Please Introduce Yourself, Let's All Get To Know Each Other
Hi,I am kinda new to Goodreads and and very new to this group. I absolutely love reading (I spend a lot of time on trains) and have joined this site/group for ideas of new books to read and hopefully to get some good recommendations from my friend list.
I also like movies/tv dramas but "you just cant beat a good book". Never a truer word said.
Welcome Richard! I think you'll find more books than can fill a thousand train rides here. Happy reading!
Hello Everyone, I am Lyric. Like everyone else here I love to read. I prefer thrillers but sometimes I step away and try something new. Patricia Cornwell, James Patterson, and Jonathan Kellerman are some of my favorites. If I read horror I typically look for something from Dean Koontz.I have read romance, as all of my friends always recommend them but I always hate them. I figure I have enough romance in my life from my husband. I don`t need to read about it.
I like to read a good novel that keeps me guessing and then turn around and read an easy read. It's what I do.
Anyways I am really excited about joining the group and look forward to meeting like minded people and sharing good reads.

Check out if Susan May could be something for you. She's one of the members in this group :-)
Welcome Lyric,
Susan May will be doing a special on her book, late December for a readalong in January 2016.

Hello!I'm Jennifer, and I enjoy classic mysteries, poetry and literature, and I'm the author of the Moriston House Mystery Series.
Greetings to all of the readers and writers out there!
Hello everyone! I'm Robin Burcell. Retired cop and total rookie to posting on Goodreads, even though I've been a member since, well, way back when. I'm an author. I write mysteries, thrillers and now action adventure. I also have one romance written in 1995. (Noticed Lyric mention that she's tried it, doesn't like it. So double daring her to look at that one and see if it changes her mind any! It's a time travel/mystery/romance. Thought I'd throw in everything on my first time out of the chute.)Sean has invited me to be an author in a December read-along for my latest book, THE LAST GOOD PLACE, a reboot of the late Carolyn Weston novels, which were the basis for the hit TV show The Streets of San Francisco.
I'm very much looking forward to your event, so thanks for inviting me!
I'd hoped to post on here much sooner, but am still fighting off bronchitis and haven't had much strength. Going in for more tests. (Ugh.) I've also been on a tight deadline for a book that I'm co-writing with Clive Cussler in his Fargo series, which will be out next Sept. (I'm very excited about this project!)
That's about it! So, hope I haven't committed any/many transgressions, as this is my first post to a group on GR!
Best,
Robin
Thanks Robin for introducing yourself.
Clive Cussler project sounds exciting.
I am still recovering, very slowly from my 5 weeks off, back to work two weeks ago, but still struggling.
Our readalong this month with Heather Burnside is going great, please do have a look.
Members will hopefully start buying your book on kindle book, 3-4 week of November ready for the readalong.
I am looking forward to comments, as I enjoyed the book.

Hi, Diane. Here's a YouTube link to welcome you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g08-_... This isn't meant ot signify anything beyond the fact that that's what was cued up on my playlist.
Sorry to hear that Aaron. I too have struggled with depression on and off and know how crippling it can be. Hasn't snowed here yet in Ga! I don't think it's gotten below 40 degrees here yet. I'm wondering if this year we will have a snowy Christmas or a 70 degree one.
Aaron I agree! I've had to be on 2 meds after both of my babies as I am prone to post partum. When I'm not depressed I'm typically on meds for anxiety and OCD. (Just can't win, am I right??) it's always refreshing to share with someone who understands and I'm glad you decided to trust us!
I'm sure you would wonder how many of us here are struggling with depression if some would be much more open :-) I just didn't want to disturb you discussion so didn't join earlier :-)
It's generally not a topic openly discussed. Their's no reason this should still be the case. It's an old school attitude that mental problems should be hidden from society.
Diane Lynch wrote: "It's generally not a topic openly discussed. Their's no reason this should still be the case. That way it took me ten years to go to a doctor between the moment I realized there is something really wrong and when I almost broke completely down and had to give up my first thesis three weeks before completion.
Yes that is the attitude I grew up with also. The old way of thinking when people didn't understand the cause of these problems. Because of the nature of the problem people still generally choose to try and keep it to themselves. Others that see it don't want to say anything because they don't want to upset or alienate that person. Times are changing slowly.
Welcome all new members!!! Have fun in this little group of ours.Aaron (well, Aaron for now, and Chels) good luck with that working with your depression. It is a tough thing. I periodically have some struggles with depression and it is no fun. And, it is hard to pull yourself out of. If, I could recommend any one book out there, I would recommend David D. Burns, M.D.'s "Feeling Good." This is a deep book that spends a lot of time on cognitive thoughts and exercises - it is not this week's celebrity fluff. If you are up to the challenge, you may wish to give it a try.
Hi- I'm Kat from Boston. I'm a librarian and musician and love thrillers and mysteries. Thanks for the invite Sean.

Hi Kat. Diane from NY. I'm also fairly new to the group. I love Boston. Used to go there as often as possible. Had two elderly relatives that passed away years ago from Jamaica Plain. I picked out a house on Marlboro St. Beyond my means unfortunately.

You're welcome.
Hi all! Thanks to my friend Christine for the invite! I'm Suzanne, a mother of four who loves to read of course. I live in Sydney, so am happy that we are heading into my favourite summer season! Thrillers are one of my fave genres. I look forward to seeing what is good out there!
Hi Suzanne. Diane from the other side of the world. New York. As it gets hot there it gets cold here. Plenty to do with THIS group. I joined not too long ago and really enjoy it.
