Kathryn, I was glad to hear your news. Your happiness and lower stress level are more important than a job that's tearing you up. Mark seems like an amazing support for you! Looking forward to seeing you more on GR!

message 3053: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Kathryn- very happy for you that you are free of that stressful situation- good to see you posting!

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments Terri, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I called my dad on my way home, and he actually told me he was proud of me. I was a little shocked. I never thought I could dislike a job more, and I think I denied it to myself for a few weeks how unhappy I was. I'm still trying to process everything because I have NEVER EVER quit a job like this. But, on my drive home, I felt a tremendous weight lifted off of my shoulders. I have missed you, my wonderful GR friends, and GR itself. Can't wait to get back to posting. :)

Rachel, thank you to you, too. I haven't had stress like this ever in my life, not even when I was writing my graduate thesis, and honestly, it's not healthy. I'm glad to be back so I can catch up with you! :)

My GR friends-I have missed you guys so very much. Thank you all for your support, kind words, and friendship. You all are making this much easier to deal with. THANK YOU so much. :)

7:18PM We just took Aeverie home. And now I am back, but ready for my work out in about 15 min. Then I will be back to GR again. Gonna start my next book in the Heartsick series, The Night Season.

Glad to have you back with us Kathryn! You are a vital part of this group and I am sure I can speak for everyone when I say you were missed!

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments 8:19 p.m. EST Okay, 2 and a quarter hours and it's still updating... This is insane! LOL Still, I did copy over a LOT of stuff, over 100 GB of music, so I suppose it would take awhile to organize everything, but geez...

Anyway, realized I needed to send a text to my husband 'cause I need more Coke and drinking water... so hopped back on-line to do that and have been messing around with e-mail and blog posts for 45 minutes... O.O

message 3057: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Oh, Janie, I really enjoyed the Heartsick series; I think I've read the first three or 4, and have the latest here waiting for me to review it, but I missed one in the middle I need to find first... Are you enjoying them?

message 3058: by GeneralTHC (new)

GeneralTHC 7:55 PM CST Just finished Ordinary Grace. It was bit predictable, I thought. I think I'm about to read The Demonologist and make it another two novel day, lol.

message 3059: by Chris (new)

Chris (cbrunner11) | 674 comments I have read the first in the Heartsick series, I have enjoyed them but not as much as the first book. I am not sure how much longer I can take the same hero/villain being in every story. The third I liked better than the second, but you are right Janie, it took awhile to get going.

8:07PM and just under an hour till I can go home from work. I am so hungry and looking forward to eating a late dinner while catching up on recorded TV with my wonderful wife.

message 3064: by GeneralTHC (last edited Apr 02, 2013 06:39PM) (new)

GeneralTHC I read the first three of the Heartisick series but it just developed too much of a TV type feel for me. I thought it was a great premise though.

message 3065: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments I was going to read The Demonologist last week, but thought that I should probably read, ummm ... well it was based on something classic (I can't remember now) and thought I should read that first.

10:04 p.m. EST Okay, this is officially a ridiculous amount of time for the database to be updating... nothing in the manual, nothing on the FAQ... I put in a question on their feedback forum, let's see if I receive a response... Otherwise, still reading, but now I'm starting to droop. Very little sleep for 3 days = tired Katy... LOL

Paradise Lost. Yeah, me too.

It is 12:15 a.m. and I'm gonna make an attempt to read for maybe an hour or so. Making a promise to myself that 2:00 a.m. is cutoff time regardless. I need to get up by 8:30 a.m. at the latest. Want to finish current chapter in 11/22/63 and then see if I can get in the next chapter of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix before my time runs out. Hope everyone had a great day. Will try to catch up on all your posts tomorrow time permitting.

11:32PM Had a great, but insane workout! Sitting her worn out going through GR read a couple of pages but it makes me so sleepy, so I am thinking I will be calling it a night.

Katy yes I am enjoying the Heartsick series very much! Book 4 is the last one I have so I will have to be looking for #5

message 3069: by Shell (new)

Shell (shellcampbell) | 757 comments Kathryn, it's so good to hear that you've taken yourself out of that stressful work environment. Good on you for looking after yourself, I hope that you will be much happier and healthier now - stress is so bad for you! Enjoy getting back into your reading and GR - it will be great to have you here more often :D

Dan - great to hear that your shoulder is starting to feel better - you'll be martial artsing again in no time lol.

3.55pm - at work and pleased that it's only an hour until I get to go home. I was meant to go to the hairdresser after work, but I'm feeling a bit under the weather so have re-scheduled for Saturday. I'm looking forward to hopefully finishing off my book tonight (The Running Man).

message 3072: by [deleted user] (new)

Hope you feel better, Michelle. I had to cancel a hair appointment Saturday cause I felt bad--it's hard to miss what can be a nice positive experience. (I like to just relax into someone else washing and doing my hair. A vicarious pain reliever.)

Glad your shoulder is better, Dan!

Chuck, I'm with you. I left the Heartsick series after #3, though I did like the 3 I read.

Hope you got some sleep, Katy.

3:13am. Checking out GR and then I'll read till hub gets up. Puppy has climbed into my warm bed and is fast asleep on my pillow. I wish he would cuddle up to me--I'm cold despite being under my great-grandmother's quilt. It might be time to put the coffee on. Leg/hip really acting up despite 3 pain pills. MD appointment in 2 weeks so will go through again all my chronic symptoms and need for ongoing medication. Well, time to start reading. Have a great day everyone!

