Tim | 8539 comments Still can't get a Bookbub. Sigh. Ah well, try again next month. Ho hum and all that.

Tim | 8539 comments There's a very small part of me that wants to "stick it to the man", especially after what that idiot Junker said, but the financially skint part of my brain (i.e. most of it) keeps muttering, "don't make things worse"...

No doubt tomorrow, things will be worse. Ho hum.

Tim | 8539 comments Hurrah! ENT came through, and they're featuring Wanted on the 23rd. :D That means I should get my act together (stop laughing at the back) and sort out some complementary advertising...

The freebie is still getting spontaneous downloads across Amazon, iBooks and Nook (although nothing on Kobo, strangely), but still no follow on sales yet.

Oh, and MTM, if you're reading: cheers for the review, just spotted it. :)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments It's a pleasure, I loved the books. Good luck with the promo and keep the mailing list going. It's the only sure(ish) marketing thing in a world of uncertainty! ;-)

Cheers

MTM

As a Nurse - ENT to me, means Ear Nose & Throat. lol

Graeme Rodaughan Now don't be hasty.

That was exactly what I thought initially!

Tim | 8539 comments Given the state of my throat at the moment, that may actually be more appropriate!

message 1610: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Good news - I'm starting to see an upswing in follow on sales. And it's not just book 2, it's the whole set. :D And that bodes well for book 4 in the trilogy (just got to write it . . .)

Got the ENT promotion coming up this weekend, which should be fun. (although, given my throat infection is back, perhaps it should be Ear, Nose & Throat!)

message 1611: by Graeme (new) - added it

Graeme Rodaughan Good work Tim. Encouraging results.

message 1612: by M.T. (new) - added it

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Nice work on the ENT. I'm promoting your books to my mailing list on 4th August. Hopefully someone'll download Wanted. Let me know if you get a sales spike ... it may be more of a sales pimple.

message 1613: by M.T. (new) - added it

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments PS, I've carefully not called it a 'trilogy' because I thought there'd be more books and you don't want some dunderhead whining that there are more than three books. I got that all the time before I changed the series title.

message 1614: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Thanks Mary, I'll keep an eye out for it.

The first three will always be a trilogy in the sense that each book leads directly into the next. Book 4 is still a continuation, but it's set a few years later. Rosie is now 15, and it's time for her Choosing. What could possibly go wrong . . . ?

Tim | 8539 comments Bwahahahaha! as someone might say!

Oh, and there's a Socko novella in the works too. A high profile murder . . . a ticking clock bomb clock . . . a circus . . . :)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Cool, glad things are still moving. It's really hard to write and conduct any kind of real life at the same time.

Tim | 8539 comments Yeah, the writing's glacially slow at the mo, but I'm fitting in bits here and there.

Tim | 8539 comments Well, the ENT kicked off on Saturday evening (unfortunately I was at a barbie on a remote airfield with iffy wiffi so I only caught snatches of it).

Anyhow, Wanted has had over 1200 downloads (only about 20 on iBooks, and 48 on B&N. For some reason, apparently Kobo doesn't report free downloads, so I have no clue how that did.) Just 2 follow on sales so far, but we live in hope . . .

Completely forgot to check the rankings. Pillock. (although it was still in the top 250 overall free and top 9 Post Apoc in .com earlier today.)

All downloads were from .com. There wasn't even a blip in the UK or Canada levels.

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Well done. :-)

message 1622: by Graeme (new) - added it

Graeme Rodaughan Hi Tim, well done.

message 1623: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Now here's interesting: Friday night/Saturday morning I have a big spike of over 1000 downloads on .com (and about 50 on .uk). I guess Wanted must have been mentioned somewhere, although I don't know where. and it's a way bigger spike than I got from the ENT promo which I paid for (not that I'm complaining of course!)

