So I must make sure they are great books that he'll really enjoy so he doesn't regret allowing me to control the listening aspect of the trip.
**PLEASE READ BEFORE RECOMMENDING!!**
1. We have kids so NO explicit sex. Violence and horror still okay. 2. He will enjoy any genre except romance. Though he doesn't mind a tiny bit of romance as a secondary story line but it cannot be the major focal point. It's got to be far far faaarrrr in the background. 3. Humor is a plus. Action/Suspense a plus. Nothing with a slow pace or a story line that is too intricate to follow. If he has to really think about it then he will lose interest quick. 4. NOTHING MILITARY related. I have no interest in listening to hours of him correcting every single faulty thing in the book. Regulation this... regulation that... His nitpicking will ruin the entire experience. 5. STANDALONES only. Nothing from a series or anything with cliffhangers. Because he will never read the rest of the series. Once the road trip is over so is his interest in reading.

If you don't mind history and politics, 11/22/63, is a great book. The narrator is excellent too. There's some mild violence, but it goes with the book's timeframe. Plus, it's now a Hulu series.
