35559 You'll be missed Janeylou! But we'll all be watching for you from now on :)

35559 I know they try to balance TT and other challenges, but it seems like when we sign up for challenges here, in comments we can make special requests - and then maybe just see what happens. It's sure worth a try!
Knowing NBRC, they often have a fall challenge, so maybe we can test it then :)

35559 August threw me for a loop - camping, grandkids, helping my dad, helping my sister after my brother in law had a stroke - just all the things! I miss you guys - this was such a fun group! I want to do it again with all of you!

35559 I haven't seen anything official yet - but it looks positive :)

35559 I can't believe how much everyone read the last two weeks, and especially the last few days - win or lose, there's no way we could have done more!

And I'm pretty sure the other teams lost readers along the way - Kudos to all of you for sticking with it the whole challenge and being SO responsible. If you look at our team list - if any one of you had stepped out, we wouldn't be in first place. So thank you!!

35559 I think I mentioned before, but Murderbot is my literary alter-ego. Except I guess I want to read books instead of watch shows :)

35559 Leslie - we have such similar taste in books. I for sure need to check out A Long Walk to Water.

Elinor - I love Orphan X and am anxiously waiting for the next one. And Nanci - I WISH The Elephant Whisperer had been available in my library when I read Zoo instead. But I have Whisperer on hold :) (I thought Zoo was dumb by the way - I was rooting for the animals to kill all the idiotic people.)

35559 Thanks Tone! I'll make sure The New Guy is in there.

And I love the book list :)

35559 Here were my favorite challenge books:

I read a bunch of novellas this week set in "The Chronicles of St Mary's" series. They reminded me to get back to this series!
It starts with Just One Damned Thing After Another - it's time travel and quite funny
Mark Twain's Helpful Hints for Good Living: A Handbook for the Damned Human Race
The Queen’s Price (I have an unreasonable love for Anne Bishop. Although, if you haven't read her books, I'd start with "The Others" series.)
Identity
The Ferryman
Bright Lights, Big Christmas

35559 You all were so great - thank you! The coordination was fantastic, and I think (which is a rare thing) that every single person contributed a bunch, was responsible, didn't need reminding, and stuck it through for the entire challenge. But what I loved the most was the positive attitudes!

I felt really lucky to have Lisa and Shannon who know so much about spreadsheets to co-captain. And my "ray of sunshine" co-captain Nanci - always so willing to bounce ideas off of. I've seen you on other teams during various challenges and always wished you were on mine - so glad you were on this one!

This next two months I'm doing a one book a week challenge (one of the Game Night ones - the Game of Life - Space version) - with a group of people I met on one of my first tower teams. This game really does build lasting friendships! And I tell myself I'll get to play with you all again because - if I don't I'd be too sad!

Great idea to list favorite challenge books! I'll add mine in the next post.

35559 Ok - I have everything updated and moved to the official spreadsheet. If anyone finishes another book, just be sure it's done before the countdown:
https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...
And note it on the planning sheet.

I don't know for sure how it will end up, but boy the sheer number of books read this past week is stunning. And even more stunning was the coordination fitting so many tasks.

Thanks so much everyone! What a fun ride this has been!

35559 Nope - you did it with 3 hours to spare Jen - thanks!

And Vi - wow so many pages in such a short time! That's incredible.

Apoorv - you had so many insights that helped out the team - thank you :)

35559 And yes - if it works for luggage that is fantastic! Although I MAY end up moving things around. Thanks Shannon :)

35559 Thanks Kirsten - I hope you enjoy the conference and your non-assigned reading!! And thanks Elinor! You are all so awesome. I look at the countdown and feel sad, although I could not keep up this reading pace for too long :)

35559 Elinor and Jackie - for now, just note they work for both - I'll use where we get the most points. It's SO helpful those books work for both!
