Remember actual film? And parents yelling at us not to waste film, to take only good pictures? Love the digital age...

I am really enjoying The Friday Night Knitting Club so far! Well-developed characterization, strong women, cute young girl, Manhattan setting -- and I'm only on chapter 4! I'm reading it as part of a 'TBR Twins' challenge with another group. They pair you up with someone who has similar tastes. Then you compare your TBR lists, chose a book, discuss it privately then come back and summarize for the entire group. I really like my partner so I definitely think I'll be doing this monthly.

2) Of all the books you've read, what character have you related to most?
Harriet the Spy! I always used to imagine being Harriet living in New York... I'd force my friends to pretend to play her games in elementary school.
3) which new release?
I have no idea! I really don't pay attention...
4) what book did you put down a few times only to end up later rating it a 5?
None! The closest I'll come was The Cookbook Collector which I rated 4 stars. It was good, but kinda all over the place.
5) What is your favorite genre & your favorite author from that genre?
Right now it's gotta be mystery. I love Janet Evanovich, Leslie Meier and Joanne Fluke most of all.
6) What book/genre/author would you never read? Why?
Moby Dick! I have never successfully finished it and have given it up as a total loss. The man uses no punctuation! Here's another confession: I have been slogging through Emma for over a year. I'm determined to finish, but the language is killing me!
7) If it were possible, which book would you like to spend some time in?
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone where they were still young an innocent. I really want to visit Universal!
8) What is you favorite classical book?
To Kill a Mockingbird, hands down.
9) Which genre do you wish you read more of?
Historical fiction, definitely. It was always a favorite, but chick-lit and mysteries are much more brain candy-ish!
NEW Question:
What new-to-you author are you dying to try next?

I started reading the 'Left Behind' series, but got stuck on Apollyon. I still hope to finish someday... As for Bible study, I've read through the Bible ( many different versions) several times, but never did formal study. I converted to Catholicism in 2006. There's a joke the Catholics don't do Bible study, we just wait for Father to give us a book report every Sunday. Lame, that joke may be, but I notice that Catholics don't seem to do as much Bible study as other denominations!

Right now I'm working on Cozy Mystery Travel Bingo - 1st week's category cruise. So I'm reading Cooks Overboard. Just started a Buddy Read The Friday Night Knitting Club. Am trying to finish up Torment for a different Bingo game. Hopefully I'll get some beach time in either Saturday or Sunday...

Sookie? As in Stackhouse? Love that series! Am only watching Trueblood now on Netflix... Not as good as the books, but when are they ever? Kitty does NOT look happy in that sweater...

Oh, Margaret! A week at Disneyland right now would be a dream come true!! We may have an opportunity to go for a couple of days in July. (**fingers are crossed!**) the longest we ever went was 14 straight days spent on the property when my son was little. We had more disposable income back then & lots of credit cards. We had the best time!

It looks like the gang's all present and accounted for! Also looks like we're the only ones still awake! It's 11pm here -- I don't even wanna think about what time it must be in Florida!

How many challenges have you participated in and which was your favorite? Have you been on any winning teams?
So far I've done UNO, a few Bingo games, lots of individual challenges, I did AMMP's Spring Carnival. My first team was Around the World right here on NBRC. My team, the Wandering Bibliophiles, was so chatty, fun & helpful, I decided to stay on! We do miss Karen in Business Class, though...
I have no idea if any of my teams ever won! I just had so much fun playing.
Any pets?
Sadly, no. Our building doesn't allow pets. If I could, I'd have a dog & cat or 2...
Fav spot in the world?
Disneyland! Don't laugh! Particularly New Orleans Square...
Where in the world would you visit if you had the money & time?
Europe, particularly Paris & Tuscany.
2016 book goal?
86 of 140 books today. 25 books ahead of schedule! Last year I was 4 books short of my 140 book goal, so I didn't change it this year. But it's looking good so far!

Love, love, LOVE the Stephanie Plum series! I hope it never ends! Just finished Takedown Twenty. Because they're so funny, I usually save them up for vacation time. :)

That sounds so cool, Cecily! We didn't have anything like that here. Friends and family quickly learned not to pledge $1.00 per book for my annual MS Read-a-Thons, though!

You go, girl! Just curious... How much is your overdue fine per day? Our is just 25 cents per day, so sometimes I keep them a bit over. All fines go directly into the library system, so in a way I feel like I'm helping out :)

Nanci, this is why I love GoodReads so much! I don't feel like such a freak here! I simply cannot stand people who say things like, "Books? Why would anyone want to read books?" And I know so many of them! I feel so much more at home here.

Hi Jennifer! Great to see you here!

I definitely know that aha! moment, Nanci. I tutored reading students from the time I was in 3rd grade on. As an adult I tutored all subjects up to 6th grade and English up to 12th grade. I am a math retard so didn't feel confident going past elementary students. (Looonnnnggg story!) most children are just seeking approval an encouragement that their parents can't give them. Whenever I discovered an actual learning disability, I'd make sure the received proper help...

Too funny, Marguerite! I guess Hawaii was more progressive back in the 60s. I started Kinder in 1967 and could already read. I was a huge disruption because I was so bored! We had like 36+ children per class, so the teacher sent me to the library a lot. Thank goodness the librarian liked me! By 6th grade I'd read through all we had at school. A friend's mom was head librarian at a nearby public library & we'd go there after school several times a week. Remember the card catalog?

I was a library monitor every year from 4th grade through high school. I always thought I'd become a librarian. Little did I know you need an actual degree for that! One of my big regrets in life. I still visit every week and they keep inviting me to become a volunteer. Shoulda, woulda, coulda...

I know, I know. I'm weird. I am also a bathroom reader. I leave books all over the place -- bathroom, bedroom, living room, my desk drawer at work, my purse. I read in lines, in the car (I don't drive.) I've always been able to keep the stories straight. My favorite place to read besides at the beach is in bed in the mornings. I am working my way through my local library -- at least through the fiction. I jump around, but eventually I'll get through them all.
