8565 Sorry, I was gone for a few days and have been trying to catch up. Donna never did contact me, and I see that is the only comment she has made in the group. I say we go on without her. There are two things we can do...

1. We can pick from the group of books we already have

2. We can each nominate another book for each other

I am good with going with the list as it is. There is plenty there for me.

What do you all think?

Sounds like you are in a bit of a pickle with the current books. :)

I have seen The Lake House. It is one of my favorite movies, actually. I loved in your review when you said that this book reminded you of that. I totally agree.

How cool that you got a signed copy, of course you know that I am jealous. :) I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.

8565 The Liars' Gospel by Naomi Alderman

This book would not be for everyone, that is for sure. It is a really different look at the history of Israel during the time that Jesus was alive. I really enjoyed the history in the story, and found the author's take on the Jesus phenomena and the Jewish faith interesting and thought provoking. 4 stars

8565 A Corner of White by Jaclyn Moriarty

Another YA fantasy book. I found this one extremely easy to read and really liked the plot and story flow. I especially liked the way the author worked some actual science into the story. I am definitely going to read the second in the series when it comes out. 4.5 stars

8565 My problem is that I want to read them all.
May 09, 2013 03:02PM

8565 I know. She is fast, huh?
May 09, 2013 02:57PM

8565 Yep, it came out last month.
May 09, 2013 02:43PM

8565 BTW - I just sent Donna a PM to let her know that we are a team and directed her to this thread to give us our choices.

8565 I just got the second book in the series Dark Triumph and am trying to work it into my busy schedule.

I also read The Lovely Bones quite a while ago. It was before Goodreads, so I may not have it listed on here. I remember liking it, but beind dissatisfied with the ending, but I can't remember why. I may have to read it again.

8565 I strongly recommend Grave Mercy, it is one of my faves.
May 08, 2013 03:52PM

8565 I will amend the rules to that effect.

8565 I was wondering the same thing, Carrie. I was going to give her one more day, then send her a PM and let her know.

I would have loved either of those, D.G. :) But I loved the ones that you picked anyway.
May 08, 2013 03:15PM

8565 I was thinking the same thing, D.G.

8565 Dee and Amy - Since the theme picker is no longer tied to whoever finishes their first book the quickest, I see no reason to worry about when people start anymore, so as far as I am concerned, you can either start anytime on the 15th.

Actually - I was thinking that we could amend the rules to say that you can start whenever your team has completed picking your books and makeing the lists. What do you all think??

I myself gave this book 5 stars, Sherri. I really liked the way that the author explored the subject. I still have the follow-up book to read, which I hear is also good.

8565 All of these picks look so great. I am going to have a hard time deciding.
