What Members Thought

I honestly don't know why I waited so long to read this one. I found out that it published in 2011, but it only just hit my radar a few years ago when my friends kept mentioning it. I didn't give much thought about it until then, so I had no idea it had been out for eleven years. If I had read it back when it was published, Jake and I would have been the same age. However, at that time I had a five year-old, a three year-old, and a baby. So big books like this one would have scared me off. Nowad

Dang this book is long. This started out as a 3 star read/listen for me, but I became progressively more and more irritated at its excessive length, so it was downgraded to 2 stars, and then finally down to 1 star. This just didn't need to be this long.
This would be a great book if you're snowed in at your family's ski lodge,* with nothing better to do than drink hot cocoa, play gin rummy, and listen to a long-ass story. Unfortunately, I am not stranded in a ski lodge, and I resented the amount ...more

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. It was very different from the few other works of Stephen King's that I have read. No horror or gore, just a very imaginative and interesting story.

I was not impressed by this book. It started off strong! I was really hooked… then we went for numerous pages talking about nothing important to the story and it was almost like he forgot what he was writing until he remembered about Kennedy and what he was supposed to do.
This book was entirely too long.
This book was entirely too long.

Quite a story! Interesting. Took me longer to read than I expected considering I am on vacation. Of course, it is quite long! But it didn't draw me in like some books do. A lot of history. And a love story, which surprised me coming from Stephen King.
