M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Excellent news. :-) btw, is your first book perma free?

message 1555: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments No. I've pulled everything from select with the intention of going wide and possibly doing the permafree thing (although I think I want to have more book out first?) It'll take about 6 weeks for everything to clear Select...

Maybe, although PJ and Socko are among my top ones (along with Verity Long, Hellequin and the girl from The Night Circus whose name escapes me at the moment!)

G J (Gaff to my friends) Reilly | 1836 comments Yay from Mrs Gaff and me. Keep 'em coming!

Brilliant, if you do the perma free thing let me know as I am always looking for good stuff to put in my monthly mailing. You'd get a few downloads. ;-)

Cheers

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hey Tim, Dave has just started a new book I think you'd be interested in. It's called Skunk Works: A Personal Memoir of My Years at Lockheed

He's finding it very interesting.

Tim | 8539 comments Cheers Patti, looks really interesting :)

Tim | 8539 comments Just blowing the dust off to announce that the whole Flick Carter trilogy is now available on iBooks, for the very first time. Woohoo! :D

Load up iBooks on your Apple device and do the search thing or follow the links:

Wanted: https://geo.itunes.apple.com/gb/book/...
Hunted: https://geo.itunes.apple.com/gb/book/...
Stranded: https://geo.itunes.apple.com/gb/book/...

Remember, you can gift books on iTunes . . . :)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Be interested to know if spreading the net works out for you, Tim. Good luck.

message 1564: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Thanks David. it opens up more scope for things like permafree (didn't make a lot of sense before the trilogy was finished), and might help with Bookbub too (when I'm rich...)

The books are now up on D2D too, so Kobo, nook etc should also be live. (I have my own iTunes account - makes sense since I'm a Mac guy anyway)

message 1565: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Will likely open up other countries for you, too, I imagine.

Perma free has been good for my Fuel trilogy. I think it would have died a death had the first book not been free. I still can't get Bookbub to run it though, even in UK only. They did run Imperfect Strangers, however, UK only, which returned five times the stake in sales (listing has gone up in price since then). Not certain my fantasy titles would have performed as well as that.

message 1566: by Andrew (new)

Andrew Barrett | 1537 comments The trilogy looks great, Tim! You'll do well on Apple. my perma free of A Long Time Dead does very well.

message 1567: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Thanks Andy :)

message 1568: by M.T. (new) - added it

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I can recommend a free part 1 as well. It's done wonders for the K'Barthan Series. I did get a uk bub for that. 3,000 downloads, 60 mailing list sign ups and a big spike in sales of my other books.

message 1569: by M.T. (last edited Jun 04, 2016 12:37AM) (new) - added it

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Oh and as a uk bub it cost about $60 which was about £40 at the time. :-)

message 1570: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Thanks Mary. Do you need yo put the book free before applying for the bookbub, or is it better to wait until (!) it's accepted?

message 1571: by M.T. (new) - added it

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I got it free first and I optimised the listing with a few keywords to make the most of the bump when it went free. Then I applied to bookbub and told them in the comments bit that I was flexible about date. After a bit of deliberation I also wrote to them and said I was pretty relaxed about country too. They wrote back saying that if I wanted to limit my bub to UK, Canada and India I could. I took that as an invitation to apply for those, did so, and got one.

Cheers

MTM

Tim | 8539 comments Stealth freeness has started!

Wanted is now free on iBooks, and that state will permeate through to nook & Kobo (D2D seem to be a bit slower to react than Apple). Yay! :D

What I'd like now is for a few people to report a cheaper price to the Zon (pretty please), then we can spread the freeness around.

Woohoo!

iTunes links (cos they'll ask you):

https://itunes.apple.com/gb/book/want...
https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/want...

And of course the Zon links:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CVTK6Q6
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CVTK6Q6

And if you have an iThing, please help yourself to a free copy of Wanted: it's been updated, and you can never have too much of a good thing. :)

message 1573: by Pam (new)

Pam Baddeley | 3336 comments Actually just bought Wanted from Amazon ...

message 1574: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Ach! Sod's law! I'm sure they'll refund you the dosh if you raise a ticket - or just get a refund and "buy" it again once they've done the price match.

message 1575: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Reported as free to Amazon. Good luck.

I ended up emailing them myself, stating that it was free elsewhere, first in a series and having it free was a part of my marketing strategy.

message 1576: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Yes I emailed them yesterday, although I've had no reply and it's still not free.

Ironically, I've sold more copies since I started the 'free process', than in whole rest of June!

message 1577: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments Ah! The law of Sod.

I think it took about two weeks for mine to go free on Amazon. Helps if you get some people stateside to report it too.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Not even a little bit of nothing?

message 1583: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Not even hardly anything (well, it's always been hardly anything in the overall scheme of things, but it's still a bigger hardly anything than everywhere else.

There's a dog barking away somewhere outside, sounds exactly like SONAR!

OK Tim, I've applied for a refund with 'better price elsewhere' as the reason from the dropdown list.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Good one, Pam!

message 1598: by Tim (new) - added it

Tim | 8539 comments Excellent Pam, hope you enjoy it. :)

Over 100 downloads yesterday. I did post an ad on Facebook, which some people have graciously shared, but I haven't boosted it or anything. Also chuffed to report the first UK follow on sales for the rest of the trilogy. :D

The current rankings are:

UK
#4 in Dystopian
#5 in Post-apocalyptic (the same 3 books are ahead of me in both, and they have hundreds of reviews)
#239 overall in free Kindle store

US is dropping rather:
#80 in Post-apocalyptic
#5636 overall

Graeme Rodaughan Hi Tim,

The follow on sales are a key factor,.

So people are seeing that you have written three volumes (and quite quickly) so you establish credibility that you can produce work.

They like the overall story concept and go buy the early volumes.

Excellent.

Cheers Graeme
