Elisabeth,

your The Ladies of Missalonghi has a U character - too good a chance to miss- so I have moved it under a U-code as it seems we will need it for a new spell-out!

Thank you, Claire and no worries. Real Life is not always reading-friendly, sadly!

35559 Smaug went away rather quickly. Here's

Punxsutawney Phil (USA)
1. 200 to 299
2. Author first and last name start with the same letter
3. shadow on cover
4. rodent mentioned in text (mouse, rat, capybara etc.)
5. Set in the eastern half of the US or Canada

Basically books that can fill any missing letters in a word we already started on are great! 😊

If you finish the chonk in the next round (provided it works for a letter in the new word), that'll also be just fine!

35559 Thank you for the update, Alysa and well done on grabbing that book off your TBR-shelf. 😊

Yes, the new word may be dropping tomorrow or Friday (depending on how RL is treating our Mods :).

Glad you like the LOTR references ☺️. .... which kind of makes me want to do another re-read....

I might, depending on the word we'll get.

Sure!! There is still time to let go of unloved books and concentrate on others! 😉

I will finish my 2 U-books for sure. I'm not sure I'll be able to read one more, but never say never!

My Little Hobbitses!

Great reading!! 😊

🏔️ Still 3 days and 7 hours left for us to finish Round 1. (25 Oct, 9.00 pm UK time)

Here is the COUNTDOWN LINK
https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...

‼️As the Round 1 tab will be locked shortly after the round ends, every book you finish needs to be added and updated (added to your shelves) BEFORE the deadline, also leaving some time for us to transfer them to the official sheet.

🏔️ Tomorrow or the day after, I think we'll be given the new country-word for the next round.

🏔️ I had a look at how we are faring with the spell-outs and did just a little bit of shuffling, code-wise.
!Your books are still assigned to the same letters you have originally chosen!, but may be under a different reference code, further down the line. I tried to group books already finished more closely together for a better overview of where we are and what letters are still needed.

Mini tasks were also left unchanged, unless we specifically discussed this in the thread.

🏔️ At the end of the Round we'll be allowed only 1 partial spellout, so if needed, we may play a little bit more tetris with some books before closing time.

Is your Bernstein book The Leonard Bernstein Letters by Leonard Bernstein ? My husband has lots of music bios etc. We’re musicians 🙂"

I remember that you both are. 🙂

No, it is Leonard Bernstein by Paul Myers.

I recently read (listened to) On the Road and Off the Record with Leonard Bernstein My Years with the Exasperating Genius by Charlie Harmon by Charlie Harmon, which was interesting though I wasn't blown away by it as a "book". I also have her daughter's memoirs on my audio TBR: Famous Father Girl A Memoir of Growing Up Bernstein by Jamie Bernstein .

35559 I'm glad you find it so, Elisabeth! :))

35559 If it's over 50% that's OK.

The book by Erik Satie sounds v interesting. I have books about Leonard Bernstein, Herbert von Karajan, Seiji Ozawa and Thomas Beecham sitting on my Music-shelf patiently, waiting for their turn, lol.

Oh, thanks for spotting it, V.

Don't know what happened (it must have been me), but will restore the 2 missing letters and books. (The official sheet is OK.)

35559 I have found an unexpected U-character in my T-book which is too good to waste, so I'm switching it... just in case a T-book may be coming up for someone else. 😊

35559 Update: Christene confirmed in a message that her physical edition is green enough. :)

---------------------
Christene,

I'm uncertain about the % "green-ness" of Jade City Jade City (The Green Bone Saga, #1) by Fonda Lee.

On the picture it looks more black than dark green. But I know that the physical edition may differ from what shows on a cover photo and you have the paperback edition on your shelf. Could you please confirm? 😊

35559 Oh great, notifications are not working! 🤪

Apparently there was a total blackout with some Amazon-run apps. 🫤

** UPDATE**

For the MPG Genre tasks, it was found that Grimdark will not show up as MPG for any books, so the Mods decided that books tagged at least 3x as grimdark are accepted instead.

35559 Rebecca,

your Love Overboard A Hilarious Vacation Romantic Comedy on a Cruise Ship by Janet Evanovich has such a lovely pink colour, would you mind if we used it for that task? :)

Also, if you claim an MPG genre task, we don't need the number of tags (with the exception of Grimdark), we just need the genre to be listed on the Main Book Page. :)
