“... so this is for us.
This is for us who sing, write, dance, act, study, run and love
and this is for doing it even if no one will ever know
because the beauty is in the act of doing it.
Not what it can lead to.
This is for the times I lose myself while writing, singing, playing
and no one is around and they will never know
but I will forever remember
and that shines brighter than any praise or fame or glory I will ever have,
and this is for you who write or play or read or sing
by yourself with the light off and door closed
when the world is asleep and the stars are aligned
and maybe no one will ever hear it
or read your words
or know your thoughts
but it doesn’t make it less glorious.
It makes it ethereal. Mysterious.
Infinite.
For it belongs to you and whatever God or spirit you believe in
and only you can decide how much it meant
and means
and will forever mean
and other people will experience it too
through you.
Through your spirit. Through the way you talk.
Through the way you walk and love and laugh and care
and I never meant to write this long
but what I want to say is:
Don’t try to present your art by making other people read or hear or see or touch it; make them feel it. Wear your art like your heart on your sleeve and keep it alive by making people feel a little better. Feel a little lighter. Create art in order for yourself to become yourself
and let your very existence be your song, your poem, your story.
Let your very identity be your book.
Let the way people say your name sound like the sweetest melody.

So go create. Take photographs in the wood, run alone in the rain and sing your heart out high up on a mountain
where no one will ever hear
and your very existence will be the most hypnotising scar.
Make your life be your art
and you will never be forgotten.”

Egon Schiele
“Bodies have their own light which they consume to live: they burn, they are not lit from the outside.”
Egon Schiele

Laura Miller
“Buying a book is not about obtaining a possession, but about securing a portal.”
Laura Miller, The Magician's Book: A Skeptic's Adventures in Narnia

Rick Riordan
“Piper gave Lit a friendly sorry-about-that smile. Even with her hair messed up and wearing two-day-old clothes, she looked extremely cute, and Jason felt a little jealous she was giving Lit that smile.”
Rick Riordan, The Lost Hero

Jennifer Elisabeth
“Starting over can be the scariest thing in the entire world, whether it’s leaving a lover, a school, a team, a friend or anything else that feels like a core part of our identity but when your gut is telling you that something here isn’t right or feels unsafe, I really want you to listen and trust in that voice.”
Jennifer Elisabeth, Born Ready: Unleash Your Inner Dream Girl

Jennifer Elisabeth
“This is your life – not your parents’, teachers’ or significant other’s. If you ever find yourself on a path that just doesn’t feel safe anymore, you have every right to stop the car, get out – change your shoes and start walking.”
Jennifer Elisabeth, Born Ready: Unleash Your Inner Dream Girl

Charlotte Eriksson
“It's the smell of him in the bathroom, all I need to get ready for the day. Watching him get dressed, and the sound in the kitchen; a slow hum of a song and his movements, picking things to eat. The way I could observe him, for hours, just go on with his day – or as he sleeps – simply breathing in and out, in and out, and it's like the hymn that sings me to peace.
I know the world is still out there and I know I'm not yet friendly to its pace, but as long as I know him with me, here, there, somewhere – us – I know I have a chance.”
Charlotte Eriksson

Jennifer Elisabeth
“I never want you to deny anything about yourself because you have grown up thinking it’s unacceptable or inconvenient for the people around you.”
Jennifer Elisabeth, Born Ready: Unleash Your Inner Dream Girl

Anne Sexton
“I should be working and not writing you. But this is a missing you, where are you, hello and necessary for my soul.”
Anne Sexton, Anne Sexton: A Self-Portrait in Letters

Jennifer Elisabeth
“Being a Dream Girl is never going to be about what you look like or how much you weigh. After all, our physical appearances are just reflections of our inner worlds. What makes you a Dream Girl is your emotional sensitivity, your self-awareness, and your ability to communicate who you are effectively and compassionately in the world.”
Jennifer Elisabeth, Born Ready: Unleash Your Inner Dream Girl

Akshay Vasu
“She lit fire to the bridges and forts she built all these years, and she walked into it smiling and tears rolling down her cheeks.”

Laura Miller
“Adventure,' then, is what might otherwise be called hardship if it were attempted in a different spirit. Turning a difficult task or a perilous journey into an adventure is largely a matter of telling yourself the right story about it, which is one thing that Lewis's child characters have learned from reading, 'the right books.”
Laura Miller, The Magician's Book: A Skeptic's Adventures in Narnia

Laura Miller
“If you've ever read one of those articles that asks notable people to list their favorite books, you may have been impressed or daunted to see them pick Proust or Thomas Mann or James Joyce. You might even feel sheepish about the fact that you reread Pride and Prejudice or The Lord of the Rings, or The Catcher in the Rye or Gone With the Wind every couple of years with some much pleasure. Perhaps, like me, you're even a little suspicious of their claims, because we all know that the books we've loved best are seldom the ones we esteem the most highly - or the ones we'd most like other people to think we read over and over again.”
Laura Miller, The Magician's Book: A Skeptic's Adventures in Narnia

Anne Sexton
“No. Not really red,
but the color of a rose when it bleeds.”
Anne Sexton, The Complete Poems

Jennifer Elisabeth
“Can you identify the source preventing you from feeling good every single day, from loving yourself unconditionally and making your dreams come true? Is it a voice in your head or a gut wrenching ache that compromises your inner peace and doesn’t allow you to accept the love around you? Is there one thing, or maybe many things, keeping you from forgiving your past and moving forward, tormenting you with lies like “You don’t deserve real love so just settle for whatever you can get,” “You’re not smart enough to achieve your dream so don’t even try,” or “Look at your past… you should hate yourself way more than you actually do!”?

Welcome to your Little Monster.”
Jennifer Elisabeth, Born Ready: Unleash Your Inner Dream Girl

Laura Miller
“If we weigh the significance of a book by the effect it has on its readers, then the great children's books suddenly turn up very high on the list.”
Laura Miller, The Magician's Book: A Skeptic's Adventures in Narnia

Sinclair Lewis
“I was feeling rational and restless, which is horrible for watching movies”
Sinclair Lewis, Arrowsmith

Jennifer Elisabeth
“Even if we try to conform to ideals and strive for perfection, we will always be pulled back to our core identity because it’s the path of least resistance for our souls – an energy force that wants nothing more than for us to honor and accept who we are and discover what we’re meant to do in the world.”
Jennifer Elisabeth, Born Ready: Unleash Your Inner Dream Girl

Akshay Vasu
“They lit her wings with the flames, but she raised to the sky soaring over the clouds until the whole sky caught fire. She flew staring at the destruction with her cold eyes, while the clouds came down as the balls of fire and burnt everyone, who tried to take her wings away into ashes.”
Akshay Vasu
