Tim Arnot - Flick Carter #1: FREED!

BTW, if Flick did got wed, Kath would have to do the arch ;)
And yes there will still be a book 3 :D

I ordered 5 as the first batch, since technically they were proofs, and there was the chance I wouldn't approve them (a small chance, but a chance nevertheless)
This time, I ordered 20. On crunching the numbers, 20 seems to be the optimum quantity, between cost per unit and overall cost. Any more than that and the cost per unit actually starts to rise again! Even buying 50 only works out 2p per book cheaper than 20! Even so, it's still a big chunk of change (ouch!)

There's 0 savings on the printing cost for 50 compared to 1 -- I'd have expected at least *something* :( so the only saving is in terms of shipping. And there really is no advantage to buying more than 20. Not that I imagine I'll need to do even that very often.

So, order in batches of 20 then eh ;)

Flick: Saoirse Ronan or Sophie Turner
Shea: Kit Harington
Adam: Asa Butterfield (the kid from Hugo)
Rosie: Tough this one. I originally thought Chloë Moretz, but she might be too old by the time the film gets made...
Jessica: Karen Gillan
Hannah: Dakota Blue Richards
Be curious how other readers see the cast...

Saoirse Ronan was Hanna in the film of the same name. She also starred in The Host and appeared in a bunch of other films.
Sophie Turner was Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones
Kit Harrington was Jon Snow in GoT
Chloë Moretz was Hit Girl in Kick Ass, starred in Hick (talked about today in Just Watched), Hugo and others. She'd be really good as (view spoiler) if it was made 'right now'
Karen Gillan was Amy Pond in Dr Who
Dakota Blue Richards was Lyra in The Amber Spyglass, and appeared in later seasons of Skins

Got to get book 2 finished first though... (you'll notice somewhere down the road, I stopped referring to titles!)
Now back to work damn you! (at least I'm not trying to clean soup out of my iPad today...)

Also, Flick's blog is back up and running after a minor accident in cPanel (who knew that little red X meant "uninstall wordpress, delete everything you ever wrote, destroy the world then turn off the lights" rather than "reinstall"?)

New posts there too :)

As WW2 nears its conclusion, James Lees-Milne is sent to assess Faringdon House in Berkshire for the National Trust. Faringdon is home to the composer, artist and poet Gerald, Lord Berners, who has returned to England under a cloud, having spent most of the war in Rome. Lord Berners is an eccentric through-and-through - a man given to dying his doves to co-ordinate with the food he's serving and the once proud owner of a pet giraffe...

It may only be there for a week, so get in quick!

(There's no way to win on that one, cos either I haven't sold many at all, or I'm about to thump you!)

Lol so half brother & sister would get smoochy then ;)

If I had the money, I'd buy your book, but I'm afraid I'm skint. Could you lend me the money? :)
Well done on getting the book out.

This means no writing again today (yesterday we built what is probably the biggest and most complex set we've had for many years! & no doubt there will be snags to attend to between rehearsals...)
Weather forecast is for 38 degrees later this week, oh joy!
Lots of fluids!

I'm still left wondering if I got the pricing right on the paperback. Bearing in mind that postage from Amazon is free for Supersaver delivery, it's actually 61p cheaper to buy from Amazon than to buy direct from Feed-a-read, even at the "author discount" price! And I get royalties on top of that!

"Set in a future where technology, and even electricity, are forgotten luxuries of an old past, where people are surrounded by skeletons of the long-dead Information Age, Wanted is set in what might be described as a reborn civilisation where skill and ingenuity are needed to thrive.
"What's not new in this future, are politics and corruption. Tim has drawn them superbly; and to counter the bad is an expertly created good. The people of Faringdon get by well enough, they have their Watch to protect them at the city gates, but not all evil exists outside them.
"This is a wonderfully written story featuring characters like Flick who you take to immediately, and others like Dixon who you might approach with some caution. And then there's the Mayor - a man you wouldn't approach at all!
"I loved this world, and I wouldn't mind living in it. With that in mind, I wait eagerly for the second of Tim's books."
:-D

Woo hoo! :)
And even better, from now till the end of August, the price is down to £1.99 / $2.99
Let the good times roll, baby! :D

Cannes... jewel heist... Shea... coincidence?

There'll be a cold snap now, cos me ears are showing...

In the last couple of days I've written some quite major scenes that featured a certain corporal in what could be regarded as a pivotal role... ;)
