Nina | 6069 comments We did have strong winds but no damage/no thunderstorms or even rain. We are in a drought and need rain.

message 1752: by Joy H., Group Founder (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Glad you've had no damage from the wind, Nina.

message 1753: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments So far out Dec weather above normal with temp predicted to reach 60 degrees this week. Last week not the same/some cold rain on Thanksgiving unfortunatley and ice in western part of state. Here you never know what's coming next.

message 1754: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Us either. Started out freezing lately, but the afternoons have been nice. Yesterday, the frost was still on the bushes until almost noon & I was in shirtsleeves by 3pm.

message 1755: by Joy H., Group Founder (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Current temp here is 33 F.

message 1756: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments Sunny abd near sixty. Wonder if your weather is the same jIm?

message 1757: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I don't think we hit 50 today & we started out about freezing. I think it gets a little warmer tomorrow, but not much.

message 1758: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments They are predicting near seventy degrees, can you believe on Thursday/and it really is December. I had my last injection this afternoon. Not completely cured but hopeful this one does the job. Have a consultaion of all times on Christmas eve.

message 1759: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Wow! That's really warm. Hope the last shot does the trick.

message 1760: by Joy H., Group Founder (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Jim wrote: "... Hope the last shot does the trick."

I hope the same, Nina.

Current temp here is 32F.

message 1761: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments Weather so nice here/in the lower sixties and no wind and sunshine. Due to change overnight, but that's KS.

message 1762: by Joy H., Group Founder (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Current temp here is 53F. Sun is shining.

message 1763: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments That too is very nice, Joy. Is that above average for your place? Our is supposed to be in the forties in December.

message 1764: by Joy H., Group Founder (last edited Dec 12, 2015 01:40PM) (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Nina, I'm sure that the average must be much cooler. IIRC, we has snow early last year and a lot of people didn't put up their outdoor decorations and lights soon enough. This year the outdoor lights seem to be up early around the homes in the area.

message 1765: by Joy H., Group Founder (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments PS-Sometimes I think the outdoor lights around the homes are the best part of the holiday!

message 1766: by Mary JL (new)

Mary JL (maryjl) | 527 comments It has been raining CONTINOUSLY since Saturday morning in Omaha---and most of Nebraska as well!!

I have lived her 65 years and I surely do not recall such a long stretch of rain. Over 3.5" of rain!

The only good thing is the temperatures have remained above freezing---so far! A very cold wind is accompanying the rain and it is just plain nasty.

On the positive side, I do have a stack of books yet to read.......

message 1767: by Joy H., Group Founder (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Mary JL, also on the positive side is the fact that the rain is not snow. :)

message 1768: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) We're warm today, but really windy. We got a bit of rain, but it blew through too fast & hard. Lots of branches down on the road this morning & no sleep after about 4am. Just too noisy.

message 1769: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments We welcome our rain but not the noisey tree blowing done kind. My husband has to water our new tree with buckets if it doesn't rain/three times a week for fifteen minutes each time. Lots of carrying water.

message 1770: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments That was our weather last week but this week no rain in sight for a week at least. We'll probably not have a white Christmas/12 percent chance according to the weatherman.

message 1771: by Joy H., Group Founder (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Nina, these days, I can do without a white Christmas. :)

message 1772: by Werner (new)

Werner Our weather turned sharply cold yesterday, and we had our first snow of the season last night, a fairly heavy one. But the temperature has once again risen above freezing, so the snow has virtually all melted by now.

message 1773: by Joy H., Group Founder (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments This morning we woke up to a slight covering of snow everywhere. Not a welcome sight! Current temp is 30F.

message 1774: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) No snow, but we're in the mid 20s again. Brrr.

message 1775: by Joy H., Group Founder (last edited Dec 20, 2015 07:50AM) (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments I guess winter is really here! Current temp is 34F.

message 1776: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) The first day of winter here starts out at almost 60 degrees with rain.

message 1777: by Joy H., Group Founder (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Jim wrote: "The first day of winter here starts out at almost 60 degrees with rain."

