Kari - so glad you noticed that - I was concentrating on the instruments and just forgot to mark them. It's nice to have many eyes looking - thanks!
Oh, and note: we may get more than 5 white covers this round. That's fine - we won't get the extra points for more than 5, but it doesn't hurt to overachieve (and always nice to have backups).

How nice to be outside while you can! And combined with reading - even better :)
I LOVE the description of a book as "adult zootopia". love, love, love.

Nanci - I love that goal to visit all of the national parks! They gave me a National Parks book when I retired - I think I'm going to start marking it up with comments.

That sounds so enjoyable Cordelia! I hope you love the book!
And Amanda and Kari - way to get us started :)

It can be hard to choose! I mostly look at "what do I feel like" then try to be sure that at least one letter of "Synthesizer" is in it (first letter of title/series, author initials, major character initials, narrator/translator). I hope you find something you love!

It's so hard to remember that rule with the different challenges! But at least after this start time we can just worry about finish dates.

(And I would say as far as cover - to me it looks like the background has both white and gray. It's strange that tin-eye didn't pick up any of the white.)

Books have to be started after the countdown (start of the challenge). BUT, if you started one now and didn't finish it until round 2, we could count it for round 2.
Note: I really like Mercy Thompson.

Hooray - it's go time! Have fun reading (and doing all the things) everyone!

Well the biggest rule is that we have fun with each other. We'll take whatever books people can read, and if there are slow weeks for someone, that's ok too! Life does that.

Yup - Bobbi is right. They went through a time where we couldn't go over a certain number, but that isn't happening now. I agree - it's hard to guess # of books for challenges. If we had a crystal ball and could foresee what life was going to hand to us it'd be a lot easier.

Thanks for checking in Lindsay! I'm sure excited to start later today. I guess this morning I'll try to be industrious so I get a chance to read later!

Ah Janine :) So I guess for you the start is Sunday :)
And awesome! It's so cool we have another player! Hello Lindsay!

Countdown timer:
https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...It's also at the start of the thread.
Note: The start is Saturday afternoon for me (US Mountain) so be sure to check when it is for you.

Oh boy just 1.5 more days! I'm on my way home- finally have internet! I'll put in a countdown timer when I get home.

Thanks all! And Cordelia that's amazing to even SEE a book that old much less touch it. wow!

It's great to be playing with a bunch of challenge addicts :)
We are leaving today for Yellowstone - will be back on Thursday. If I'm quiet it is because I won't always have a phone connection. But should be lovely up there! And I'll be here for the start of wheels.

Wow what a lot of great white covers you all have found! That's awesome!
Thanks for signing up for the BOM questions too Nanci. I too hope the book is more funny than horror. I've certainly expanded my genres since doing challenges.
I'm doing Turf Wars, Life, and this one as far as current challenges. There are so many more that tempt me but I've tried to resist :) I agree it really could be nice if rules were the same.
I spent the day at my Dad's house - it's about a 2.5 hour drive each way. He decided not to go to Yellowstone with us, which I totally understand, as with the dementia it is stressful for him to live out of the familiar house. Poor guy. But it was wonderful spending the day with him and my brother/sister-in-law.

Hi Bobbi and Cordelia! Wow - everyone has checked in on the first day we are open - that wonderful! Thanks so much! I hope we all have a fantastic time!
