35559 Hi Everyone! I'm Sanskriti, or Sanz for short :)

I have quite a few books on my TBR and I'm not sure yet what I'll kick off with. What I love about this edition of TT challenge is that it will take us around the world! I LOVE to read books from different countries so this should work out well for me.

Looking forward to getting to know you all over the next few months!

35559 I've just logged my last book for the game!
Nov 15, 2024 03:40AM

35559 I just logged Memoirs of a Geisha in the tracker.

I'm traveling the next few days... attending a friend's wedding. I won't be checking into the group but will try and keep the tracker updated – at least with the book title and date read if I can. Anway I should be back online on Wednesday so I'll be back in plenty of time to update my progress before the round ends :)

35559 Captain/co-captains, could you please add a timer for UTC +5.30 which is my timezone for India to the tracking sheet? Just so that I don't confuse the end time. Thanks!

35559 I'm still reading A Clash of Kings and I'm pretty sure I'll finish it before the deadline. I'll update it on the sheet as soon as I do!

35559 I am from Mumbai, India and I work as a freelance marketing consultant so I have hectic Mondays–Fridays. But reading has always been a solace and escape for me and I never go to bed without getting at least a few pages read.

I used to be able to read more when I was younger but now I'm content if I can finish a book a week. Although to be honest, this year I have been in a slump for several weeks at a time, several times!

I'm currently reading A Clash of Kings and I'm sure I can get it to fit in for some mini-challenge task.

35559 Hi team! I'm Sanz and I'm so glad to be joining you guys!

I'm always excited to do team challenges as I get so much more reading done during these games and of course, get to know other book lovers.

I'll be using this shelf wheel-of-life-2024 for parking my reads for this challenge.

35559 Hello hello team!

I have been MIA for a few weeks now, but been reading and logging my books on the spreadsheet. I am eternally confused by the minis, so happy to see Erin keeping track of my books and seeing what fits where :)

I can't believe we are in the last 15 days of the challenge. I always manage to read more during group challenges and this one was particularly helpful for me because it got me out of a major reading slump.

Hoping to get some more books logged over the weekend!

35559 I haven't been around for a few days. I'm now sitting and catching up on this thread. So happy to see we are currently ranking 4 in this round!

I finished reading The Hunger Games just in time for it to count for the buddy read. Not sure if I'll complete anything else before the round 1 deadline is up, but I do have a few books going so I'm hoping to finish something by Sunday night.
35559 I'm amazed that despite the fact that I've read the book twice before, there was so much I had forgotten! The tracker jackers, Peeta teaming up with the Careers, and even the mutts at the end! How could such details just slip away so easily? Goes on to show, a reread brings in a more deeper appreciation of not just the plot or the character arcs, but the writer's style as well.
35559 I felt the best moments of the book were between Katniss and Rue. Something about their partnership felt odd, Rue being smaller than other tributes, and yet, it felt natural. Of course, Katniss ended up thinking of Rue in terms of her sister Prim and being protective of her, but the strategy that emerged from the two teaming up goes on to show that no matter how "small" someone might look, you never know how much of an impact they could have until you collaborate with them.
35559 Katie wrote: "It's more frustrating on the rereads to see how, even though Katniss is amazing at understanding Hunger Games strategy and even some of the motivations of the other players, she still is so terribl..."

I had this exact same thought! I read Hunger Games for the third time and realized that I really don't like Katniss much. She assumes the worst of Peeta constantly, right until the very end, even though she has no reason to – he has always helped her, even back in District 12 with the bread incident. I get her psyche, she comes with a history of having to struggle for food. And yet, I thought that would make her warm up to Peeta more because he belonged to same district.

Also, at the start of the Games I thought the two of them would naturally team up, but they don't. In fact, I found it jarring that Collins didn't end up describing why Peeta teamed up with the Career tributes in the first place, and why they let him. It would have helped to flesh out Peeta's character a bit more.
