749599 February nominations will be open from today, January 1st, until January 19th. If we don't get a group read book in the time that the thread is open a poll will be created on the 20th and the first book will be our February Group Read.

PLEASE keep in mind that in 2025 we are nominating Mystery, Suspense/Thriller, and Science fiction books only. If the book you want to nominate doesn't fall into those three genres you can still nominate it in the buddy read thread later in the month when the thread is made.

You can nominate as many books as you'd like. Just include the title/author or a link to the book by using the "add book/author" tool. If there is a nominated book that you'd like to read, simply state that you also vote for that book. Series can be nominated if we have already read the first book or you are nominating the first book. Please make sure we have not read the book you want to nominate. You can check on this thread to see what books we have read so far.

Thank you for your suggestion :D
I'm definitively gonna try this, including all three categories because if we chose what category should win for the month we could have the situation of people voting for something and not participating, while maybe someone that would participate doesn't want to because the picked thing isn't something they read... which I see is a big thing why GR threads stay empty.
Dec 19, 2024 06:58AM

749599 @Brianna
I read your suggestion for the group reads, although after I made the thread (that's why it's locked)😅 And I want to try it, so in a bit there'll be a few polls set up.
Dec 18, 2024 01:51PM

749599 Hello Procrastinators,

We asked you in the Feedback for 2025 thread on your thoughts on a few topics, the one that concerns me the most are the group reads. That's the only thing that I always dread when I have to make threads, because the thread usually ends up not being used.

Therefore, year 2025 is going to be another experiment with group reads. Don't expect it to have perfect logic behind it, don't even expect logic.

Thanks to Brianna for giving the suggestion of having more options when it comes to Group reads as new releases, backlist, and series. I'm going to set up a few polls and let you suggest.

NEW RELEASES
The poll is going to be open for you to add new December/January releases that you want to read. It's going to be like the Mod Pick of the month, but everything is open so YOU guys suggest the releases and vote. I would BEG you to go through the already suggested books before adding your suggestion in case that someone already added your book to the poll.

To paricipate click here.

SERIES
This poll is going to be for book series. Through out the years we started a lot of series reading the first book and then just moving on because not enough people wanted to continue the chosen series as group reads. That's why here you can suggest a series you want to read, if it's getting picked as most voted there's going to be a thread for it no matter if people want to read the next book with you or not.

To paricipate click here.

BACKLIST BUT let's chose genres first
This one may not be included in the January GR because I want to switch a bit the main focus of the genre we are picking as Group reads. So after we chose two genres that are NOT going to be romantic fantasy we can try and explore other books and maybe find new things that we like to read.

Chose the genres we'll be reading next year here.
Dec 18, 2024 01:47PM

749599 Anyone can nominate as many books as you'd like and look for a buddy! Any book that gets two nominations or more will have a buddy thread created for discussion during January. Please decide your start date and reading pace/reading goals in this thread. Once that has been decided, the mods will create a Buddy Read Discussion thread for that title. Reading the Buddy Read Guidelines is strongly recommended. There is no promise that you will have a buddy read for your nomination(s).
