WTG team! We are doing awesome!Sheila, I am also trying to defat. I have trouble staying motivated to exercise, mainly because I get up and do it before work and I would rather sleep. :)
Good luck!
I'm so proud of me. I finally blasted my butt off the couch and went to Planet Fitness and did a round of weight machines. Once I get there it isn't so bad, it is the talking myself into going that is the big deal.Speaking of diets Leslie, depending on what gets called tomorrow it looks like you are the only one that hasn't claimed cake yet.
Once Amy finishes her eyes book we will also have emergency vehicles and rain. We are on the downhill side of this!
Yes! I will be looking for cake, Sheila. And congrats on the visit to the gym! You are right that the hardest part is convincing yourself to get moving.
Word of the week: ShoulderI will be reading
It has her shoulder on the cover and it has cake in it. Not sure what other things I should look for. Happy Reading team!!
Leslie we are pretty close with wind and necklace if you want to look for those. No pressure.I haven't figured out what to read for shoulder yet. Good idea Leslie of finding a bare shoulder on the cover. Maybe I'll try for that.
Sheila wrote: "How lucky is that. None of us had claimed shoulder yet!!!"Somehow I think you all are influencing Mr. Randomizer.
Ha Ha, Sheila!!It's pretty crazy! Last team I was on everything I picked would then be the next item.
I will be reading
. It has most of the remaining items I need, but I'm not sure which ones I will claim yet.
I figured out what I'll read. I had it on hold at the library and of course now it is available.

The Christmas Train by David BaldacciFinished 1/13 Rated ★★★★★'s.
In the book reporter Tom takes a Christmas time train from Washington DC to LA in order to write a story about cross country train travel. Instead he runs into a former love and attempts to rekindle the romance. What a great story.
I loved this. It brought back so many memories of taking the train to "exotic" destinations. My mom worked for the railroad for 30 years and we traveled a lot by train. The one big trip I remember was from Illinois to California. Great memories.
Moonlight - coupled with the moonlight reflecting off the Rhine page 55
Necklace - a chain necklace slipped out of his shirt page 65
Shoulder - she ceremoniously tapped Tom and Eleanor on the shoulders page 192
Paper - pen, paper and trusty binoculars page 25
Great review, Sheila! One of my favorite memories growing up was when my mom, me and my younger brother took a train from New Orleans to Chicago and then on to Pittsburg. And then took a train home from Wash, D.C. to New Orleans. Amazing adventure!!And great job, Team 4!!

Review
This is a first book for me from this author and it will not be the last. It's a mishmash of a genre - historical romance and suspense and a very little bit of a steampunk feel to it. The mystery/suspense is interesting though slightly convoluted, the romance is sexy and steamy, the writing good and the pace fast. It is slightly overly long but other than that very enjoyable!

This was a nice quick read! I'm really liking this series so far! I'm curious to see what happens next to these characters!
Items:
Moonlight: The moonlight shone down on them, and the yellow lines in the middle of the road began to blur. (Page 175)
Necklace: Marcy was sitting on top of the desk, even though there was a perfectly good chair next to it, and was focused on making herself a necklace out of paper clips. (Page 124)
Eyes: Her head throbbed at the memory, and she squeezed her eyes shut. (Page 1)
Shelf: Alex motioned to the shelf of books beside him. (Page 12)

