Oookkaayyy... Let's go. Eggs, and whatever kind of meat you'd like waiting, also toast, and cereal and some grapefruit if you'd like. Whatever you like.

*I giggle at walk past you mentally saying to you* She already has you wrapped around her finger. *I head for the mess hall, Sophia wiggling around in your arms to get down and run after me*
* As Mike catches up carrying Sophia...and the puppy he kisses Lacy's cheek and whispers in her ear* I know.
*The galley is busy as the two women have served themselves from the food ports. They eat as they also stare at the other dogs...the small winged tiger, the winged cats and the "non-winged cats all waiting to be fed. The cats cleaning themselves the dogs waiting patiently...puppies and kittens mixed in.
Mike sets Sophia down and gets her some juice (as she squeals with delight at the at the animals) then Mike sets about feeding the said animals. *
*Tor walks over to Sophia and nudges her gently receiving scratches behind the ears and kisses on the forehead. Tor closes his eyes purring and asks you and me if we can keep her. I laugh and sit down saying good morning to the women before I turn back to watch Tor nod Sophia*
* Mike eating his usual steak and eggs finishes quickly and heads for the control room. Asking if the women have decided which colonies they'd like to contact.*
*The women nodded and asked for two different colonies having decided to part ways. The captain's wife chose a colony several light years to the east of us while the other chose a colony only three light years away to the northwest of us*
Okay....we'll need to put you in contact with the colony authority in each case. Then when you've worked out your reception, we'll handle getting you there. Please don't ask about our coordinates. We like to avoid unexpected visitors.
*They nod and go back to their rooms to freshen up. I get Sophia and myself food and we sit together and eat.*
* Mike sets up separate connections (and without mentioning it sets the ship to record the conversations). Then goes to join Lacy and Sophia. *
*Sophia takes a big bite of her pancakes with a huge grin on her face. I take a smaller bite of my biscuits and gravy with a smile on my face. I look up as you enter * Everything good to go?
*Sophia dribbles a little syrup in her chin with the next bite. She chews thoughtfully then looks at us* If they leave, where will I go?
* Mike sits down...wipes her chin with a napkin before the puppy can lick her clean puts his face close*We were hoping you might like to live with us...and the animals of course. We can travel around for you to visit places and learn things, till you decide what you want to be when you grow up.
*She smiles up at you and looks at the animals. She looks back at you and tells you that she already knows what she wants to be when she grows up*
*she nibbles on her bacon then points towards the animals* I want to be a veterinarian and a zoo keeper. *she grins at you*
Wow, both. That will be handy. Well I think we can help there. Plus we can help you learn other things that you'll need to know to learn those things.Well as soon as we help the two ladies find homes we can introduce you to our horses and the other animals here. As it happens, lacy and I can communicate with most animals.
*her jaw dropped as she looked from you to me to the animals and back to us* Naw aw!
Sure, it's part of something that happened to us. Some of it was bad but aside from the bad stuff we learned we could hear animals in our heads. We each sort of have different talents.It's like what happened to Joseph in the Bible when his brothers sold him into slavery to hurt him, but Gd used it to do something good. People tried to hurt us but we came away able to talk to animals and other things.
* One of the winged kittens lands on Sophia's shoulder and rubs it's cheek against her's.*
*Sophia giggles and rubs the kitten's head before she looks at us* Totally cool. *I smile and finish my breakfast in silence as I watch the two of you*
* The first of the two women comes out carrying a printout. She hands it to me with the coordinates of a planet and a landing sight on the planet. I take it to Lacy.*Okay, once we get the information from your cohort we can get ready and go. So you've got a spot waiting?
*She nods her head excitedly just as her friend shows up and hands me her paper with coordinates also excited about her spot she got* Well looks like both of you are set.
Okay...let me double check things around the place, turn out the horses and so on and we'll set in the course. We need to get the best course to take us in a good loop.
*Sophia jumps up quickly* Can I help with the horses? I want to see the animals! *I laugh and take the plates away and look at you* Well looks like you have a helper, Mike.
Sure...we're going to turn them and the wolfhounds out so they can graze and get water while we're gone, of course the wolfhounds help protect the horses from animals that hunt, but they're friendly.* Mike takes Sophia and introduces her to the animals mentally telling them she's now part of the herd or pack. Soon they are back, Sophia greatly excited. *
*The women are in their rooms. I am lounging on the floor in the library reading with Tor lying under my head reading his own book.*
* Sophia with her puppy in her arms rushes in, tumbles over Lacy and Tor and begins tell all about the animals. Mike grins and goes about finial preparations to lift the ship off and get to the jump point at the rim of the system.He steps into the room.*
Okay we're ready to go. As soon as you give the word I'll secure all the bookshelves and other openings behind the shields. * He then clicks the ship wide intercom so the women can hear* We all need to strap in for lift off.
* Mike walks on in the room and reaches down for Lacy's hand* The other animals are ready, we need to get Tor into his safety bed and help Sophia secure the puppy. She can strap in on the bridge with us in one of the spare seats if she wants.
*I reach up and take your hand, pulling myself up. Tor mumbles something about hating taking off as he stands and stretches. I out my book away as well as his and we walk Tor to his safety bed, strap him in then the three of us head for the bridge. I strap Sophia in before I strap myself in and look over at you* Ready to go, captain.
* Mike calls the two women in their rooms to be sure they're strapped in. Then the ship lifts off.*Okay, in auto pilot we should reach the jump point in about 12 hours and then according to the computer we have a three day jump to our first destination.
*Sophia watches the stars shine around them, enjoying the views, obviously having been let up on the deck of the other ship with the captain and his wife quite often before the captain went crazy. She looks at you* Will you show me how to fly a ship one day?
