yeah i'm sure janet has been telling gillian bad things about october for ages which i'm sure isn't helping. and that's a good point about her not aging. i figured october probably aged her disguise as the years passed but janet doesn't have any magic so i wonder how long she will be able to keep this up. i feel like surely cliff has to find everything out before too long. there's just so much going on and now with gillian going full fae as well i feel like he has to stumble onto sooner or later. i wonder how he will feel about all of them lying to him if that happens.

i also wish more authors would just do a quick recap before the actual book because i agree it's so awkward and time consuming to do it in the actual book. mark lawrence did that with his book of the ancestor series and i appreciated it sooo much. \

i give gillian a little more leeway than janet just because she is still so young [even if she is a technical adult] and she's clearly going through some stuff but yeah i do no get why they are constantly attacking october. i get maybe being awkward around her or something and even not necessarily wanting to call her mom, but october is obviously trying to rebuild their relationship and both gillian and janet are being so standoffish. also it's still just soooo weird to me that her grandmother is with her ex-boyfriend lmao but i guess it's almost the least weird thing going on.

up through chapter nine now. gotta say a lot of people are coming across as very petty in this book lol. like the luidaeg (view spoiler)[i get that she's still upset about the roane but it seems ridiculous that she continues to take it out on people who had nothing to do with it. although i guess she can't take it out on evening so she's probably just lashing out. but she could have just told the selkies to pass the skins to their children if they wanted to and instead she's like 'ok y'all can just kill each other now i totally don't care'. love toby being all protective of gillian though (hide spoiler)]

started this morning! how fast i make progress will depend on how much actual work i have to do at work today lol

only four chapters in but definitely very interested to see what happens with all this selkie business. also i know it's not really her fault but i still cannot stand janet. i guess she's hated october for a very long time but you'd think now that she knows she was wrong about the whole situation she could TRY to be a little bit nicer to her instead of being so antagonistic all the time. i'm hoping gillian comes around a little bit since she'll be spending time with october now.

definitely. i've not been reading as much the past few days because i decided to catch up on preacher but if i can stay mostly away from fanfic i should be picking back up again lol

well we were really i think 12-15 hours after the halfway point by then, but we are very close. like right now i think we're just two hours short of 6 days left and we're at 34 so technically 1 book behind, but like i said still really close.

@Nari not sure if you know already but this is book 13 in a series so i really would not recommend starting here, but it is a very good series :)

@Cathy not sure if i'm gonna start this tomorrow or wednesday but i think i'm leaning more towards wed

yeah we have until what is for me monday morning at 7am but not sure what time that is for everyone else. we are just sliiiightly behind schedule now but i think overall we're doing pretty well. not sure we really should have moved up at this point but at least we can read short books for this lol. and no matter what happens we can't be lower than 2nd place ;) i should be able to do another Y book as the one i read today is part of a series and i really liked it.

yeah i figured any page counts ending in 1 or 0 would be able to go at the end of the chain but obviously not before

spent a lot of time in the car today on the way to and from the cincinnati art museum but i convinced my friend to listen to the BBC 4 radio drama version of good omens while we drove so i can count that towards the challenge ;)

my question was if there is no print version with a page count to use, then what do we do

@Jen I would like to know the answer to this as well. I've been penciling in some ladders even though we don't need them yet but if we have to separate countdown and safezone or not use countdown at all then I'll definitely have to move some stuff around.

also if there is a book that is audio only how would if use it with a ladder? for example the goodreads page says 'audio 20 pages' so would i use 2 and 0? or since it is 7 hr 19 min per audible could i use 7 and 9? or just don't use it in a ladder at all?

i'm about an hour away from finishing my book for group 2. how's everyone else doing?

haha yeah the bonus points were why we decided to do it this round since otherwise it would have only been 30 each

i was done with group 1, i was talking about my book for group 2

are there going to be a lesser number of points for informal buddy reads again as well or was that just something you guys were trying out for last year's tower teams? it was my first one so i wasn't sure how much was the same every year and how much changes.
