Corey | 1411 comments 6:15 p.m. Just got back from my grandmother's house, we went over for a barbecue to celebrate my mom's birthday, we barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs and we had a great time, and my Grandmother really seems to be settling into her new home, it's so great to have her close by, now I'm just relaxing and watching tv, and later on I'll probably go up and crawl into bed and do some more reading.

Good night everybody!

I had forgotten how busy my life gets in Illinois. I kind of miss the slow lifestyle of Alaska. I just got back from visiting my cousin and my Aunt. She was having a good day and remembered me. I haven't seen her in over 10 years. My mom and her sister had a really good time talking of old days. It was good to see them together. I'm tired now so I'll read until my eyes close. :-D Hope everyone had a good day!

7:24AM Again another busy day for us today as well. I just feel like all I have done this month is run run run! I am hoping that June will be a little slower for us!

Cindy so sorry to hear about your grandson, but you did the right thing even if it is hard to so. Sometimes we have to do those things that hurt us. Keeping you and the grandson in my prayers.

message 11564: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 10:00 AM. GOOD MORNING, GR!!!! Whew!! What a busy weekend!!! Sunday night my dad got here, and we grilled steaks, finished up the shopping for Monday's barbecue, and sat outside on the back deck because it was nice outside. Oh, he also bought me another hydrangea, which is purple, a gardenia, and another jasmine. Yesterday, my grandpa came over early, which I was hoping he would do, and then a while later, the rest of the family showed up to eat. We had ribs, sausage, chicken, baked beans, homemade potato salad (Dad's famous for it and I LOVE IT!), coleslaw, and banana pudding. It was all very yummy. I sent home three meals for Grandpa. He told me not to do that, but I had already fixed up everything for him. After everyone left, Mark was in a bit of a food coma, but Dad and I installed a cold air intake on his truck. Okay, well, he told me the directions as I went, and I installed it for him. It was fun. He even took some pictures of me for proof. HAHA! I did a little work on the backyard, and by the time it got dark, we were all tired. Dad left not too long ago to get back to work. I am about to get ready and take my car in for oil change, tire rotation and balance, and my inspection. I should be there at the dealership for a few hours, I suppose. It almost sounds funny, but thank goodness I didn't get much reading done this weekend because I am so eager to get back into My Sister's Keeper and I can sit at the dealership and read until they tell me my car is ready. I have a feeling I will be there at least two, maybe three hours. After I get home, I plan to clean up the kitchen. There are lots of dishes from yesterday. haha! It was worth it, though! Anyways, I hope you all have a great Tuesday!

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments *hugs* Cindy. You did the right thing and I hope your grandson will receive the help he needs. I'm here if you need someone to talk to.

Jordan, sounds like you feel better, that's awesome!

6:06 p.m. EDT Today was chemo treatment #6. The original treatment order was for 12 sessions, so I'm halfway there. However, there is (of course) always a chance I'll need more. It's about time for another set of scans, so I guess it will depend upon what we see there. I asked the doctor today about the tumors in my pelvis and what to think about the three 7 cm "cyst-like formations" that are there now; she says they probably are the tumors. No way to tell if they had grown or shrunk since they aren't mentioned in any other scans and the surgeon didn't note their size, just that they were there. I am off the Lovenox, thank goodness (those stomach shots hurt), but it sounds like I'll have to be on Coumadin indefinitely. *sigh* Anyway... After I was hooked up to the home infusion unit, we went to Outback for a late lunch. I had a ribeye, yummy! However my mouth is SO sensitive, I couldn't even use horseradish on it like I like to do, and even the pepper on the steak was uncomfortable for me. Still, I finished the whole thing, much to the mutual surprise of me and my husband (that happens about one time out of 10; the rest of the time I have to bring home leftovers to eat later). I was really sleepy on the way home, but once I was here I was awake again, so I guess I'll read once I'm through e-mail. Hubby is sleeping. How is it men can sleep so easily?? I have two new Amazon Vine books to read and review this month, and a friend gifted me a few books and some Magnesium, which arrived today, so lots of books in the mail today! wOOt! Hope everyone is doing well and will have a wonderful week!

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 9:58 PM. Good evening, GR! Today was kind of long and tiring. I got ready and took my car in and got what needed done. I was there about two and a half hours. Afterwards, I stopped by Autozone and got my two air filters, and installed them when I got home. I read a little after I got home and did a few things to my plants. I sat down to read again and fell asleep for about thirty minutes, when Mark got home. We did a few easy things outside, then went to rent a movie. We had leftovers for dinner, and now we are in bed. He is watching the movie we rented, and I am going to try to read a little. For some reason I am really tired today, so I may just go to sleep and be better rested to read tomorrow. Goodnight, GR.

