I am enjoying the book too. It's interesting getting to know Holmes and Watson, since they are such a part of popular references. I thought the parts in Chapter 2 told a lot about Holmes when it said he only focused on certain subjects and ignored other topics that might clutter his mind (he refers to his mind as an attic.) I chuckled when Watson was alarmed that Holmes had no knowledge of the solar system.
I enjoy mysteries so the deductive reasoning process is up my alley. I didn't know that the book would be written so well and that it would hold my interest (being written over a hundred years ago.) It's been a pleasant surprise.
I am farther in the book and it takes an odd turn about halfway through. I'll be curious what you think when you get to Part 2.

Are you going to have time to discuss it if you are reacclimating to work? Would you rather wait until the weekend?

I start back at work tomorrow, have been off since december 23rd so I probably wont be around goodreads much this week while Im getting u..."
I realized we talked about reading A Study in Scarlet at the same time. Would you like to me to hold off on starting that? I can start with something else.

I might try one too. Looks like the page numbers fit. (over 100 pages) Do you want to read A Study in Scarlet? I could read that or The Sign of Four (which is the second.) I can get either from my library right now.

I am embarrassed to admit that despite mystery being one of my favorite genres, I have not read any Sherlock Holmes stories. Any recommended stories Sehrish and Sammy?

Hi Romina,
My husband had a hemmoragic stroke almost 2 years ago, when he was 56. It impacted his right side and has been slow to recover. He is able to walk but has not regained the use of his right arm. It is a work in progress. Thankfully, his mental facilities are good. And he is pleasant company to be around all day.

@ Felicity, sure :) My library hold just came in so I'm good to start reading it on Feb 1."
You'll have to let me know how you like it. I loved The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue but haven't read anything else by the author. I don't know if it is too fantasy for me.
I also wanted to say to not worry about the rules. You'll see how it all comes together as we start reading.

Sorry it was the blue 7. I am planning on reading Vicious for the Red 7.

Paris- I discovered and loved Becky Chambers’ (sci-fi author) books last year and they were so clever and the characters are kind and relatable, even as other species. As for fantasy, I didn’t think I was a fan but 3 of my favorite books last year were fantasy- The Midnight Library, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, and The Echo Wife.
Romina- my husband has spent some time with speech pathologists and I have a lot of respect for your work.