Nice going team - yet another 3 items claimed. I wonder how much longer our luck can last. How is everyone doing this week? I've been busy sorting/purging/shredding paperwork and misc. other stuff from my life. My loss is Goodwill's gain I guess. I am definitely in "less is more" mode. That goes for myself personally as well. So far, so good on my defat plan.
Currently 4 degrees here in Illinois. brrr!
Okay, I've decided I'll read
for shoulder because it has all the items I've yet to claim in this book.
Wow!! Great job team!! Happy Dancing on my couch bundled in a blanket. But my feet are moving!!And Sheila, not quite that cold here in Louisiana, but cold for us! It's 30 and sleeting.
We ARE doing great. If the right item gets called this week I could finish. Last round I was the last on the team to finish.
Unfortunately Mr. Randomizer did not hear our plea. Item of the week is Emergency Vehicle which I'm pretty sure we have all claimed. Oh well. Question - I am down to one item in each grouping. Should I try to claim them this week?
I think I'm going to read Purity in Death
She drives in a squad car but I'm having a hard time finding a word to search for that pops up. Does that make sense. But I'm pretty sure I can find something.
I'm going to have to think about what book to use for emergency vehicle. I'll get back to you on it.
I'm going to claim all the items I haven't claimed before that I can. We all have to still read an emergency vehicle book in order to claim the other 3 things we haven't claimed yet.We are doing so well it was hard to believe we hadn't gotten dinged before this with items already claimed.
Leslie I did a search of Purity in Death and found this listed on page 312.She spun away from him, kicked the tire of an ambulance parked in the bay.
I love those books, especially on audio. I love the narrator how she does the different voices especially Peabody.
Thanks, Sheila! I did not search for ambulance - silly me. And Lisa Kay likes to listen to these on Audio. And yes, love this series!! I'm in my second year of a buddy read - we read 1 a month. It's awesome. I always have Eve and Roarke to look forward to.And I will try and claim all the items I have left.
Wait, I'm confused. How can we claim all the items we have left? Will we have one misc. item left over since emergency vehicle falls under that category?
that's right Amy. But I personally will claim all the missing items that I am missing except the misc. one. We will all be missing at least one misc. item that hopefully we can grab next week.
Hi ladies! I am almost finished listening to my Shoulder book and I will post it tonight. I will be claiming lightning, shoulder, shelf and sock from it.For Emergency Vehicle, I will be reading
. I will claim moonlight, nose, emergency vehicle and belt from it. That should leave me with sky to claim next week, plus whatever item is called if it is not sky.
I will have sky left as well. And I am changing my book because it didn't have all the items I needed. So I will be reading
And I will be claiming belt, wind and nose and it has the word ambulance in it.

Temptation & Twilight is a satisfying end to the Brethren Guardians trilogy. Elizabeth and Iain had a passionate romance and it was fun to watch them reconnect after their rocky past. I was a little surprised at who the villain Orpheus turned out to be. I really enjoyed this trilogy and the author's writing style. I will pick up more of Charlotte Featherstone's (as well as her alter ego, Sophie Renwick's) books in the future.
Lightning: "with streaks of angry lightning" ~ KL 4499
Shoulder: ""Shoulder wound," the physician announced." ~ KL 933
Shelf: "most firmly on the shelf" ~ KL 299
Sock: "he slipped his dirk into his woollen sock" ~ KL 170
I've read one of her books and really enjoyed it. This sounds like a really interesting series. I love historical romance with a little supernatural thrown in. Sounds wonderful!
Item called Emergency Vehicle
Every Breath You Take by Judith McNaughtFinished 1/20
I thought this was a mystery and it seemed to be more of a predictable romance. I didn't really care for this book as the storyline was very disorganized, and I don't think the author could decide what she wanted the novel to be about. There was a missing person and a murder but it just didn't work for me. I'll be generous and give it 2 ★★'s.
Lightning - Outside lightning streaked across the sky page 453
Belt - trailing the makeshift leash she had created by tying two belts together page 129
Nose - Her nose was straight, her mouth soft page 45
Emergency Vehicle - you want me to send for an ambulance? page 57

Review
#2 in the Donovan Consulting series and I really liked it but there are a couple of things that kept it from being 4 stars. Lianne is the illegitimate daughter of a Chinese/American businessman and has never been acknowledged. She is a jade expert and hopes to win acceptance from his family through assisting them with jade trades with another company. Little does she know that she has been targeted to be the fall guy in an international conspiracy involving China and a centuries old jade death suit. Kyle Donovan is the younger brother in the Donovan family and is asked to get to know Lianne in order to find out where Lianne stands in the jade controversy. This is pretty predictable romantic suspense plot line, but Elizabeth Lowell handles it well. As in the previous story, there is more information on jade than anyone could possible want to know, and this drags the story down somewhat. I appreciate the peek into Chinese culture, the suspense is decent and the romance fun.
thanks, Sheila for your heads up! I think I originally planned on finding wind and then I forgot when I was posting the review and everything today
