Have you already read both of your YA novels for Task 25.8?

I'm really excited that you liked this book! I've read it before, but I'm going to be reading it again, since it's been so long and the second book is my oldest TBR book.... :)

Cyndee | 13 comments Wow! You are all reading some great books! My TBR list continues to grow out of control. I've done quite a bit of reading and listening this week so here's what I've got to add for my totals:

5 pt. #2 - Other People's Love Letters: 150 Letters You Were Never Meant to See, collected by Bill Shapiro--with a very few exceptions, these weren't all that interesting to me.

5pt. #4 - Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen, listened to in my car going to and from work everyday. Though I love the story, the narrator left quite a bit to be desired.

5pt. #7 - Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (eBook). I could read this over and over again. Who am I kidding? I DO read it over and over again! And I still tear up when I get to the end of Mr. Darcy's letter where he writes "God bless you."

25 pts. #9 - Autism's False Prophets: Bad Science, Risky Medicine, and the Search for a Cure by Paul A. Offit, M.D. -- I hope against hope that parents would pick up this book instead of listening to Jenny McCarthy!!!

So this bring my total so far to 95 points...still so far to go!

message 3460: by Kristina (new)

Kristina Ohhh! I am going to read P.S. I Love You for the Irish task, too. I didn't really want to read Annie Dune.

I wanted to read books off my to be read list and hadn't thought of that one. Woo!

message 3461: by Sara ♥ (new)

Sara ♥ (saranicole) I'm really excited about PS, I Love You. I LOVED the movie! In fact.... maybe I'll read that next instead of I Capture the Castle... I think I'm more in the mood for PS, I Love You.... (Not that I even know what ICtC is about... hahaha...)

4. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles Task – Read or listen to a book while you are on a plane, on a train, or in a car (or other mode of transport like a bus/combinations of transportation)
- For this task you can’t, for example, start a book in the airport and finish it on the plane...the book must be read entirely while inside one of those modes of transportation.
- But the plane/train/car etc. does not have to be moving the entire time for it to count – exe. you can start reading the book once you board the plane before it takes off.
- DOES NOT have to be read in one sitting.

The book of lost books

total 40 points

LOL...2010 sounds like a long way off...until you stop and think that this is 2009.

I still have to read 3 and then 4. But it will still be a long time to wait for 5. I love reading series books, but the waiting is agony.

Dang...! Thanks though! I am going to have to read it now... Hmm... I kind of liked the way the other book ended, I felt everything was resolved nicely, but it doesn't look like this is a contination of that story though. Hmm... I'll have to check it out... Thanks!

Hmm... Do you know what the revision to the book was? It mentions revisions that are relevant to today's reader... Do you know any more about that?

I always feel like such a dunce--I have a hard time figuring out the rhyming words until the person says what they are! :) This might be why I have not completed this task yet. I have probably read several books that would fit and just don't recognize the rhyming words in there! LOL

message 3476: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey Elizabeth, I just took some of the books I wanted to read and looked up words in the title in a rhyming dictionary. I also searched my own goodreads list to see if any matched up. So I found I needed to finally read True Blood and looked up rhyming words to "True" and found another book on my shelf - The New Policeman - "new". It was kind of fun... like an easter egg hunt!

That's exactly what I did with my GR lists. I picked a few I really wanted to read and started searching for words that rhymed in my to-read list and was amazed how what came up. I had such a hard time finding anything before that.

4. Read a novel that takes place in a location you plan to visit during this challenge OR have visited previously during spring break

Amagansett My grandparents had a house in Amagansett when I was young, where we would go for lots of vacations, spring and otherwise. I liked this, good mystery, good story, nice characters... fun too to read about places I haven't thought of in over 30 years

message 3479: by Elizabeth (Alaska) (new)

Elizabeth (Alaska) This has been the sort of thing that makes this Challenge so fun. I don't pay much attention to the authors as people. Who is Irish, Mexican, or Australian? I just have never paid attention to that sort of thing. Obviously that has been a requirement and I think it has been to my benefit. I don't have books planned for the rhyming task, but that is mostly because I have such a stack of books for so many of the other tasks, that I feel I'm not going to get to them all anyway. If that changes, it will be fun to see how I can make something fit.

Avory Faucette (avoryfaucette) Lizzi, I'm going to be reading At Swim, Two Boys A Novel for the Ireland task, which is supposed to be brilliant and romantic to boot (though the book is about a lot more than just the romance.) I also used to love Maeve Binchy books as a teenager, and I'd imagine at least some of them are romantic.

I take it you WON'T be going to see the movie?

I don't know anything about the comic other than my husband just read it.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) Hey, guys--I just noticed the list on the right side of this forum that says, "Books mentioned in this topic." I clicked the "More..." button, and there are SEVENTY PAGES of books listed... :) There are also TEN pages of authors mentioned...

I wonder if this topic has the most books mentioned of any topic on goodreads....

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 1489 comments Oops! I've slipped quite a bit on the leaderboard, but my diarist choice was a bear to get thru. There were 2 or 3 very interesting segments - Thoreau could make the mundane sound beautiful, and I loved the sections on the sounds & sights of nature. Unfortunately, when he was pontificating, he could make the mundane sound very boring and dull. My apologies to those who truly love this book.

Recently completed challenges:

25.2 diarist: Walden and Civil Disobedience by Henry David Thoreau completed 4.2.09

5.8 April Fools book: Good Omens The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Terry Pratchett& Neil Gaiman completed 3.31.09

30 points added to previous 205 points makes new total as of 4.2.09 = 235 points

Just finished The Stand by Stephen King. I loved it even though it was an extremely long book. It definitely held me captivated (and a bit stressed at what the characters were going through). It was my first Stephen King book and I'm looking forward to reading more of his books. (Although maybe I'll try one of his shorter works like Cujo or Salem's Lot next.)

That brings me up to 125 points.

Cait (caitertot) | 604 comments I've just finished reading 101 Best-Loved Poems edited by Philip Smith for the 15.2 poetry task. I'm still not a huge poetry fan, but it was nice reading some of my favorites again. I really liked the mini biographies for each poet as well.

That brings me to 220 points.
