801397 I've only read the first chapter and i'm already annoyed. page 5 "Mr. Micklas was small and dapper but had fingers missing from both hands, which made shaking hands an embarrassment, though not apparently for him." Why should it be an embarrasment?

I have 9 fingers (which is only 1 less than 10 and it says fingers in his case). I was born with a hypoplastic left thumb and had pollicization surgery when I was 2 which took the useless left thumb off and put my left index finger-which still looks exactly like my right index finger if put side by side-in it's place. So my left thumb, now, was originally my index finger. I love my hand. It works just fine.

Anyway in just the first chapter it goes on several times about his missing fingers in the weirdest way. Like...so he doesn't have 10 fingers? So what? And then page 12 "Rosemary sipped her drink, keeping her left hand all-fingers-crossed under the table." Is that really necessary? Unless specified otherwise I think it's assumed people have 10 fingers. Like...I get it...you dislike less than 10 fingers man...move on.

Sorry. That's just irritating me.

801397 I haven't seen the movie myself. I should probably do that too. If you want to discuss the movie you can. We have a TV & Movies folder here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... :) Of course it would work here too.
801397 In The Woods by Tana French has won September's group read! This is the thread to discuss In The Woods in September.

Please use spoiler tags and chapter/page numbers when talking about the book.

801397 I'm not either. I can't do a 24 hour readathon plus I don't participate in many readathons, though I am in the middle of one right now. The Reading Rush https://thereadingrush.com/ which used to be known as BooktubeAThon.

801397 Libby is apparently made by overdrive, or the same people. I think they are basically the same thing.

I've watched one movie from Hoopla "The Wild Thornberrys Movie" from 2002 (came out when I was 13) as the wild thornberrys was among my favorite childhood shows! I still love it. :)

And have so far read one book from Hoopla- Book love by Debbie Tung.

I also borrowed 2 poetry books. The Popular Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur and one I haven't heard of, some disability poetry (and being disabled myself I had to get it!) Bent at the Spine by Nicole Markotic. Just got a library card and already using it :)

I think me and my library card are going to go on adventures!
