*I stop pushing* They are already retreating. Strange.
You still feel them???? Unless some got through that would mean the gate's still there...
*I reach out then shake my head* No the feeling is gone. Must have been an imprint I felt when the gate closed.
*Mike opens the blast shields and brings the sensors back on line*Wait...we've got a reading, two ships moving away fast. Looks like part of the fleet slipped through. The gate's gone though.
I guess we can alert some of our friends about this, they left the system though.
No...wait...I think it's okay. I got a reading from them before they left. They were running from something else. I pushed the ships back but those two were being chased by some alien that wanted to kill them. Those ships have a lot of refugees on them.
We can hope... Think we should alert someone? The Federation? Riddick?
*I think for a moment* Maybe...just so that they can help them find a new place to live would be nice. By not Riddick...still not happy with him. *I pout and cross my arms over my chest*
* Mike hugs her and kisses her with a smile.*Cool, we'll alert the Federation.
* Mike leans back and breaths out*
So, want to go home. We seem to be undiscovered at least for a while more.
What about our own three refuges? What should we do with them?
Well for now let them rest, feed them. Then maybe we can find out where they're from and where they'd like to go. We know of at least 3 human colonies where they can go if they want.
Well in that case...homes Jeeves. *I giggle and sit back in the chair, eyeing where the gate had been.* Can we go back to not having to deal with too much excitement? It's bad for your cholesterol. *I giggled again*
I'll have you know my cholesterol is fine...I just need more exercise. You can help with that.Well, after we find a home for our charges.
Oh really? You want to chase me around our planet for exercise huh? * I wink playfully at you*
Well...we can start that way.* They both begin to relax just a little.*
*I shake my head* You can't catch me, love, but you can try. * I lean over and kiss you slow and passionately before I sit back and snuggle into the chair on the flight back to our planet*
I'll cheat...remember I can communicate with animals. I'll get help catching you. I have no scruples. * Mike smiles*Okay we should be back in an hour or so, want something to drink?
Yes please...something with an umbrella I think. That or a drink with mint leaves. I'm thinking alcohol sounds good right now. And no cheating allowed, sir.
Ha....so you think. * The smile becomes a grin* I'll see what the ship can whip up. Of course I'll have iced tea as I'm the designated driver. * He kisses her cheek as he leaves the seat and heads for the galley.*
The ship can fly itself you know. *I call after you with a smile*
Okay....let me just adjust the auto pilot. There now it will take us three hours to get home...
That's fine with me. At least now you can relax a little and have a drink with me instead of just a soda.
I don't know...once I have a slug of alcohol I may go to sleep...for a couple of days. Think I'll stick with caffeine, and maybe a sandwich.
*Pouts playfully at you* Party pooper
We can party when we're not hurtling through space at a fraction of light speed. Well...we can party other ways if you want, but I need to stay sober. * Mike smiles*
Anyway...you want a burger or something? We have time if you want to eat.
I'll play any way you want. *I wink* and yes a burger and fries and a salad with lots of croutons and ranch dressing sounds good.
Me to, except I think I'll go with coleslaw.
*I hop up and walk with you so that we can go get the food together* We better take food to our new friends as well. They are probably up, restless, and hungry.
Think they're awake? Yeah, let's look in on them. We can see what they'd like as well as how they are.[off to bed to read my Kindle. night]
Sounds like a plan. * I smile as I walk to their room, quietly letting the door open to see that they were in deed awake, looking more refreshed since they had a long rest and a shower* Yep awake and looking much better.(Night)
* Mike follows a little later with soft drinks for the "survivors". *So, how is everyone?
*The little girl smiles up at you and waves shyly. The two women eye you then look at each other with a slight grin to one another, obviously thinking that your cute*
So...I guess everybody has questions? First are you hungry?* Mike offers the soft drinks all around *
*They each took a soft drink, gernoursly, and sip on it, enjoying the fizz as it went down. One of the women smiles* We are quite hungry. None of us have eaten in a while so yes food would be greatly appreciated.
Ummm...I don't know where you're from. What would you like?
*The women think for a moment. The girl looks up at you and smiles* Sushi? Frog legs?
*The women nod but the girl makes a face, causing the women to laugh, telling the girl, who they called Sophia, that she needs to eat her greens too*
* Mike whispers to the girl* Don't worry we can also have any dessert you want....would you prefer a burger and fries to sushi?
* all the time looking innocently at the two women.*
*She wrinkles her forehead then grins and nods, saying yes to the burger and fries. I watch from the door, smiling at how you and the girl get along. I shift a little in jealousy as the women once again whisper to one another, eyeing you.*
*It takes a few minutes to get the food...mike brings the child's meal on a tray looking innocent and about 12 years old. The he sits down next to lacy, puts his arm around her and kisses her. *
So, now where are you from? And if I can ask, how did you get here?
*The women see you hug and kiss me before they nibble on their food. Sophia sits up straight and tells us that they were from the planet Earth but in an Earth in a different dimension from us. Then she talks about aliens attacking and destroying most of Earth and how they had several ships take off and disappear, either being blown up or jumping into other dimensions. She then said that they were being chased but when they tried to jump they couldn't. Finally they did but the gate closed on them and the ship following them was destroyed. Sophia said that they got stuck between their dimension and ours and they were like that for seven days straight. The captain went mad and began killing people while they kept jumping from dimension to dimension. She looks down sadly and tell us that her mom and dad were killed saving her life*
* Mike picks the little girl up and holds her on his lap (though she continues to eat her burger and munch her fries)*Well, we can't make things that have happened different but we can do our best to make things safe here. So do you know if any more of your people got into our universe?
* Mike thinks a moment and then adds *
Also it would be good if you will tell us what you can about these aliens. They may exist here to, since humans do.
*Sophia stops eating and shook her head. She had seen everyone else die except for herself, Lily and Tara, the two women she was with. Tara holds up a few papers, being pictures of the aliens hat she had taken, she being a photographer*
Hummm....interesting. I'll run a search on these.* Mike turns to Lacy*
Have you ever seen a species like this anywhere?
*I look at the pictures* Looks like those things from Predator.
Predator? Somewhere you've been....or have I forgotten something?* Dropping the pictures beside the women Mike holds the little girl with one arm and squeezes Lacy's hand.*
You know the movie...Predator..Aliens vs Predators. That's exactly what they look like. But I've always thought they were just things...a dangerous thing from someone's imagination.
Preds??? Huh... Well, we'll forward this to others to just in case. Meanwhile, what shall we do concerning our new friends?* Mike is still holding the little girl on his lap*

*She smiles at you and nods at the ice cream question. She then tells you her name is Sophia Rogers and that she was 8 years old*
