At first
Rapture might seem like a big risk for AA
Emily Maguire, but she's definitely pulled it off, in my view.

I’ve also noticed a lot of covers not showing correctly on my Home feed. Just over the past week or so. It’s not the blank, beige GR placeholder, but more of a ‘nothing’.

Last week I finally saw the movie of
Force of Nature (The Dry 2). I thought it was a fairly rare case of the movie improving upon the book, and the scenery was incredible.

In case you missed it, there's a book launch event coming up at Geelong Library on Saturday afternoon for
Confidence 2: Minds Shine Bright Anthology. All the details and ticketing links are over at

I’m pretty open during October although I’d suggest avoiding the day the clocks change 😝. It will be nice to see everyone before the silly season begins.

Sounds fantastic Amanda - see you there! I’m hoping to read
Confidence 2: Minds Shine Bright Anthology very soon.

AA
Malcolm Knox's latest novel,
The First Friend, won't be for everyone, but I found it darkly compelling.

I read
Names for the Sea: Strangers in Iceland for one of the annual challenges, for 'Reykjavik', and Reykjavik is what I got!

I am firmly on the
None of This Is True bandwagon! It was an exceptional audiobook experience.

Donal Ryan is fast becoming one of my favourite Irish authors.

As I’d already read it, I hadn’t planned on joining in this month, but when it was announced that Robbie Arnott had won a major Tasmanian writing prize for
Limberlost just a couple of weeks ago, I decided to do a quick audio re-read.
The audiobook is narrated by Zoe Carides, who can be hit and miss for me. Some of her younger voices and male voices were a bit irritating, but ignoring that I found it to be a delight all over again. Also, at around 7 hours, it was a very quick read!

The Perfect Passion Company by
Alexander McCall Smith was an enjoyable audiobook, despite the occasionally dubious Australian accent of one of the main characters! (She did a pretty good job 99% of the time)

Yeah but I read it was the first translated in English so figured it was okay to read as a standalone."Absolutely. I think it's a series in terms of themes, but not characters or plot.
