To be on the safe side: "Regency era," as in both/either set in and/or written during the Regency era? (I.e., both fiction originally written during that time, and historical novels written later but set in the Regency era?)

It can also be books about the era like Georgette Heyer's Regency World by Jennifer Kloester. :)
Interesting. The Regency Era is from 1811-1820, as in the literal period of time the Prince of Wales ruled as Prince Regent. Though 1811-1837 is sometimes used as the period of time between the Georgian and Victorian eras. And, 1795-1837 is sometimes used when . . . "The Regency era is being contrasted with the Eighteenth Century . . .". I'm not sure I know what that means. So, is the Regency Era for this list 1811-1820 (the actual Regency), 1811-1837 (being the period between the Georgian and Victorian eras), or 1795-1837?
I ask as many of the historical books I read at the moment tend to fall in the Georgian or in the Regency era depending on the dates used for those eras.
I wonder how a book with 3 ratings got 23 votes on this list? Mysteries of the universe.ETA: What's really weird is how many other GR authors voted for it!

And all 23 ranked it 1 of 1.

The period between 1795 and 1837 (the latter part of the reign of George III and the reigns of his sons George IV, as Prince Regent and King, and William IV) was characterized by distinctive trends in British architecture, literature, fashions, politics, and culture."
I was going for the 1795-1837 period to make room for all the great literature of the time. :) You're right, though, it can sometimes be confusing.
