IF YOU WANT TO RECOMMEND A BOOK FOR THE BOOK LISTS:
The Rules on Recommending:
- Please make sure you're picking books that fit the moods!

- Preferably only recommend 1 book for each of the moods but if you can't choose then recommend 3 and I will randomly pick 1 from the 3 to add to the list.
- You can also recommend for just 1 of the moods, it doesn't have to be both.
- The book(s) you recommend can be MG, YA, Adult or New Adult and can be any genre but please make sure the book is appropriate.
- The book can be a graphic novel.
- The book must be in English or translated to English.
- The book must be more than 100 pages long.
- I would really love it if you could leave a comment here or on the respective polls explaining why the book(s) you recommended makes you happy or sad (without spoilers of course). You don't have to do this but it'd be nice!

Lynn For my happy book, I'm going to recommend Trouble Is a Friend of Mine (Trouble, #1) by Stephanie Tromly . The character of Philip Digby is just so quirky and the trouble that he gets Zoe into is laugh out loud hilarious. The beginning of the story puts the reader right into a crazy situation and the last few chapters are filled with twists and turns. This is one of my all time favorite books.

As a secondary choice I would recommend 10 Blind Dates by Ashley Elston . This is a recent read for me and just a super cute story. Sophie overhears her boyfriend telling a friend that she isn't fun anymore, so after they break up, Sophie's family decides to set her up on 10 blind dates. The dates are sweet and funny. For more fun, the family includes a betting pool on how long each date will last.

Alexis Voelker Books that make me happy: middle grade would be Ella Enchanted! So much better than the movie and still fun to read as an adult.
For YA I would recommend Caraval! This was just a fun new setting and a good unpredictable journey to embark on!

message 4: by Dee Dee (new)

Dee Dee (Dee Reads for Food) Recently I'd have to say Amari and the Night Brothers and House in the Cerulean Sea

message 5: by Marie (new)

Marie Chandler For a sad, i recommend Flowers for Algernon. It really makes you reflect on how those with mental handicaps are treated. I cried... a lot.

For happy, I have to suggest Get a Life, Chloe Brown. It can be kind of sad in parts, but overall, it is a book full of hope and healing and just gave me all the warm and fuzzy feelings.

A Robin Reads I'm going to recommend:
Ready Player One

This book makes me happy, because I love all the adventure in this one. Also the characters are all amazing. I also want to reread this soon, so it would be a good one to recommend, so I can read it with you guys.

@Lynn I've added it above
@Alexis I'm going to go with your mg choice seeing as this is an mg group and I'm partial to mg😂 I've added it above
@Dee Dee I used a random picker and it chose your second book so I've added it above
@Marie I've added it above. Also I've added your sad recommendation to the sad poll, thanks for including them both
@Robin omg I loved that book! And I've added it above

@Robin it’s here: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/2...
Sorry I didn’t send out invites for it yet because I didn’t want to flood people with too many invites at once! It’s open to everyone already though!

A Robin Reads Thanks Kadi!
Yeah, I couldn't find it on the homepage either, so therefore my question

Got it!

message 13: by Anita (new)

Anita I voted for Ella Enchanted. I wasn't too sure about what was meant by "happy." Like, just a fun romp? That's Ella. No tears. I loved RP1, but it's upper YA / borderline NA with an 18yo MC, senior in HS, and older characters. Ella's technically YA, but clean and MG readable. I haven't read any of the others.

@Anita you can actually recommend your own choice you don’t have to vote for what’s already there! I think some people have been confused by this because usually polls are for voting for existing choices but I just use polls to make lists of recommendations because it’s an easier place to do it than discussion pages.

Also yeah it’s hard to define happy which was why I left it open to whatever book makes you happy. Usually that’s like humorous books or fun adventures. I personally added a mystery book to the list as my recommendation because reading them makes me happy!

message 15: by Ilsen (new)

Ilsen It’s actually very hard to choose but my recommendations for happy books are:

Love and Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch (Super fun travel story and the romance is so swoon worthy)
Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi (I find it so whimsical and comforting and I love the main character)
Wicked Fox by Kat Cho (One of my favorite books of last year and it’s a fun take on Korean mythology)

@Ilsen the random generator chose the 1st recommendation so I'll add it above!

@Deaflower I'll add it above!
