I would've like to meet some werewolves. I heard most of them are hot.

I hope everyone in the Philippines can stay as safe as possible. <3

Awe that's no fun. I had a reading slump earlier in the year and it was awful. Hopefully you get through it fast! Try re-reading one of your favorite books. That might work.

Tati I know the Kindle is really big out there, but does anyone have a Kobo?

message 3519: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90920 comments Mod
I think Maddison has a Kobo ☺

message 3520: by Tati (new)

Tati Sarah, you have a Kindle, right? How do you find it?

message 3521: by Abi (last edited Nov 09, 2013 11:19AM) (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments Kindles are great, Tatiana. :)
Amazon have some really good sales as well.

message 3522: by Tati (new)

Tati The thing is:

I'm not brave enough to take my iPad with me when I have to take the bus. But my iPod touch is slowly dying. I was thinking of gettin a new iPod touch, but I'm not sure it makes that much sense, as it is pretty expensive here, and my iPod nano is working as it should.

So, I was thinking of buying an e-Reader. Here in Brazil, I can easily buy either Kobo or Kindle. But Kindle, apparently, doesn't support ePub books, and all my library is in that format. Which is why I'm leaning towards Kobo now.

I love my kindle, but it drives me nuts sometimes too. I wrecked a regular kindle within a few months because I downloaded too many books onto it and it couldn't hack it. Had to switch to a kindle fire as the web browsing and downloading is much better, and its been fine until it's birthday a week ago. today I had to completely wipe it and start again because it just kept freezing on me. its working better now, but its still not back to how it was. I think I'm just hard on kindles though because of the speed I read and how many books I read. no-one else I know has this problem!

message 3524: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90920 comments Mod
The advantage with the kindle is that you can send books from netgalley straight to it, and keep them forever - they don't expire like the downloaded pdf's do.

message 3525: by Abi (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments If you already have loads of books in Epub, then the Kobo is probably the best for you. :)

They have the Kobo in mini version as well, if you don't like carrying electronics around. The kobo mini fits comfortably in one hand.

message 3526: by Abi (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments When i was looking at ereaders, i found a "kindle vs kobo" thing on google. Maybe you could look it up?

You could always convert your books to mobi format as you needed them. it takes a while but its worth it in the end. I use this site - http://www.zamzar.com/
you upload files, tell them what format you want them in, and they email you back a link so that you can download the file in the requested format. its very useful!

Tati Thanks, girls!

You've been very helpful!

Abbie, I followed your advice and found some pages comparing Kindle Paperwhite with Kobo Glo.

As I'd only be able to get my hands on either of them in December (b-day+Christmas), I still have some time to make my choice.

The problem is not even carrying electronics around, but having them stolen...

I don't like having electronics on buses either. they're so easily snatched out of your hand :(

message 3533: by Tati (new)

Tati As I spent quite a while on buses (far more than I'd like), I do use my iPod Touch to read on the bus. The thing is, this iPod is so old that having it stolen would actually be a favor LOL. Not so with a new reading device.

And carrying an actual book around is too much weight. Some people do use those big Samsung smartphones on the bus, so I'm guessing that an e-reader would be kind of okay (less troublesome/worrisome than an iPad).

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments I went through some of the videos on youtube, and found one comparing the kindle paperwhite to the kobo glo.(Those were the options you had, weren't they?)

message 3536: by Abi (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments It might be a good idea to compare the amount of ebooks each site has.
Amazon have loads of freebies, but i'm not sure about Whsmiths.

message 3537: by Tati (new)

Tati Yeah, which is why I only use it when I'm home...

Abbie, thanks for the video!

Question about the Kindle Paperwhite: do the pages turn quickly? Or is there a lag?

message 3538: by Abi (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments I have the paperwhite, and the pages do turn quick. :)
The light is really good on it as well.

message 3539: by Tati (new)

Tati Good point about the freebies! I'd be getting a lot of books for free, since buying books abroad (even digital ones) is ridiculously expensive, thanks to the taxes we have to pay on international credit card transactions (6,38% of the purchase), not to mention the exchange rates and bank fees.
