of sequels because they just never seem to be as good as the first, kind of like Disney’s Tarzan and Tarzan 2, but that is not the case here as Razor’s Edge kept me on the edge of my seat.

The characters are human and have depth to them, fears and insecurities that are believable. I would swear Ms. Rylon has been on Dancing With The Stars or So You Think You Can Dance in order to do research for the dancing portions of the story.

Here’s a little quote from Isabella our heroine as she listens to some music while getting ready to audition for a dancing show where she’ll be paired with our hero James “Razor” who is horrified he’ll have to dance while undercover.

‘What would it be like to have a lover as achingly passionate as the music implied? Someone who lifted her up instead of tearing her down. Someone she could whisper her fantasies to at night without fear of recrimination or humiliation. Someone she could commit herself to heart and soul.’

The plot behind this story blew me away, I never saw it coming, and the twists and turns had my mouth dropping open. I was totally drawn into this story, it fully captures the senses, I didn’t want to stop reading, and it was like an addiction I wanted to keep feeding. It was like savoring a fine Italian wine or a slice of the moistest decadent chocolate cake you have ever had the pleasure of enjoying.

I can tell you that Ms Rylon is truly one the industry’s Queens of Erotic Romance/Suspense in my book. In fact I’m thinking Ms Rylon should be placed in protective custody for her own safety until the bad guys can be put behind bars because the story is so believable, and that’s the best teaser you’ll get out of me, other than to say I can’t wait for the next book in this series which is JRad’s story and he’s all mine, every yummy lickable mysterious inch of him.

After finishing the first book in this series, I absolutely HAD to read Razor's Edge and I am so glad that I did. I have liked My Rylon's writing style and her stories for some time now, most recently due to her co-authoring a series with Mari Carr. Now I discovered some of her books that I had missed previously and am delighted to have found this series. What's not to like? Graphic life situations, hot loving, the interaction between strong people whose bonds of friendship can survive just about anything, and the story of two people who both need to find new strength within themselves in order to move on with their own lives and each other. It's the stuff of which great novels are made. Most of all, it was like watching time lapse photography as the two main characters found "their own groove" so to speak. And in so doing, they found a way to not only strengthen their ability to love but the relationship that grew up between them was awesome. Add in the twists and turns that kept sneaking up on the reader as well as the undercover crime that not only horrified strictly on a human level but also had personal ramifications for the heroine, and you have a compelling read that won't turn loose of the reader until the final sentence. Then you'll definitely want to move on to book three.

Even though this book had me going "Really? Really?" a few times, I liked it as a whole.

The same plot devices are used repeatedly in romance novels and whenever I found the story headed into one of those overused directions, the author threw me for a loop. Either, she wouldn't let the story go in that direction for very long or she'd blow my freaking mind with something so disturbing, I could no longer associate it with the tired plot devices of other stories.

Seriously. This book gets gross. As a horribly perverted hussy with little shame, I was okay with this. But I was surprised at the same time. So uh, be warned, I guess. There are gaping buttholes.

I could nitpick about things, but I really don't feel like it. It was a solid, enjoyable story and though I'm not really interested in the other books of this series, I'm definitely interested in reading more from Jayne Rylon.

Edit: I take it back, I'm not interested in reading more from Jayne Rylon because everything else looks to be menage. I think this is her only book that isn't.

Hot, hot, hot!!! What an amazing read, I thought I loved Night is Darkest, but this book is even more love-worthy!! Razor survived his attack, and he has one chance to prove himself or he is off the force. Fighting his own demons he goes undercover to get information from Isabella. Unfortunately for him, they spark and burn anytime they close to each other, a constant occurrence when you are dance partners. It takes us a good part of the book to get Isabella's story, and when you do, your heart breaks for her and Razor is soft a softy for her, it is all breathtaking who they interact and connect with each other. It is such a treat to read about two softies that are strong as steel!!

I couldn't finish reading it. I just couldn't. Let me first say I found the hero, Razor or James, so immature. He sounded like a 16-year-old rather than a 24-year-old. I sort of liked the heroine a little more until the part where they check for her virginity. Oh God. I stopped reading a little after that. No way, I couldn't keep up. The writing wasn't bad, but I couldn't feel a thing about our hero. Yep, and that is a huge turn off for me. I know a lot of people liked this book, good for you but for me it was a waste of my money. I wouldn't recommend it and I sure as hell deleted it from my tablet.
