770270 These phenomena are Japanese and Korean (South) pop music. Both seem to be mainly performed by boy bands and girl bands.

770270 Indeed. The sensible Kiwis have not been lured into the Eurovision fold. But a similar competition could be held in the southern hemisphere. Then the English speakers could do battle with J-POP and K-POP!

770270 It certainly has! A number of times in fact. But Australia is MUCH further from the centre of Europe.

770270 Sad to see that Australia failed to win the cultural competition. An interesting question: if Australia did win, would the next event take place so far distant from Europe???
770270 That's just greedy .....

770270 Simon is not one to rest on his laurels ....

Unfortunately the royalist celebrations were spoiled by republican rain.

770270 I'm ok, my thoughts are always scrubbed with carbolic soap at time of production.

770270 Today is May Day Holiday in UK. In the old days, the youths and maidens would dance around the magpie (considered by Freud as a phallic symbol, which is plausible for the season)

770270 Another jazz poem

The drummer thrashes his kit
The bassist sets a solid beat
The pianist comps the chords
Harmonic heaven
The trumpet man blows
His cheeks inflated
His notes like brass bullets.

The audience applaud
The jazzmen are testifying.

770270 I'm so glad about that! Can we now hope that the barbaric Kiwis can eventually be civilised, at least to the level of the Aussies?

770270 Ah, the first Chat post of the new year ....

Fortunately I have no tick to lose. But of course I feel deep sorrow for the celebrity losers.
