What Members Thought

There has never been a novel with a more apt title.
Changes.
Holy. Shit.
It’s rare that you come across a book that can tear you through such a gamut of emotions with an intense ferocity capable of leaving you limp and dazed. It takes skill to create a character who demands that sort of personal investment. It takes balls to put that character through such agony as to elicit an empathetic welling of fear and sorrow from the reader.
Butcher is both a genius and a madman.

This is a hard book to review because I don't want to post any spoilers. But how can you stay away from talking about that ending?!? I'll just keep this short and sweet...
Harry thinks his life might finally be slowing down a little when he gets a call from Susan Rodriguez. She tells him they have a daughter and that she has been kidnapped by the Red Court. Harry has to save her and save her fast. It takes all of his skills, cunning, and allies to help him out and even then not much goes as plann ...more

I enjoyed the hell out of this book. I got into the Dresden Files books a little late and read them all in fairly short order - up until Changes. It wasn't out yet and even when it came out I didn't get to it for a bit.
The action is a bit over the top, but this is a fun, fast read. I had to read the last couple of pages a couple times, but I'm thinking it meant there is a sequel or more on the way. If not? It went out in a big way.

A brilliant book with so much going on. The book starts off with a big reveal in the first chapter and the story just doesn't let up, leaving us with a dreaded cliff hanger ending (A Dresden book with a cliff hanger? No!!!). The book has some really interesting character development and it really leaves you desperate for the next installment. I fear writing too much as I think so much of it would delve into spoiler territor. Suffice it to say, this was a brilliant book full of emotional ups and

First line: I answered the phone, and Susan Rodriguez said, “They’ve taken our daughter.”
I understand now why a GR member has as a moniker, "Harry Dresden's Love Slave." Harry, and this series of books, is simply amazing. I would name my first born after him, if I could.
No rehash of the plot - there are too many twists, too many reveals, too many ch-ch-ch-changes that occur that would simply spoil the read for the next reader should they be summarized in a review. Suffice to say, this is a worth ...more

Wow! Double wow! Some many changes for Harry. It's a wonder he survived....
