721 Although it's published tomorrow, The Oyster Diver's Secret is a little gem that's not due to be archived until 13 August, if anyone's interested.

721 The Oyster Diver's Secret, set in Sweden, was the perfect book to snuggle up with during last week's cold snap.

721 I probably didn't enjoy it as much as some readers in this Group, but I did really like the authenticity of the location and the details of Andy's day-to-day vet work. The scene where the elderly dog was euthanised had me in tears.

721 Jeffrey Archer's William Warwick series has been a fun one to listen to, although I thought #3 Turn a Blind Eye was a little weaker than others I've read so far.

1. KANGAROO.
In South Australia there is a beautiful place called Kangaroo Island where you can see kangaroos on the beach.
** Read a book set near a beach or with a beach on the cover.
Vroom by the Sea by Peter Moore 3★ (06/05/24)

Australia may have some of the worst poisonous creatures in the world but our apex predator is a wild dog! There are lots of them to be found on Fraser Island in Queensland.
** Read a book set in Queensland
Outback by Patricia Wolf 4★ (10/03/24)

3. KOOKABURRA
When a flock of these birds start laughing it is hard not to laugh with them. They are the noisy relations of the Kingfisher family but they prefer to eat lizards to fish. The Kookaburra is one of the emblems for NSW.
** Read a book set in New South Wales
The Greater Good by Tim Ayliffe 3★ (17/1/24)

4. KOALA.
These cuddly creatures spend about eighteen hours per day asleep in their eucalyptus trees. Even though they may look like a teddy, Koalas are not bears!
** Read a book which has trees on the cover.
Gone to Ground by Bronwyn Hall 3.5★ (26/1/24)

5. COCKATOO
The Gang Gang Cockatoo is an emblem of the Australian Capital Territory, which is the home of our capital city, Canberra.

Everyone on This Train Is a Suspect by Benjamin Stevenson (12/1/24) 4★

721 With Easter Island, you really do get what it says on the cover. Lots of fascinating detail wrapped around a dual-timeline mystery of sorts.

721 Krystal wrote: "Also, The Good Dog that you all seem to love looks to be a book #3 - do I need to read the first two? Because you've all got me curious now!"

Absolutely! But only because it’s an excellent series. The audiobook narrator is very good, and they average about 7-8 hours each, so very doable. I’ve found them all on Libby App.

721 Memorial Days is a new memoir by Geraldine Brooks, out in Feb 2025.
721 I see a certain common canine theme emerging here 😆 If anyone knows Simon Rowell, they should let him know!
721 Rowan wrote: "Thanks both Krystal and Phrynne. Certainly doesn't come across professional on their behalf. I'd heard about it happening to others - but didn't think it would happen to me.

Hi Rowan, sorry to hear that happened to you. Can I just clarify why the channel was Instagram? Presumably you publish or link reviews on that platform as well? The main reason I ask is because I had a suspicious new follow from an author today, and I don’t review there (although I do promote what I’m reading in Stories). Wondering if it might be an elaborate scam-flag.