Yes, it's a good skill. just learn your math well.
*Sophia made a face and I laughed* Trust me, Soph, I know exactly how you feel about math. Math and I antenatal the best of friends but I get by.
Well...it's pretty important if you want to come out in the right place than...inside a star or something.But foe now we're on auto pilot and I don't expect anything to attack us in the system so what say we go and have a swim in the zero gravity swim space...
*Sophia hopped out of the chair, squealing in delight at the thought. I stand up and stretch* Lead the way, lover.
* The room is off the gym as it's meant for exercise (this being basically a military ship) but it's big enough for several people to zero G exercise at once. Dressed in jump suits one can bounce off the cushioned walls and learn to maneuver in zero G. Sophia however seems happy to just bounce about the room giggling.After about a half hour a tone goes off that the ship is being programed. This is too soon as the ship is still an hour + out from the jump point. Mike goes to see if there's a malfunction or something. *
*I keep Sophia busy, worried as to why the alarm went off but kept laughing and clapping to keep Sophia from becoming worried herself. I wait until you come back before I ask what was going on, keeping our girl busy*
* After about 15 minutes it seems odd Mike hasn't returned.*
*I chew on my lower lip* Sophia, lets go find out what's taking Mike so long, ok? *Sophia agreed and we both left hand in hand, looking everywhere for you*
* Not far from the control room you find Mike inside a small storage space, unconscious. A small dart protrudes from the back of his neck.*
Mike! *I let Sophia's hand go and pull the dart free from your neck. I turn around pushing Sophia closer to you, my eyes scanning the area, my cat eyes flashing dangerously as I look for the person who has shot you* Come out come out whoever you are. I'm not one who likes to play games like this kind of game!
* There's a subtle change in the "feel" of the ship. You've felt it so often that you know the ship has jumped into hyper drive and we're in hyperspace now. Sophia crawls back into a corner behind Mike's inert form.Has someone else gone crazy around the ladies?
*My forehead wrinkles at the change in the atmosphere as we shift into hyperspace. I shake my head and look back to you before I turn to keep my eyes on the corridor and the doors as I move back to you and Sophia.* Something's not right. E just jumped into hyperspace but I don't know if we are heading the right way or if we jumped to another location. Someone shot you with a knock out dart...something feels wrong.
* Sophia looks up at you. She has taken hold of my hand, though I'm still out* Mama Lacy...has someone else gone crazy like on the other ship? The ladies used to be with captain over there a lot and then he went crazy and so did others and they started killing people. Some of us they just locked up. When they found me they took me and hid and I think they killed a lot of other people who wanted to get me out. Are they making things crazy again?
*I look down at Sophia* I don't know sweetheart but I am going to find out. Stay with Mike. Tor! *I turn just as the white winged tiger comes running towards us. He stops and smiles at Sophia before he turns and places himself in between you and Mike and whatever threat that might come his way* I'll be right back. Don't go anywhere. Tor will protect you and the other animals aren't too far away either, they can be here in just a second. *I turn and slip away from you, checking inside the rooms close by*
* As Lacy approaches the control room she hears a "click" behind her.*Just stand still. We've been watching you for a while now. My friend is great at hacking into security systems. It was nice of Mike to amp up all those cameras. Now you have a choice you can go and drag your boy friend back to a room and lock yourselves in till we get to our destination...or I can knock you out till we get there. I'd kill you but you and he are too valuable.
You know there's been a search on for you two for a long time. You carry mutated genes that are....greatly desired. My friend and I stand to make a fortune off you and he alone. Throw in the kid and we can buy our own planet.
Of course there's one that we can just claim now. It'll make a great home base if we decide to continue hunting bounties.
And don't think I won't do what's necessary. I wiped out an entire colony ship to get my hands on that kid. As valuable as you two are you're nothing to what she's worth.
* As Lacy eases around (staying ready to strike though also trying not to show it) she sees the large dog that always follows Mike around on the floor with a dart in it. One of the two women passengers holds a gas powered dart gun at the ready. *
*I glare at the woman* Oh really? Ad what is so special about our Sophia?
I'm surprised you can't tell. What we had top go t5hrough to block our minds from you....* She shakes her head* You're telepathy talent has, well some people shaken.But the kid, she's going to be something to see as she grows into her power. Her parents were special and this kid won the genetics lottery. She doesn't realize now, but she has a body than can withstand vacuum for up to 5 minutes. She can hold her breath and get by on limited oxygen for maybe a half hour. She may learn to fly and develop other abilities.
Our employer needs to get her soon so he can, raise her right, to serve him.
Of course you and your boyfriend will be handy as...genetic material.
Now, grab him or I'll be forced to...make you more amenable.
* The woman doesn't notice three dogs and a half dozen cats sneaking toward her from behind.*
*I smile and shake my head* Well our family is almost complete. *I lay my hand on my stomach* This little one doesn't like you either. And he has my telepathy, daddy's strength and our ability to talk to animals. But there is one more thing that he can do. *I move towards her, my eyes flashing as a almost invisible pulse emits from my body, hitting the female backwards* He can create force fields like he has one around me right now. Soot if you want! It won't touch me.
* The dogs and cats descend on her...the largest dog running off with the dart gun.A dart sprangs off the bulkhead beside Lacy's head as the other woman exits from the control room and shoots.*
*I turn to follow the woman, unblinking as the dart hits the force field and bounces harmlessly away from me. I lift my hand and allow the baby to use me to throw an energy ball at the woman* Tsk tsk....don't run. Stay and play. You wanted to play a game and now we want to play.