That's so unusual! Our temp here is 43F. It's raining. It's better than snow!

message 1778: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments Sunday morning they are predicting wind chill of below zero. BRRR. We are staying in and missing Mass that day. NO sense taking a chance on getting pneumonia.

message 1779: by Joy H., Group Founder (last edited Jan 08, 2016 05:14PM) (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments They predict mixed rain, snow and sleet ("a wintry mix") this weekend here. Doesn't sound good.

message 1780: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments Stay warm, Joy and don't fall on the ice.

message 1781: by Joy H., Group Founder (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments You too, Nina.

message 1782: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments Thanks, only time I am worried is when I venture out to the bird feeer.

message 1783: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Winter has suddenly hit us. Yesterday it was in the mid 50s. Last night winter blew in at about 60 mph (It's blowing our dog door open.) with rain that is now snow. When I woke up it was 33 & less than an hour later it was 31. We're not supposed to get above freezing the rest of this week.

message 1784: by Mary JL (new)

Mary JL (maryjl) | 527 comments Currently in Omaha, Nebraska the air temperature is -1F and the wind chill is -21F!!!

Unbelievable!

message 1785: by Joy H., Group Founder (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Jim and Mary JL, sorry to hear about your bad weather. Hope it will pass soon. We have rain here and 41F.

message 1786: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) It's 21 here now with a wicked hard & cold wind. The dogs are content to stay inside, but the ground isn't frozen yet so the horses are still bouncing around. I just saw Topaz & Indy playing. Lots of bucking, rearing, & tearing around. Topaz really got his coat in quickly under Marg's ministrations. No more blanket for him.

message 1787: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments No snow, no rain but it was 7 degrees and bitter cold when I ventured out to feed the birds this morning.

message 1788: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments Oh Omaha is even worse than KS...Stay warm as you can.

message 1789: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Brrr..

message 1790: by Joy H., Group Founder (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Temp here is 44 but will go down tonight. Sorry to hear about the bitter cold elsewhere. Our turn will come. :)

message 1791: by Werner (new)

Werner From being 45 degrees here this morning, our temperature fell through the day, to the point where it was 26-27 degrees around dusk. Also, the snow began to fall heavily in the late afternoon. So it looks like our weather is sharing in the general pattern. :-(

message 1792: by Joy H., Group Founder (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments Hope your snow won't amount to too much, Werner.

message 1793: by Werner (new)

Werner Thanks, Joy; we'll have to see. (Crosses fingers.)

message 1794: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments Be glad you aren't here. Our temp this morning was 2 degrees. But, warmer weather is on the way even as the evening progresses it is warming up. Tomorrow afternoon will be forty and no snow is any forcast for the next week. So far we've had an inch a week ago.

message 1795: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Oh yuck. It was 7 degrees out when I left the house this morning. Marg said it was 5 when she got up a couple of hours later. Still not light out, so it might go down a bit more. Yuck yuck yuck brrr...
:(

message 1796: by Joy H., Group Founder (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments It's 25 F here right now. The sun is out. Hope it warms up for all of you... and us too! :) I'm already longing for spring.

message 1797: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments Jim, it was two degrees here yesterday morning but this afternoon is up to forty. Not warm as there is a cold wind but not two degrees. Maybe this is headed your way. A warming trend.

message 1798: by Nina (new)

Nina | 6069 comments When the wind bites you it's time for spring to appear. Today I watered all my indoor plants and swept up their leaves. Lots of work and perhaps I won't overwinter all of them next winter.

message 1799: by Joy H., Group Founder (new)

Joy H. (joyofglensfalls) | 16697 comments I'm starting to think about getting rid of some of my indoor plants. The do get messy and require attention.

message 1800: by Werner (new)

Werner Joy H. wrote: "Hope your snow won't amount to too much, Werner."

Joy, our snow here did indeed turn out not to amount to much, just a light dusting. It's still quite cold, though!
