35559 are any of them for past BOMs or have you checked yet? i'm sure i can do one for that stage as well, just figured i would wait and look at the BOM list to see what was on there
35559 well i finished today, gonna have to give some serious consideration to whether i want to continue going with the series at a later date. this review sums up my feelings about the book pretty well i think. while there are definitely a lot more female characters than male ones in this book, most of the female characters are not taken seriously at all and are either constantly trying to sleep with atticus or are being constantly described by him only in terms of how sexy they are. [sigh] sorry guys, this might just be a miss for me.

35559 @Sophie that's fine, i just wanted to make sure since it wasn't listed on the spreadsheet yet. work has been busier than expected today so i'm not done with my last R book yet either

and yeah just reading in and on was not a tactic i had considered either but i like to have a good balance of fun and tactics and like we've all said, reading only those letters sounds like a nightmare to me. i'll see if i have anything for Y later as there seem to be a lot of those.

i'm guessing we want to do all 3 safezone stages this time since they added bonus points to stage 1? the stage 2 tasks look more difficult than last time to me but if we can find books that fit they are good for a large number of points.

35559 haha yeah i took a look at the standings sheet earlier and saw we were in the lead. i know it's just the beginning but that has never happened to me in a challenge before ;)

35559 also is someone actually reading for our last R book? i know we have like 5 days for someone to finish a single book but just to double check lol

35559 this is the list they have linked to the side of the spreadsheet so i would probably use that one to be safe. i don't know if it has to be from the 2018 one or if any year will do though?

and i don't think we need to regenerate because we didn't lose any points [or at least they didn't tell us that we did lol]

35559 you and written would be good words to use as well

y 50 o 40 u 50 = 140

w 40 r 30 i 40 t 30 t 30 e 30 n 40 = 240

also with

w 40 i 40 t 30 h 30 = 140

and any

a 30 n 40 y 50 = 110

35559 for me it would get so boring just spelling in or on over and over again but i guess if we do need something short we could do it a few times lol but i liked that we had a lot of different letters to choose from for this round.

35559 that sounds right, i added mine and sophie's names to the spreadsheet on those tasks. do we want to just use the final spreadsheet this week? it seemed kind of pointless to me to keep copying stuff over when we never actually changed anything, we didn't even switch around any of our letters for spell it out. but if we do want to use the planning one then i think someone needs to copy over the new tab somehow.

35559 haha i guess i should run some covers through it when i get home but i have several that LOOK black so i'm assuming one of them will agree with it
Aug 21, 2019 09:06AM

35559 also for whoever is doing #2 i'm not sure if they literally mean a black author who is also american or are just using african american to mean black in general - like there are a lot of popular SFF books by african authors now - but if you were planning on doing something by an african author then i would probably ask in the questions thread to clarify.

35559 i'll take 6 7 and 8 if that's okay with everyone. i noticed neither of you mentioned 7 in your lists lol
Aug 21, 2019 08:48AM

35559 yeah i am good to read 3 of them although i'm not sure which 3 yet lol
Aug 21, 2019 08:36AM

35559 i guess doing safezone one wouldn't be too much trouble, there have been a ton of BoMs here so even if we don't want to creep on other team's threads for books they have read we'd probably have pretty good selection from BoMs alone.
35559 ok sounds good. like i said i will probably be continuing this series eventually but idk if i will be a good buddy read participant since i am just rolling my eyes too much at this point lol
Aug 21, 2019 05:03AM

35559 i should be finishing both of my books today, and i think someone else said they were starting something for the R even though it's not on the sheet yet so we should be good

also did everyone see the stuff about regaining points? i guess we don't have to worry about it yet but i'm not sure i entirely understand it. like what constitutes a 'ladder of books' for one thing?
35559 anyway i think i spoke too soon bc i just finished chapter 14 and i think i officially need A Break from this series after this book lol #sorry
35559 i think i'm around chapter 14 or so. and i agree that it is a bit weird considering his age. that whole scene where granuaile was in her nighty had me rolling my eyes so much and also how he always starts talking about baseball i'm like lmao could you be anymore of a stereotype if you tried? also and i think this might be just a chapter or so after where you are now but (view spoiler). but then slightly later the morrigan is just chilling out naked again and he's like 'it's kind of nice to not have to deal with american views on morality' or something and i'm like ???? but you have a minor meltdown if you see a woman in her underwear???

i promise i don't actually hate him OR these books but that's just like my biggest pet peeve honestly. the parts with coyote made me laugh though and also the parts with laksha [sp?]. i think this might be one of those series where i like the side characters more than the main. not that i necessarily have anything against atticus but like you said he's 2000 years old so maybe act like it on occasion. i do find that very few authors actually write immortal characters in what i consider a realistic way though.

35559 also if you can add a link to the killing habit that will help when we transfer the books over to the final sheet. i assume it's the first option that comes up when you type it into goodreads but i didn't want to link that one in case i was wrong.

35559 i would rather stay where we are unless everyone else wants to bump up a level. i find that as challenges go on my reading tends to get slower so i don't think we will always finish this early and also each level is 20 books more than the previous one so i wouldn't really want to go up unless we think we are going to read at least close to 20 more books in the remaining days. i'd rather take 4 or 5 days to read whatever i want but if you all want to keep spelling then i'm sure i can contribute a few more books.
