Congratulations on your blogoversary!
How are you doing after the typhoon? How are things by you?

Ransom Riggs said he never had a more awesome experience with his fans than he did in the Phillipines. Made me think of you Jona :)

Manila, our capital, was not hit by the typhoon. But our provinces in the southern part really suffered. We are grieving whenever we watch the news, houses were destroyed, there are no food and shelter. It felt like watching World War Z. :( I mean, people are stealing food and gasoline because there are no sources available. I'm not sure how many people died, 500 plus I think, but there are many who weren't found yet. :(

I just read the news, my goodness....I never thought the impact will be like that. It reminds me of 2005 Tsunami that happened in one of provinces in Indonesia. My prayer with your country, Jona.

YAYNESS! I was there too! Spent the weekend hanging out with my good buddy Veronica Rossi! So glad you got your books signed! It was so much fun, wasn't it?

OMGosh...that Tigerbeat session was AMAZING! So much FUN! I loved the bouncing beach ball, too! YALL fest was the BEST!

I so loved that! But I think I loved PURPLE RAIN more...so great! Glad you all had so much fun. Veronica Rossi and I had a BLAST! So great to see YALL! :)

I was there too! Hanging out with my good friend Veronica Rossi! So glad you got your book signed! She's wonderful, right?

It really doesn't.
Apart from characters names, it's completely different.
the characters aren't even like the books. I think Elena is a blonde cheerleader in the books, and the most popular girl in the school.

The one that plays Bonnie would have made the PERFECT Merideth.

I don't think it really matters, the books and tv show are so different, that it doesn't really matter if you've read the books. in fact you will go through the tv show saying 'that never happened', 'damon would never do that', 'where is ....' etc.
they are like two totally different things, not like harry potter which pretty much follows the storyline of the books.

the secret circle is very similar also, the tv show is not much like the books at all. they haven't even bothered to use all the characters in the tv show. in the book the coven is 12 people, on the tv show it's only 6! That really annoyed me.

we are all thinking of you! hope relief efforts get there soon!

I hardly ever buy translations. Oddly, importing books in English is cheaper (and faster) than waiting for the translation. But today, I decided to browse the books in Portuguese, and the change of titles in translation was astonishing.
For instance, Nightshade, by Andrea Cremer, became Under the Moonlight. The sequel, Wolfsbane, became Blood Moon...

Another thing that seriously annoys me is when they translate characters' names. For instance, James Potter became Tiago Potter in Portuguese.

I lent my aunt a book a couple of years ago, and it came back with no cover, badly cracked spine, and dog eared pages. :(
I've never let her borrow any more since.
I lent out one that looked like it did New. Came back looking like a dog had chewed on it. Didn't lend her the rest of the series! People wouldn't do that if you lent them clothes or tools or something, why do they think it's okay to do that with books?!

She said she'll replace it. But I doubt that would happen. Now she got a hold of another book of mine. And the worse is the one I lent it to, lend it to her! That's very rude. I wasn't informed. I never wanted to lend her and now this happens :(
That's really unfair. I only lend books that are already messed up now, as the only person i trust not to destroy them is my dad. my friend never replaced my copy that she wrecked either, even though she then bought a copy for herself!

And people make fun of me because of that...
That is what I'm like. my dad used to work in a shop that sold books, and he could read a book, and nobody would know it had even been opened. people thought he was lying! My books that I bought new have been read and still look the same as when I got them.
I get annoyed when a book arrives from amazon or the book depository, and although its new they've managed to crease the cover, or damage it in some way. It's really annoying!

I refuse to lend mine out to anyone now.

Nobody believes that i've read most of mine either.
I was ordering a book while one of my cousins was here, and she asked why i was buying new ones when i had about 350 to read, and loads on my kindle.
I told her i read about 300 of those, and she didn't believe me.
The only ones you can i've read are the huge ones, that break really easily.

I do that in asda, people look at you like you're a nutter!
I do it in the works. quite a few of their books are damaged so I go through all the piles looking for the best ones ☺

I knocked down a massive pile in the works once, doing that. It was so embarrassing. :(
You have to get right to the back to find ones in good condition there... You have to have someone with you to hold piles of them for you really! Haha.
I don't mind buying used books. I'm too cheap to always buy new ones. I'm happy to buy a book that's a bit worse for wear if it's only costing me 50p. I've even had some that I only paid 20p for. It's difficult to find the ones you really want a lot of the time though.
