770270 RIP Gerald

Sleep well, old friend.
We talked about sci-fi and jazz,
And even formed a band,
On paper anyway.
It was called
Ebony Ned
And The Sodah Men.
But why Sodah?
And not Soda?
Now I will never know.
770270 Yes, comet Leonard. As I am unlikely to see its next visit, I will try to see it this time.

770270 Indeed. Unfortunately not much peace yet, in fact there is more war and violence.

770270 Thanks GB, season's greetings to you also. Yes, some peace would indeed be welcome.

770270 The Return of the Sailor

Now he's standing
At your side.
He has returned
With the tide,
From the ocean
Deep and wide.
So do not chide,
Or else deride.
Cherish him.

770270 A Portent

My mind
Was once crystal clear
And razor sharp.
But now
It is cloudy
And blunted.
I can hear
The splash of Charon's oars
As he comes to collect me
For my final journey
Across the river Styx.

770270 The ancient rock stars

They climb up onto the stage
Their legs aching
They peer out through their bleary eyes.

They flex their gnarled fingers
And strike out the first chords.!
The singer wails
His wrinkled face contorted
As he utters the old words
Engraved into his brain.

Fifty years have passed
They have reached three score years
And ten.
In the words of the song:
"They hoped they'd die
Before they got old".
But that did not happen.

770270 Calm down dear GB! I think you have your emotion circuit turned up too high .... That war is long over. It was indeed terrible, but there have been many more since then. But not, fortunately, the expected nuclear Armageddon war.

770270 I don't know what happened to the other Nazi ships, but in 1954 the Windrush caught fire and eventually sank.
