35559 ok, done with my group 1 book, will probably start my book for group 2 later tonight but don't think i will finish it until tomorrow night

35559 wonder if it will just be 7 weeks then. that would stop it from getting too close to christmas ...

35559 mine for group 1 is honestly not very engaging either, at least it's short -_-;

35559 i think it is picking up the area where the yellow letters blend into the blue background as a small amount of that green color so i personally wouldn't count it. i think it's only happening because that image is blurry and in a clearer image it wouldn't show up at all

35559 i probably won't be done til tonight [maybe 8ish hours] but it all depends on how work goes lol. and christine has two that she has to finish, unless you feel like taking over her other letter since you're almost done.

35559 yeah we definitely got our butts in gear for that! although i picked pretty short books lol i think even all together my three books were still about 100 pages shorter than your one ;)
35559 there's really nothing wrong with him and honestly he has a very generic american man narrator voice so i probably wouldn't have even noticed if he hadn't said it at the beginning but when he did i was like WHY ARE YOU FOLLOWING ME lol
Aug 27, 2019 05:39PM

35559 i just finished mine as well so once nicole finishes hers we can start the next stage. also remember that we need THREE books that were previous BOMs or read by another team now since we upgraded our level. i have two potential BOM books for I so hopefully i will end up liking one of them enough to read the whole thing lol

35559 how is everyone doing with their countdown books? i should be done with my last one sometime within the next 13 hours [aka bedtime for my time zone lol] but i've got some middle grade ARCs i can work on if i need to wait for people to catch up before moving to stage 1

35559 i have several new books and sequels i'm hoping to read this week with O in them so i guess we could do several you's if you guys want lol i'll run the numbers later and see which words we should take out to do a couple more yous. i guess we can do 3 all together and that doesn't seem so bad. i can take at least 2 of the O's and 1 or 2 Y's
Aug 26, 2019 07:16PM

35559 yeah we can see how it looks later in the week i guess. and i am not in so deep that i feel like making a separate group to hide our ~secret plans~ lol besides i feel like we are pretty much planning for the maximum amount of points we can get without doing things like spelling in / on / you multiple times, which we have all agreed is no fun. but we could probably squeeze out two you's if we wanted

35559 i would say that a laptop has the potential to be hot but that hot is not its default state [unless it is very old lol]. and really almost everything has the potential to be hot if you set it on fire so that is kind of a slippery slope ;)
Aug 26, 2019 12:15PM

35559 yeah me too, i have several Ys and Os but no Us to speak of
Aug 26, 2019 12:01PM

35559 also i know we've got awhile to decide but we have to pick words to spell out for the additional books we will be reading.

maybe:

written 7
any 3
would 5
scifi 5

or we could just spell you 500 times since it's on there a lot buuuuut i feel like that would stop being fun very quickly lol

35559 yeah i didn't participate in quidditch but it looked like a very stressful thing lol. i was in slytherin and i think we scored literally one goal in 3 matches, but we finished the maze first so at least we won something ;)
35559 i think the writer / publisher is american so that is probably why, although the story itself is still set in geneva so yeah you would think they would go for like 'default british' at least if they weren't going to do something more accurate to the area

35559 podcasts i am ok listening at normal speed because i feel like people generally use more of a natural speaking voice for that rather than a 'narrating' voice where i think people tend to speak more slowly.

but yeah i don't know how people listen at 3x, that is more like skimming to me and i don't process much of the information that way. i don't ever go faster than 2x and even then that is rare - generally if its a book i have read many times so i know what is happening or just that rare narrator that talks even slower than normal
Aug 26, 2019 08:38AM

35559 haha i know, my roommate is like what on earth is that and i'm like listen ...my brain doesn't go that slow
Aug 26, 2019 08:19AM

35559 i almost always listen to audio books at 1.5-2x speed. sometimes a british narrator will talk fast enough that i don't feel the need to speed it up but most audio narrators i feel like i'm listening to some speak underwater if i listen to at normal speed lol

i think probably just adding the page number in parenthesis like you did will be good - if we end up needing the ladder at all. although if someone wants to try to add a new column they can. i'd be afraid i'd mess the whole thing up but i guess that is what the undo button is for
35559 hope you have a good time rereading the last october daye book this week claudia!

yesterday i was listening to an audio book of a book that i had read before and it started up and was like 'narrated by luke daniels' and i audibly groaned lol. i don't even hate the guy as a narrator but also now i will always associate him with this series which isn't necessarily great. also it was a frankenstein retelling so i was like ??? why did you get a narrator with an american accent? i know he can do other accents but he didn't in this other book so it was weird.
