OK, I can't pretend I know what a Loom Band is.

Get your camera out. I'll have to see examples of this as well!☻

Oh really =O have you heard of Scoobies?

I got into scoobies whilst I was at school it was a craze and now these loom bands have come out and it's the new craze. It's quite fun =D I'll get some photos ready then. Can make bracelets and rings, key chains some people have even made a dress and suit out of loom bands =O It's amazing check it out on Google.

Loom bands are just small rubber bands and you loop them together. I'll go convert my pics and place on photobucket and then I'll give you a look =]

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Love yours too Debra!

And thanks Paakhi and Sarah :) I can't really do anything except crochet. I attempted knitting once but gave up, although I'm sure it's also not that hard to learn when you don't give up immediately like I did ;-)

message 206: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Can't edit on my phone, so new message: I think crochet might be easier because you've only got the one needle and accidentally taking the needle out of your stitches doesn't mess up your work as much.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19202 comments Jeez you guys! Both look amazing!

message 208: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I crochet and I do not knit. My mother taught me to knit and grandmother/aunt taught me crochet. As a child I always had trouble with tension and never was serious about either. As an adult I have carpal tunnel syndrome and find that crochet is much easier to manage than knitting. Not sure why, but I can crochet right through the numbness but not knit.

I wish I had more patience for those cute little critters like Peggy has made so beautifully! I've done a few for my daughter, but give me a nice big scrap blanket any day with not so many fiddly bits.

Those glass mosaics are stunning! Wow! so much talent here!

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments The mosaics really are well done and BEAUTIFUL, Almeta and Debra. Yes, I remember the frog picture.

I tried a glass mosaic class, but we did not use grout. It was not cut, like yours, but more small tumbled glass pieces. They were glued onto a clear glass jar. Like most of my projects, I never finished it, but I had a good time. I like to do standard mosaic with stones or tiles. I like to make stepping stones with broken plate pieces. I have stacks and stacks of plates that I have collected over the years. Right now, they are gathering dust in my garage. It is like counted cross stitch - I love to make the picture, but I hate to do the back stitching. I also hate to do the grouting steps.

Be proud ladies, you have finished projects!!!

Thanks Tasha. I use that quilt every day. When I get up in the morning, I throw a hoodie on over my jammies and wrap up in that quilt while catching up on Goodreads.

I'm the same Cherie.

My knitted sweater pieces never got blocked nor attached to one another, my sewing projects never got hemmed nor the facings tacked down, Bargello squares never got backed and stuffed with pillow batting, cross-stitch never got framed, etc.

message 218: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59850 comments And I have a number of quilt tops that are awaiting the quilting process. The making of the tops is the fun part. The quilting & binding; not so much.

lol! I'm pretty sure that's why I never took up quilting. I would just have a basket full of
un-assembled squares.☻

message 220: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Hey, Almeta, how did you know I had that box of quilt pieces that have never been sown together? I won't tell you how many sweaters have never been completed or sewn together. I think I have one in a trunk that I started before my oldest daughter was born (she is 40). I think it is still on the original needles (so small that it took a whole day to do two rows). I have at least three complete sweaters for a four or five year old that only need to be sewn up. Don't get me started on socks that have no brother or are only half done. I am better than I used to be - at least more realistic before starting things, but something always comes along that seems like it would be fun to do. Yarn and material, like books, one can never have enough!

Lol, I did try knitting once, quite some time back and I just couldn't get the hang of it, I kept dropping them off the needles, and it was so annoying. I've done cross stitch when I was younger, but I came away from that. I'll have to take a picture of the latch hook rug I made. At the end of the month when I'm back home I'll upload a picture =]

One of my little ones learned how to undo them and eat the small bands, so we agreed in not having them around the house for a while...

(((Sigh)))...latch hook rugs. Yes, we would love to see your picture, Sarah, but I never finished one of those either. I think I still have two of them out in the garage still in their original boxes. My girls used to love to play with all of those wonderful little bits of cut yarn. I had a 3x5 ft rug kit that was called "fireside" or "fireglow" (I can't remember). I came home from work one day and found that they had opened all of the packages and dumped them all together into the bin that I kept everything in. They were helping me...

message 233: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Ooohhh!! I love latchhook! I did a lot of those growing up! I sometimes, though, would run out of the little yarn by a few! I couldn't have possibly screwed up somewhere ;-)
Do they still make latchhook stuff? I can't remember the last time I saw them.

Lol oh dear. Maybe you could have another go Cherie? I know they do kits on Amazon. I'll defo show you mine soon. I half completed another one (they are both Eeyore) however I was going to make that one into a pillow and for some reason I stopped for a while to gte the stuffing material and never picked it up again. I know they do some here in the big crafting store in the UK; Hobbycraft. But I have seen some on Amazon too. Yes I used to run out of the yarn as well, never enough in those things. When I used to do cross stitch I always ran out of black =/

Has anyone heard of rag-rugging? I saw this and it looks adorable. But I've never heard of that technique before.

message 235: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie That is adorable, Sarah! I bet if I made one someday, I could put a squeaker in it and make a toy for Blake :) I would, of course, have to make it large enough for him not to be able to swallow whole :-)

message 240: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18549 comments I made a rag rug at school in arts and crafts. I loved doing it and I thought it was pretty easy and a great way to use up odd scraps of fabric. my nan still has it in front of her tv.

message 241: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I'm so glad to know I'm not alone with my abandoned crafts! I used to do latch-hook kits as a kid and never did a thing with any of them. Not sure that I ever actually finished any, for that matter.

I have a quilt that one of my roommates and I started for a third roommate when she was pregnant with her first child. That baby is now a 20-year old college student and that quilt has been sitting in a tub awaiting nothing more than binding for nearly a decade now.

I will say, cross-stitching is one thing I have a somewhat better track record for. I actually have finished, framed pieces in my house and in others. I probably have an equal number of unframed, unfinished pieces up in my craft space.

This is why I think I prefer crocheting afghans. Very little finishing required, compared to all the little critters (adorable though they may be).

Thanks, Cherie! I'm notorious for starting projects and not finishing. Since, Almeta and I had the benefit of a structured class environment and a teacher urging us on, we were able to complete our mosaics in the allotted 20 hours. It was a photo finish, but we did it.

Everyone's projects here are so nice. Now, I HAVE to finish my hat with attached scarf I'm knitting. Maybe it will be ready for NEXT winter! haha Oh... and there are those fingerless gloves I'm supposed to be knitting for Almeta. Seems reading takes precedence over most everything!

message 244: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 1254 comments I've enjoyed reading the thread about all the unfinished crafts. I'm not the only one! I have a closet full of yarn, cross-stitch and quilting pieces that I refuse to get rid of because I still want to find time to work on them. A week ago, I decided to carve out an hour or two each evening to pick up a project in progress. I chose an afghan I had started crocheting a year ago. Happily, I finished it last night. Maybe this will be the year I complete all those "in-progress" craft projects!