I'm doing okay I guess. My reading has really evolved lately. I've been getting into the literary type stuff and I can read really fast now, or fast for me anyway, about 400 word per minute. Glad you're back! :)

message 3079: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments 1:49 p.m. EST Finally took a melatonin and crashed. Glorious! Found out that there was some sort of problem and that was why the Cowon froze. Very few of the songs actually transferred, so I'm going to transfer them in groups rather than all at once, and then wait for that group to finish before moving on. Maybe this time it'll work.

message 3081: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Ooh, vampire book, must go check it out!

9:42 p.m. EST Wow, what a day. Finished Seduction and then read the two prequel shorts to the Bel Dame Apocrypha by Kameron Hurley, and now I'm starting the first book in the series. Also finally managed to upload all my music to this Cowon and trying to figure out how it works. The battery drains way faster than they claimed it out, which is annoying, but we'll see what happens. I'm making certain it is fully charged, then I'll let it sit, and tomorrow I'll settle in to really figure it out. It is raining again, and is forecast to rain tomorrow, too, with a high of only 54! I do wish the weather would stop flipflopping like this!

Hey Kathryn...good to see you back..

Saw Evan Gattis, rookie catcher for the Braves, hit a home run in his first career at bat.....Saw it on TV, but still cool.

It is 12:24 a.m. and I was a little late getting home from work today. Gonna read for a bit if I can stay awake. I will sleep till I wake up in the morning so long as I don't miss work in the afternoon. NEVER will I start reading two books at the same time that are this long! I am not a fast reader and always get interrupted while reading. At my rate of only 100 or so pages a day, it might take me a month to finish these two. BUT they are both excellent. Reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and 11/22/63.

message 3085: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments 12:31 a.m. EST Just taking a quick break to try to figure out what the heck this author means by a "bicornuate womb". Anyone? I cannot find a definition, other than for a bicorne hat, which means tipped. Is this a fancy term for a tipped womb? Anyway, this series is just fascinating so far; I read the two free stories that I found on-line, and then started this book, and in this world... it's ... well, you'd really have to read them yourselves, but I'm really enjoying them so far!

message 3086: by [deleted user] (new)

Katy, don't know if this is helpful or not but a "bicornuate uterus" is heart shaped. Would this make any sense in the context of your read?

message 3087: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Cindy wrote: "Katy, don't know if this is helpful or not but a "bicornuate uterus" is heart shaped. Would this make any sense in the context of your read?"

Not sure. The first mention was in one of the short stories, where the woman said her womb was bicornuate and therefore she had difficulty carrying babies, and the 2nd mention was a couple chapters ago in this book where one of the characters remarked it was unfortunate the other had sold her uterus, as it was unusual since it was bicornuate and he'd have purchased it himself if he'd known... *shrug* Since uterus and womb are essentially the same thing, I guess that's probably what it means. Where did you find that? It wasn't in the Merriam-Webster medical dictionary. I probably should have done a Google search... LOL I'm a bit out of it... not enough caffeine today!

message 3088: by [deleted user] (new)

I did a Google search.

message 3089: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Cindy wrote: "I did a Google search."

LOL Yeah, okay, I see now. Apparently the description is due to two "horns" forming in the upper part of the uterus. Interesting!

1:03AM Wow I need to get this behind to bed! I had a great evening with Rachel, Tee, and Cindy! Thanks guys I loved our little chats in the blog rooms! So I did not read at all tonight! Go figure when I had the chance for it! Huggers to all and have a great night everyone.

message 3091: by [deleted user] (new)

I haven't been reading either but I have enjoyed our time in the blogging area a great deal. Thanks!

message 3092: by [deleted user] (new)

2:19am. Spending time on GR finding friendship and support. Nice to have this in the middle of the night. Watching some cable news and getting ready to go back to reading. Feeling peaceful tonight.

message 3093: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm taking a break to watch a tv show and eat. Should be back in a little bit but will stay logged in. So nice to talk with you Terri. I sometimes have trouble finding many people online in the middle of the night.

message 3094: by [deleted user] (last edited Apr 03, 2013 11:42PM) (new)

Hey, Cindy. I'm often online this time of night. I go to bed and sleep for 3 or 4 hours and then I'm so awake I just get up. Why are you up at this hour?

message 3095: by [deleted user] (new)

I work second shift and do most of my reading after I get home from work. This is my time to get on GR's and just chill. I am often online until 3 or 4.

message 3096: by [deleted user] (new)

Gotcha. I used to be an RN and worked all shifts at various times in my life, but my biologic clock is most suited to 2nd shift. It always gave me a good feeling to tuck the patients in for the night. I'd also need time to wind down before sleep. (This was WAY before GR, and some of it even before cable TV! Books were always a need and a priority.)

message 3097: by Katy (new)

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Hey, Cindy and Terri; I'm usually up this time of night, too - either editing or reading, so not usually on-line to chat, but ... I'm usually at least up. Speaking of...

3:15 a.m. I'm sleepy, so I think I'm going to take a nap. This book is a great idea, but I'm losing my focus and need to sleeeeeep... I Think it's the rain, it's so soothing...

message 3098: by [deleted user] (new)

Sweet dreams, Katy...

message 3099: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm struggling a bit myself tonight. Gonna drink some coffee and see if it helps. I really need to get a bit further in this book. Cannot be renewed at the library and I would hate to turn in back in unfinished. Especially if I'm almost to the end. Goodnight Katy.

message 3100: by [deleted user] (new)

Cindy, I get my books from the library almost exclusively. (Though I do collect cookbooks.) My library is terrific. I'm disabled and seldom leave the house, but I can request everything I want online and my hub picks them up once or twice a week. There's no limit on the number I can reserve or the number I can check out. I think I have 23 reserved now, and it tells me where exactly in the list I fall if there are multiple reserves. I check them out for 21 days with 2 renewals possible only if no one else has requested the book. YAY for libraries! I always hate to have to turn one in when I haven't finished.
