35559 I put the Round 3 planning sheet in. I'm going to try to read the Book of the Month Violin Conspiracy round 3 (even though it'll mostly be discussed next round) because it's red and in the captain's group they said yes to instrument on the cover.
Although if we end up having plenty of those bonuses, I'll wait and read it last of the month :)

That's great to have an instrument book all figured out already!

Also, just FYI, my DQs are up."

It's totally up to you about holding off vs. finishing - I think X is a harder one to cover than V, but either way we will happily use it!

I have about one more chapter to finish on Starter Villain and then I can answer the day 1 questions - yay!

35559 There isn't any disadvantage to the longer words - I wondered the same thing! But we basically only get book points, not points for finishing words. The only reason it is important to finish words is that we can only have one unfinished word at the end.

35559 I fixed it to say "start of round 3/ end of round 2". Round 3 starts right when round 2 ends.

35559 I suspect we will end this round with a pretty high placement because you are all doing such an excellent job reading. So I doubt our bonuses will change - but I could be surprised!

The last month I have read so many books with "V". Now watch and I won't be able to find any :)

Word: VIOLA POMPOSA
Color Red (50% or more) - 5 bonus points each, maximum of 5 books

Round 2 Bonus For this round, find musical instruments on the cover of your books (any instrument, just has to be obviously an instrument)

Each found instrument will earn an additional 5 bonus points. Only one instrument per book cover and a maximum of 10 bonus instruments. You can find the same instrument multiple times (not least because no one's got time to decide if it's a violin or viola etc etc)

Note to players: any changes to the standard bonus rules, similar to what was done for Round 2, will not be determined until after the results of Round 2 and the mods see the point spread between teams. A lot can change from round to round.

Thanks Janeylou! I wasn't worried about them other than not wanting you to feel pressured.

Nanci - hooray for another Y!

35559 Here is the countdown timer for the end of the round:

It's going well.

@Janeylou - are you still ok with those location books or do you need help? Just speak up if you need someone else to read for a location.

We got lots of X's from Annalisa - thank you so much! I can add more words at the end of our sheet if we end up needing them (I'm guessing we will).

Keep reading all of the things, everyone. And keep a special eye out for Y's and O's at the moment. But any letter in XYLOPHONE helps!

35559 as long as you can read it within a month of the group it counts. looks like a fast read!

35559 Oh hmm...I found a long review that mentions the Hera, so we can use it for this week's word too.

35559 Starter Villain by John Scalzi book of the month starts this Thursday. I'm going to hold off finishing it until next week, in hopes that it has a letter that will fit our upcoming spellout (which we don't know yet). Bobbi - if you see a letter in it that will fit Xylophone then let us know :) I'm only going from book description, so there may well be something.

35559 I have an X I'm listening to, but it's kind of long so may take me a good part of the week. And a Y I'll start tomorrow which will hopefully be fairly fast.

35559 I too am amazed! We are currently (barely) in first place! I think we are close enough to some other teams that it all comes down to who has updated the official sheet most recently :) But well done!

35559 Haha about the "Lollipop" book Nanci! That gave me a good chuckle.
Cordelia no worries. you should read what/ when makes you happy! otherwise challenges are unsustainable. I hope you have a wonderful cozy day.

35559 haha my brain is often fuzzy without any anesthesia help! there are so many rules in this challenge so it's great to have a team like this who helps us stay on the right track:)

35559 I'm in Arizona until Monday morning. I won't be able to update the spreadsheet but I'll be able to read! Luckily Nanci is great at updating and also the round doesn't end for another week. We are doing great so far!

35559 Oh nope we just need 5 white covers. I really love having a couple extras though just in case anyone questions one of ours not being white enough. although nobody ever has :). But for whatever reason that still feels good to me.
