What Members Thought
I loved, loved, loved Will, Jem and Tessa, and especially Will and Jem's bond, it's so lovely to see someone as brash as Will really care. And Magnus Bane! Magnus Bane is always a delight, though his love for Camille makes my heart ache, considering what happens in the future.
What I didn't like was Tessa's blind love for her selfish, weak-spined, cowardly brother - so much death could've been avoided if she hadn't been foolishly blind when it came to him. And then Jessamine. I hope she gets squ ...more

*Spoiler alert!* After reading the excellent Mortal Instruments trilogy, I went into this book with pretty high expectations and unfortunately I was slightly let down. The plot for starters felt to me in many ways like a retread of the Mortal Instruments plot. A very strong female lead (not that I have anything against strong female leads mind you), a love triangle, the female lead not knowing who or in this case what she is, one parent that she thought was her parent actually isn't, an insane b

(Listopia challenge) Take an old England setting, a beautiful orphan girl and her missing brother, a race of demon hunters - two of which are handsome young men, add vampires and cyborgs and you have an idea of the story of Clockwork Angel. Interesting, but lots of elements to track and I'm not vested in any of the characters or the romance yet.
If you like the romance between Will and Tessa, be sure to read the attic scene from Will's point of view.

Clockwork Angel is a young adult novel that has something for everyone: a bit of romance, a bit of steampunk, a bit of vampires, and a bit of paranormal suspense.
The novel is set in Victorian London, England. While Clare's writing does lean towards simplicity, she successfully bring the reader into her world with a mix of both historical reality and steampunk/paranormal fantasy. I'd definitely recommend the book for teens and adults alike but because it can be a a bit dark in spots, I ...more

Not really into steampunk, but the characters here were great, and the story interesting so I didn't really notice.
