I'm working on a series of 9x12" art quilts I'm hoping to finish this weekend. It probably won't happen, as it always takes longer than I think to actually finish them, and I have that same problem you do with binding and finishing them, Janice, but if I do finish them, I'll post them here.
I'm hoping the fact that they're so small will help! I've never made a quilt that small before.

All these crafty things make me want to go and find more. My mom got me a Candle Maaking kit at xmas, so looking forward to testing that out soon =P Anyone else made candles before?

I never made candles Sarah, but it sounds like a really fun thing to do. Show us the result when you've tried it!

I've done beeswax, super easy and they smell nice. I've done them in a form and they can be fun in different shapes, also pretty easy.
I've never tried dipping them or doing different colours in one candle though. Or adding scent, that would be fun to try.

Ooh okay =] I'm excited to try them out. If I enjoy it, I'll look into get different moulds and using beeswax and even recycle old candle wax =D Would be nice to get scents too.

Are any of you crocheters/knitters over on Ravelry? I am there as mfisher26.
I am ripping out a couple of rows of my blanket tonight. I could fudge it, but I am hoping to train myself to stop dropping stitches.
The only time I've ever made candles was in third grade when we were doing a unit on colonial times and we made dipped candles to see how it was done. I enjoyed it but have never felt a need to make candles since. I do like candles but I am picky about scents like I'm picky about tea flavors so I am careful about them.
Hmm, feeling a sudden need to light a candle, drink a cup of tea, and tackle that yarn. If only I could figure out how to read a book at the same time. (Don't say audiobook - I just can't concentrate on them. I've tried.)

I'm beginning to think the smaller, the better, especially when it comes to putting borders on.

LOL!!! I am sorry, Melissa, but I really think it is a matter of training, just like most things. I had a hard time at the beginning too. I had no problems knitting my daughter's afghan when I first started listening, but she may differ there. It was not exactly a "perfect" rectangle at the end either. I tried to be a little too creative and miscounted on some rows, but hey, I was doing it on a diagonal. Are you dropping stitches at the end of the rows or in the middle?
Peggy - your animals are so cute! I should take a picture of the only knitted animal I have ever managed to complete. It is a bunny. It sits on my dresser. I have a box of yarn for five others that I have never completed.

I might just need to find the right type of audiobook. I manage to watch tv while crocheting but my mind seems to wander so when listening to a book.

Yes, please show us Cherie! I would love to see it :)
@Melissa: no, I'm not on ravelry. Do you have some pictures to show us? Or Dawn, you maybe?
I love crocheted blankets, I just don't have the patience.

I've made candles Sarah, both from rolling sheets of beeswax, and dipping. We used to do that as kids, and colour the wax with crayons we melted in. I used to love dipping, as when it dries enough for your to touch, you can bend and mould into great shapes. Let us know how you go.
Oh and if you scent them, remember a drop of essential oil goes a long, long way. I once put about 10 drops into the wick of one candle and lighting it stunk out the entire house for days.

I brought my knitting to work today because I'm having a hard time reading during lunch due to all the interruptions.
I will try to get pictures of my scarf with matching fingerless cuffs and post them. The scarf and gloves are not necessarily for warmth, but are accessories. I wear mine indoors with a black top.

Sorry, no pictures here. It's been awhile since I made anything new and I give everything away so I can't take any new ones.

Yea Ravelry! I'm Kazen. ^^"
I think I 'friended' you! I don't do much social stuff over there but I do keep up with most of my projects, pics, etc.

Unusual stitch. Great color choices. Beautiful work.

It's a popcorn stitch, I've always liked them. They make the project a little slower but are actually pretty simple and look impressive. :)

And quite the project, so many blankets. How many girl scouts do you have?

I recognize the stitch too. I made squares for a sampler afghan that used it a long time ago. Good thing I only had to make squares. Someone else put them together or they would still be sitting in my closet of unfinished things. It was a gift for my friend's grandma.

There are five girls still in the troop on paper, including my daughter, and one of them doesn't really participate. I'm not sure if I will include the non-participating girl yet, or do something different for her (not to begrudge - after 13 years she is practically family - but just for the sake of time). My daughter's blanket is a little different beast as I started it ages ago as a true scrap blanket and I'd like to keep it that way. And it's huge - these others are more throw-sized blankets. But I wanted to do something special for their graduation.
I do plan to do different blankets - I asked them all to pick a favorite color which I am using as a starting point. This one is blue, obviously. :) The next one I am thinking of trying a stitch I haven't done before. I started on a swatch this morning to see if I thought I could make a go of it, and the jury is still out. The third one I am thinking just a sold color with a more detailed stitch pattern. The time allotted will likely determine my ambition! My daughter knows about it but it's meant to be a surprise for the others. (My daughter is also really put out that I am setting her blanket aside to work on the others... but one can't make a scrap blanket without scraps!)

I friended you back! ^_^

When I make my valentines card I'll upload that one.

Can hardly wait to see it.