If I'd seen it earlier I'd have checked the rankings. I'm still at #5 in Post Apocalyptic, so it must have got pretty high!

message 1624: by Graeme (new) - added it

Graeme Rodaughan Hi Tim,

I think that I will get to your book next after I finish reading Rise of the Trekken

Those are fantastic results.

message 1625: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Good chance that it was an Amazon email, Tim.

message 1626: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Interesting. It was almost entirely confined to .com, with just a ripple on .co.uk and nothing at all on the other sites. So I guess either a ZonMail or some Amazon exclusive blog. Didn't happen until late in the day either. Not going to knock it though :)

message 1627: by M.T. (new) - added it

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments If it happened late in the day I'd guess that it was someone on the Pacific coast posting first thing! I'm hoping you'll get about 40 downloads from my lot over the next few days. Mailing goes out tomorrow. Although, in the end, I linked to your author page so they could see all your books and posted a picture of the cover of Wanted.

Cheers

MTM

message 1629: by Tim (last edited Aug 05, 2016 01:17AM) (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Thanks Mary - greatly appreciated. :D I've just been looking at the charts and it's generated a pretty good blip in US, UK and even Australia (actually, Australia is a massive spike in a sea of nuttin...!)

Here's the UK graph, where it out blipped both (admittedly "US only") recent promos :D

That's just the UK. I think it worked out to 40 across all territories (including 6 in Oz), over and above the average of the previous 3 days. Which is exactly what you predicted. :D

message 1633: by M.T. (new) - added it

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Cool, that's good to know. ;-) There may be a few stragglers over the week end if you're lucky. Here's hoping.

message 1634: by M.T. (new) - added it

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Tim, this seems mad but there's a fantastic promo I do which nets you loads of downloads - and an nice uplift in onward sales - and they are looking for new authors to submit. If you want to stick Wanted in, it goes out on 1 and 2 October and the link to sign up is here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1zRti...

She likes authors who are on other sites as well as Amazon and it doesn't matter if your mailing list is small, she just wants you to use it. ;-)

I would message you but bloody goodreads thinks you're an 'author' so it won't let me contact you.

Cheers

MTM

Tim | 8539 comments Got a nice spike last weekend from a mention in Rosen's newsletter, and follow-on sales of the other books are still coming through. Got a couple of sales through Kobo too, which was nice considering they don't report free downloads, so I have no idea how book 1 is doing there.

Pleasure. I've found that my books do best in the UK, Australia and NZ, South Africa and then US last. This is a really good list for getting UK and Australian readers and it's worth it for that alone. I get a miles higher take up rate.

The same group also tried an instrafreebie giveaway and that has been amazing, I made it so folks had to sign up to my mailing list and gave away a very short story. Got 400 folks signing up. And I put in a very poor performance compared to everyone else.

Cheers

Tim | 8539 comments There's over 100 science fiction and fantasy books free this weekend, and thanks to Mary, one of then's mine! Yay! :D So in the spirit of "Let's do marketing" I'd like for you all to click the link and download stacks of exciting, fun, awesome books for nowt but the leccy.

Gratuitous picture that's also (hopefully) a link:

http://pattyjansen.com/promo/

Actually what we all really want you to do is download the free book, read it and then buy the next book and the one after, cos you know, TANSTAAFL* Actually, buy the next book right now, cos nothing makes an author happier than seeing the red line of sales lift off and soar majestically into the great upwardness... ;-)

* There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch (Robert Heinlein, 1966 The Moon is a Harsh Mistress)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I love that book - The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. Its my favourite Heinlein.

message 1646: by Graeme (new) - added it

Graeme Rodaughan Same for me as well.

The Moon is a Harsh Mistress was his best work.

message 1647: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments I quite liked Starship Troopers, although more for the power armour than the politics.

message 1648: by Graeme (new) - added it

Graeme Rodaughan It begs the question as to what would happen politically if humanity was faced with a genuine alien threat.

message 1649: by Graeme (new) - added it

Graeme Rodaughan I've loved pretty much all of Robert Heinlein's work, but I think there was a real transition throughout his career on multiple levels and I suspect whatever his politics was - it was nuanced, and not blunt.

message 1650: by Joo (new) - rated it 4 stars

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments I got you a download by posting on the amazon forum :)

"Thanks for this one 'Survivors meets Robin Hood in a dystopian future Britain'
Just been reading the start & think I'll enjoy it."

And someone I'd ignored said they was attracted to it.

You know where to send my share of the profits from it to :) :)