Not good. Did the laundromat thing this morning, got some reading done, finished Hunger Games and really liked it very much, so I will be starting Catching Fire right away! Can't wait. Yesterday was babe's other son's birthday, so we took him out to dinner at Applebee's, it was good, but I'm wanting my leftovers now! Saving them for dinner though. We were supposed to get some topsoil and garden plants today, but all the rain messed up that plan, so guess we are waiting for next week. I'm ready! :)

2:20 a.m. EDT Didn't log in at all yesterday; spent most of the day sleeping, actually. I'm a bit dehydrated now, so slamming Gatorade. Supposed to have a telephone interview today re: my SSI; actually, I was supposed to go in, but I called a few weeks back and asked if they'd change it to a phone interview. I hope no one screwed up; I'd hate to lose my SSI and Medicaid because someone over there screwed up! Anyway, then I have to go to the hospital to have my infusion pump removed and am done with chemo for this week. My mouth and tongue are already sore from the CPT-11.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 8:00 AM. Good morning, GR! Well, I didn't realize until now I didn't check into this thread yesterday. I, for the first time in a while, spent pretty much the entire day reading. I read about 150 pages of My Sister's Keeper, and I will finish it here in a bit. I was going to finish it last night, but we rented a movie from Redbox, so it has to be returned today. Today I should hopefully get my Amazon order. I ordered two books: The One and Only by Emily Giffin and Attachments by Rainbow Rowell. Its kind of perfect timing to finish My Sister's Keeper because I was planning on waiting to start another book until The One and Only got here. I'm super excited to read it. I'm already drinking coffee to wake me up a bit, then I will finish My Sister's Keeper, write my review, and try to wait patiently for the mail to arrive today. :)

I can't tolerate the mint, it burns my mouth, so I was very happy to find this. It's actually with calendula, so it will help my mouth. And it tastes a bit like licorice, strangely enough. I need to do the dishes, but I think I will start my new book first. I was going to start it last night, but then I remembered I wanted to watch Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, so I watched about half of it before I got sleepy. I love and own the first one, and I didn't know the second one was on Netflix already. I'm a little concerned about reading the new book by Emily Giffin, who I usually love. It's gotten a lot of really mixed reviews. I always love her books because they are realistic but also give me something to think about. But, I have to admit...the reviews have me concerned. Oh well, I will see for myself. I usually tear through her books very quickly. :) Have a great Friday, my GR friends!

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Dan, sorry to hear about the arthritis. I have arthritis all over the place - knees, hips, lower back, neck, hands, shoulders - and it is not fun. There is stuff called Sore No More that is really good for arthritis and joint pain, as well as muscle spasms. Problem is there are three companies using that name for their product; one is for horses, one is advertised as "citrus" scent. You want to go to the one that has aloe vera showing on the front page; I've linked it up above there. I recommend this for anyone who has ouchies and soreness.

Terri, that smoothie sounds really tasty! I love smoothies, but I have to leave out the banana 'cause it's a migraine trigger for me. Weird.

5:36 p.m. EDT Hearing some ominous thunder right now. Might have a thunderstorm tonight! This morning I went in to see my palliative care nurse and pick up prescription refills. Fortunately I checked before we left the parking lot; she had messed up my meds, given me the wrong stuff. So had to wait almost another hour to fix all that. Then we went to IHOP for a late breakfast. Hubby had to go to work this evening. Yesterday I picked up some really interesting "enhanced" water from Earthfare. I drink one last night that had elderflower, and one today that had hibiscus and honeydew. I have a lavender/mint left, and a few energy drinks. I also found a toothpaste with no mint! The mint in toothpaste was causing me a lot of pain, so I'd been looking for a toothpaste without, and not only did I find one, but it has calendula in it, so it soothes things as well. I'll be reading this evening; I do need to watch the final episode of Agents of SHIELD Season one soon... But first I have lots of books I want to read...

Just finished another book :) My 31st this year. It was the second in the Myron Bolitar set by Harlan Coben, called Seconds Away. I just popped on to update all my challenges etc, and then heading to bed.

Tomorrow is a sad day for me and many of my friends, as it marks the 1year anniversary of the death of one of our friends. He was only just 18, and was one of the zaniest people I knew. His nickname was Garfield, cuz he'd live of lasagne if his parents would have let him, and not a day goes by when I don't think of him. He used to go through town in rollerblades and a dinosaur onesie, so naturally, I've bought my almost 2 year old a dinosaur onesie in memory of him, which he shall wear tomorrow for his service. Books will be my saviour after that service, I'll be starting Eldest
