801397 Well at least we have plenty of books to read, even if we don't have enough time to read them all. We won't run out of reading material at least lol.

801397 That sounds great Ami! I try to read diversely, though I slack in the poc authors/characters. I'm queer and disabled so I seek that stuff out all the time, but i'm white and I know my shelves reflect that too and I do want to do better there. I read diversely in terms of genre though too as I love to read so many different things so if something sounds interesting to me i'll pick it up. Problem is I seem to want to read EVERYTHING and I can't read fast enough lol.

801397 Oh and also there is a stickied thread in the General section with the monthly themes list :) later this year one for next year will go up too. The one for this year is here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

801397 We do things a bit ahead of time so everyone has time (including me) to get their "ducks in a row", and I always state the month. I only get paid once a month, on the 10th, so I need to have the time to get a book if I need to buy it (I can't get out to a library) before the month starts rather than in the middle of the month which might not leave me enough time to read it. Which is why I do it this way :)

I tend to use up my book money right away lol, leaving me broke by the time a new month rolls around.

Creatures in the Woods theme starts today (the month is always in the thread title)...I'm going to read Bigfoot Crank Stomp for it later this month.

801397 July's Group Read for Zombies is Feed by Mira Grant! Which this thread is to discuss :)

Please use spoiler tags and chapter/page numbers when talking about the book.

801397 Wow that was fast! I haven't even gotten Skitter and Zero Day yet. Don't know when i'll get around to them tbh. If I even do.

801397 Which one would you like to nominate Sarah? They both sound interesting :)

Anyone else have a nomination before the poll goes up?

801397 Welcome Sarah!

I have aphantasia as well but am character-driven. Of course i'm also an emotional infp lol. I can lose the plot but if i've fallen in love with the characters i'm good. I have strong feelings for characters and themes but forget details and plot points quite easily. It's interesting how it can affect different people. :)

I hope you find many enjoyable books to read and enjoy your time here.

801397 You're not stupid. The folders just stop showing on the main page if they haven't been active in 90 days. I tried changing it but it went back...guess it's a Goodreads thing.

You can find all the folders (for future reference) by going to the Group home page, to the right of Discussion Board it says "topic: all | new | unread" click all and they all show up. Click new and you can make a new topic and there will be a drop down menu where you can choose any folder, even if it's not showing on the home page.

801397 What books with mummies do you know of? I know of a few but not many.

I have (but have yet to read) The Mummy by Anne Rice.

I have read (it was on protected pdf from netgalley so I no longer have it) The Mammoth book of the Mummy by Paula Guran which I ended up giving an over-all average of 3.22.

I also have (but haven't read yet) Into the Mummy's Tomb by John Richard Stephens.

Others i've found on here (but don't have so I can't vouch for any of them or anything) include: The Mummies of Ürümchi by Elizabeth Wayland Barber, Lost in a Pyramid & Other Classic Mummy Stories by Andrew Smith, Out of the Sand: Mummies, Pyramids, and Egyptology in Classic Science Fiction and Fantasy by Chad Arment, Unearthed: Classic Tales of the Mummy by John J. Johnston, The Mummy Megapack: 20 Modern and Classic Tales by John Gregory Betancourt, Mummies, Tombs, and Treasure: Secrets of Ancient Egypt by Lila Perl Yerkow, The Mummy Congress: Science, Obsession, and the Everlasting Dead by Heather Pringle and The Mummy (Valancourt 20th Century Classics) by Riccardo Stephens.

And if middle grade is up your alley I enjoyed The Mummy Walks by R.L. Stine.

I have a desire to read more mummy tales but they aren't the easiest to find. Though I seem to have found more than I realized. :)

801397 I just realized we have a "Killer Nature" folder. Creepy crawlies would apply there :)
May 21, 2019 04:21AM

801397 Lol! Also there is an "other" folder stuff can go in if it doesn't fit anywhere else. I could make a folder for creepy crawlies though if you want.

801397 So many awesome sounding nominations! I've only read one Keene book, Darkness of the Edge of Town, and loved it!

I desperately want to read Feed because of all the wonderful things i've heard about it, I just feel bad because i've basically ignored the few netgalley books I still have, one of which is Sparrow Hill Road by her, and here I am, reading her other books and not the book I got from Netgalley >.< I know, I need to fix that at some point. But at least i'm buying her other books so...that's something? Right? >.<

I think regardless of what wins for July it'll be a fun time!

801397 I think i'll nominate My Life as a White Trash Zombie by Diana Rowland. Which I read 2 years ago and loved, got the rest of the series and never continued. I've recently got it on audio so I can listen to it as a re-read before I continue with the series.

801397 July's theme is Zombies!

Nominate some zombie books to read in July!

After this thread has been up for a bit and has some nominations a poll will be held with the nominations to decide July's group read!

801397 Hi and welcome! I definitely want to check out that trilogy!
May 15, 2019 04:33PM

801397 Glad you both enjoyed it! The only thing I didn't like about it was the ending, I didn't feel like it fit the rest of the book. But otherwise I really enjoyed it too.
