Word: VIOLA POMPOSA
Color Red (50% or more) - 5 bonus points each, maximum of 5 books

Round 3 Bonus For this round, find musical instruments on the cover of your books (any instrument, just has to be obviously an instrument)

Each found instrument will earn an additional 5 bonus points. Only one instrument per book cover and a maximum of 10 bonus instruments. You can find the same instrument multiple times (not least because no one's got time to decide if it's a violin or viola etc etc)

Note to players: any changes to the standard bonus rules, similar to what was done for Round 2, will not be determined until after the results of Round 2 and the mods see the point spread between teams. A lot can change from round to round.

Team Q&A
1. Do we need to link books on the spreadsheet?
It's fine to just put in the book title & author for the spreadsheet without linking.

2. Do we need to record letters that aren't in our word?
Nope! Although for the author, it's nice to have that entered so we get the correct book. I was being an overachiever when I put in my three planned books, but it'd probably be easier to just have letters in the SS we can actually use - so I'm glad you asked this!

3. Bonus books - do they have to work for the word?
Yes, we'll have to use them somewhere as a letter in the word.

4. Bonus books - for the word list can we use a word more than once?
Yes, so if we use guitar (for example) 10 times, that's no problem.

5. What editions do we use?
We are supposed to use the edition we are reading for page numbers and color covers. That can be a beast if you're on the app so just do your best - we go for the default page numbers a lot because all editions don't have those numbers listed. But be sure if you are reading for a color cover it's the book you actually read/have on your shelf.

I have a weird question - IF there is a captain's group, and IF I'm in it, should I have received an invite? I'm also fine being a non-captain, but I don't want to be a missing person :)

There will be others Kirsten! I didn't do wheel last year - I 100% understand about being over-challenged :)

I think either way works. I just said something like "I'd really love to have my Ashara teammates that are playing". But it MIGHT be easier for them if you just name me.

No pressure either way! If you want to join and not feel pressured, put a low # of books on your signup and plan on reading just that number and not more :). But it's perfectly ok to focus on other challenges - both in Goodreads and in life!

You'll be missed Janeylou! But we'll all be watching for you from now on :)

I know they try to balance TT and other challenges, but it seems like when we sign up for challenges here, in comments we can make special requests - and then maybe just see what happens. It's sure worth a try!
Knowing NBRC, they often have a fall challenge, so maybe we can test it then :)

August threw me for a loop - camping, grandkids, helping my dad, helping my sister after my brother in law had a stroke - just all the things! I miss you guys - this was such a fun group! I want to do it again with all of you!

I can't believe how much everyone read the last two weeks, and especially the last few days - win or lose, there's no way we could have done more!

And I'm pretty sure the other teams lost readers along the way - Kudos to all of you for sticking with it the whole challenge and being SO responsible. If you look at our team list - if any one of you had stepped out, we wouldn't be in first place. So thank you!!

I think I mentioned before, but Murderbot is my literary alter-ego. Except I guess I want to read books instead of watch shows :)

Leslie - we have such similar taste in books. I for sure need to check out A Long Walk to Water.

Elinor - I love Orphan X and am anxiously waiting for the next one. And Nanci - I WISH The Elephant Whisperer had been available in my library when I read Zoo instead. But I have Whisperer on hold :) (I thought Zoo was dumb by the way - I was rooting for the animals to kill all the idiotic people.)

I read a bunch of novellas this week set in "The Chronicles of St Mary's" series. They reminded me to get back to this series!
It starts with Just One Damned Thing After Another - it's time travel and quite funny

The Queen’s Price (I have an unreasonable love for Anne Bishop. Although, if you haven't read her books, I'd start with "The Others" series.)
