42178 Hi Tiffany. Welcome! :)

42178 Stress, yes, but I'm hoping that being organized will help to keep me reading. I'll know whats next instead of dithering and being indecisive - therefore I'll be less likely fall into a slump.

I chose the six specific series for this year because I know I want to read at least five of them. Only two are entirely new to me, and one of those is from a favored author. So I think I'm safe there.

I scheduled the novels, but not the bonus stories (which is why I've already goofed with The Turn), so if I finish a novel early, I can either read one of those or whichever book is next on my list.

I'm also teaching and taking two classes this semester so I will always be busy with something. :)

This is the first time I'm trying this method, so it could all blow up in my face, but I am hopeful.

As for Dead Witch Walking, if you are more comfortable reading it now, then please do. I don't remember all of the particulars, but I am familiar enough with the series to offer some discussion.

I'm giving myself this week (Today through Saturday) to read all of the prequels, and then I'll start Dead Witch Walking as soon as I can. The Sookie books are shorter than The Hollows books, so I might be able to make up time there.

Just a heads up... There are only one or two characters that I've met so far (I'm a little over halfway through) that will also be in the main series. This book was written after the series was ended, so I think it can be read at any point. I tend to prefer chronological order over publication order which is why I'm reading it now.

Did you want to do a book a month, every two weeks, what?

My schedule is set up to read a book every two weeks. I was going to start it today, but the prequel is longer than I thought when I made my schedule, so I have to push it back. I'm also reading the Sookie Stackhouse series as a buddy read (every two weeks), with the second book starting on the 14th.

If you're willing to wait a little bit, I can start Dead Witch Walking on the 21st.

42178 I am currently reading The Turn: The Hollows Begins with Death ( The Turn The Hollows Begins with Death (The Hollows #0.1) by Kim Harrison ) and it's driving me nuts. The Turn is the first of three prequels to The Hollows.

The main protagonist is frustratingly ineffective, while the main antagonist is criminally insecure, narcissistic, petty, etc.

What keeps me reading is the fact that I enjoyed the first seven novels of the series. This prequel gives us background on the turn which is the event that led the Inderlanders (Supernatural Folk) to "come out" to humans. It also gives us background about the parents of one of the main characters in the series.

42178 Hoping others will join me in discussing The Hollows series.

42178 This is the place to start a thread:

- If you have a particular book or series that you want to discuss.
- If you want to host a buddy-read with other members of the group.

42178 Hi Ga, :)

I didn't have a set goal last year. I wanted to see how I did.

That being said, I didn't do well. Looooong reading droughts and a challenging semester at school kind of knocked reading for pleasure out of me.

A better year would have included completing or catch up on the Rivers of Lindon series, which I did enjoy. The Others series was great too, but the 5th book is more than I'm willing to pay for an ebook.

I am happy that I finally read American Gods. It was on my TBR for a while, and this was the second attempt.
I can see reading more Neil Gaiman in the future. I've added Anansi Boys to my Wishlist.

I had a few misses towards of the end of the year - trouble concentrating. I'm glad I rediscovered the Flirt! short story collections. They were silly, sappy, and sweet, and I was reading again, so it was worth it.

So, while I didn't read a lot (or at least not nearly as much as I would have liked), I did like most of what I did read.

Reminds me of another cover I've seen. I thought it was the same, but it's just similar. I haven't read it, but I think the cover was cool."

Thank you, Marte. :)

I prefer the original cover for Dead Until Dark Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) by Charlaine Harris because it matches the others in my boxed set. The art changes some after book eight but is still better than the media-tie-in cover in my post.

I had lent my boxed set to a friend whose husband isn't very careful with books, so she replaced the collection for me, but the first book had the TV cover.
