The quote was "Maybe Persuasion" It is on the clip for the movie that I googled!!!

Elizabeth, I love that saying! I've never heard it before, but given my unnecessary tendency to get competitive, I should keep it in mind. Also, if you get discouraged, you can always use my trick of switching from a 12" to 20" screen and seeing where you fall there, haha.

I did finish The Host A Novel for 15.8 and read an article in Vogue about Stephenie Meyer. I hadn't read the synopsis of the book, so I didn't know quite what I was in for. Stephenie Meyer definitely has an imagination, but this one was a little slow for me.
I also read The Fifth Floor and The Fourth Queen A Novel for the 3,4,5 challenge, and wasn't all that excited about either one.

Anyone else counting down to the finish?"
Well, I sort of thought to myself "hey, maybe I could finish!" but that's 26 books to read in one month, so I sincerely doubt it :-D

Chalk one more up for me for challenge 15.5--CANNERY ROW by Steinbeck who won the Nobel in 1962.
I didn't think I would like this one, but it surprised me. Steinbeck showed why he won the Nobel in how he made the "worst" of characters sympathetic and even lovable. He proved that even those who are experiencing huge challenges can find happiness in their lives.
This brings my total to 230.

Chalk one more up for me for challenge 1..."
I agree with you. Cannery Row turned out to be a much better read than I expected.

6. In Honor Of Women’s History Month…
- Read an autobiography/biography of a woman you admire OR
- A novel with one of the following in the title (woman, women, lady, ladies, female, feminine, girl, girls, maiden, madame).
Girls in Trucks by Katie Crouch
This book was very different than I expected, but I still enjoyed it. And I know I'm not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but I LOVE the cover of this book, and it's actually very appropriate for the story. The edition I have has an author interview in the back where she tells the story behind the cover, which is interesting.

I have 26 books left for the challenge... I'm a very fast reader, but I'm not sure I'll get done with 26 books! However, we shall see.

I think that's it would be great to finish each task, but I don't think that that is likely to happen for me. Congrats to those of you who can do it! It is mighty impressive.

BTW I love this challenge, love how I feel "forced" to read books I've owned forever but never gotten around to reading. Cynthia, you rock, thanks for creating the challenge!

For 5 points, completed the Planes, Trains... task. I have been reading Under the Duvet by Marian Keyes for the last couple of weeks on the bus to work & back.
I have also completed the 50 point task by reading Second Sight by Amanda Quick and Running Hot by Jayne Ann Krentz.

G&R:
The Red Book
Grave Sight
total 95 points
I loved both books. Gravesight was my first book written by this author but it was great. The red book was very beautiful.

1.Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card (sci-fi)
4. Xenocide by Orson Scott Card (plane from NY, NY - Wichita, KS and back)
7.A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs (e-book, Project G..."
ENDER'S GAME!!!!!!!!! That series has got to be my all time favorite. How did you like it? How many of the Ender/Bean books have you read?

New total: 130 points
I'll remember this for next challenge: reading the 25 point books right away is great to get on the board--having a lot of 5 point books in my pile right now = somewhat discouraging.

This brings my points up to 305!

I had 5 books left at the end of the Winter Challenge (I started late), so was close, but no cigar.
I sincerely doubt I'll be able to get far for the Summer Challenge because it falls smack dab in the middle of us closing on our first home, getting ready, moving in, etc.
So for the Spring Challenge I *will* finish!!! I have 18 left and if I can maintain the pace I've established, I think I can do it!

I copied the list into Excel and deleted a couple of the lines at the top, and looked at the last row number. It look approximately 20 seconds....

Total points: 315

I COULD finish.... but I just don't have the drive I did at the beginning. Plus, I'm running out of tasks I can complete using audiobooks, which cuts down on my more-than-one-book-at-a-time method of finishing challenges...

Bright Lights, Big Ass A Self-Indulgent, Surly, Ex-Sorority Girl's Guide to Why it Often Sucks in the City, or Who are These Idiots and Why Do They All Live Next Door to Me? by Jen Lancaster is hilarious and well worth the read!
